I used one of these on a single panel up in the loft. The thread had stripped where the bleed screw goes so I just drilled and tapped a 6mm hole in a new location at the top of the rad. Worked a treat. Nice 1 James 👍🏻

Have installed these on a number of systems, usually just the one on a towel rad. Genius invention. Especially if you’re renting out a property and want the peace of mind.
hooked bud, will speak to my SAFE guys, as I keep getting air into the heating, due a service next month, have ordered the vents now, but thanks for the tips.
Brilliant I too have a carabina with a bleed key,, after year's of losing the little critters it's a simple solution but an invaluable time saver if you haven't fitted aladdin ❤️👍great video
I had an Aladdin autovent HV30 and it wasn't much good. It ended up corroding with the holes getting blocked by crusty gunk (yes, the system was inhibited and has a Magnaclean installed) after around 3 years. I needed to replace it eventually when it started to weep. Went back to using a standard vent plug.
I fitted this on a 1.6m towel rail that was constantly cold at the top, I haven't found it to be that good. Is because it's a towel rail or could it be a cheapo knock off one? Any thoughts?
Just fell across this on your website, how are these not fitted as standard in a house?!? Great video and really well thought out for installers and DIYers, these must be invaluable for landlords!
Great video James with lots of useful tips. It says on the instructions that ideally you should fit the Aladdin Autovent on the side of the radiator where hot water comes in (generally the side with the thermostat)
Very good video, but if you just leave it to vent the air manually, how long are we talking? An hour, two hours, overnight, three days? Any ideas? Just bought some and fitted them after seeing another one of your vids, but still got the classic cold top third of both of the two rads I fitted them to at present (rads were fitted yesterday). Edit: Ah, watched a bit further on in the vid and seen the table now ...
So I'm a DIY, and have tried to follow your video on how to fit a genuine Aladin autovents. Failed: I shut off both radiator taps and slowly started to drain the rad from the the manual bleed valve and waited and waited and waited. The water came out dirty at first then clean but would not stop flowing. Tried a second rad and the same thing happened, so what am I doing wrong? And the obvious questionis can you fit these devices to all central heating systems?
Every radiator in my house has these but I’ve fitted the non replaceable cartridge model. The whole valve is cheaper than a replacement cartridge so I never saw the point in buying the even more expensive replaceable cartridge model. I didn’t know that the cartridge could be replaced so easily so maybe it is worth the extra.
Hello mate, need advice my top rad in the system i have to vent at least one a month, i am not losing any pressure on the WB combi, nor have any leaks, so a tad strange, its not a lot of air, which would you choose for an economy fix please.
Hi James - I've just fitted these to my rads and they seem to be working fine. I know they have a 5 year warranty but how long are they likely to work for? Thanks 👍
Please can you post a video about combi boilers showing us about whether inbuilt programmers are better than 3rd party programmers/thermostats. I didn't know programmers don't come with new boilers pre installed and that you have to purchase them separately.
Question, i have had a softened water unit installed, should I drain my heating loop and refill with softened water as it wont have the scum and scale from hard water, and I live in a very hard water area ???
Maybe I missed it in the video but why would the cartridge need replacing? What causes it to need to be replaced and how do you know when you need to replace it? Otherwise an interesting video.
put one of these into a radiator that seemed to be the one in the house to get air in every so often and it worked great for a couple of years but now it no longer lets any air out and I have to use the manual bleed I left on the other end, any idea why they would stop working and how to fix it?
Need update video on this product, I fitted these in my house, and i can tell you now, like most of the topics online about this product. I too am now having issues with random air appearing in my system. No leaks or air getting in prior, Now all of a sudden it has air gathering. at £10 per one i regret my purchase.
Mine is still fine. There are myriad other reasons and causes (including these obviously!) but don’t knee jerk to one opinion. Add some inhibitor. Turn down pump speed. Analyse for a few weeks.
Been using them for years but only reliable when using on a spotlessly clean system any gunk and they will clog up within the year. Theres also the more simple 1\8 auto vent that use to come with the cast rads £1.50 each on ebay but these actually drip if the system is not spotless.Moral of the story great on a new clean system.
Hi there I think you're talking about a different product. The Aladdin Autovents are guaranteed leak-free for life - if you get any that leak please let us know. Gung in the system shouldn't block them - if they stop venting within 5 years please contact us and we will replace. Many thanks
If your needing to bleed air vents regularly, I would suggest the air being released is in fact hydrogen indicating advanced electrolic corrosion, air released would be replaced with oxygenated water which will feed the corrosion process. C
Aladdin Plumbing Products thanks, so if you loosen the cartridge would that let air in? I’m just thinking about when the system is drained and you open the manual bleed values to let air in so it drains faster.
It may be worth introducing a maintenance schedule changing either the valve or cartridge after 5 years, an easy way of establishing if the valve has stopped venting would be to feel the radiators, to see if there are cold spots near the top.

That's a really good point mate. Didn't think about landlords!
I have used these for quite a number of houses. Strange thing is I have only ever put them on a towel rail too. Ever had one fail?

Are they ok to use on a combi boiler system?
Awesome James! I'd never heard of these. Just ordered th 10 pack through your Amazon link. Thanks.
Just bought two,two tall rads seem to collect small amounts of air..annoying! Will try these puppies!
Didn’t even know these existed, and these songs keep getting better & better 🤣👍🏻
Thanks man!

What do you think of liquid thread sealer, to use instead of PTFE tape?

Don't you have to re adjust the water pressure / refill expansion tank? As you normally do when venting manually?

Can you fit on a glycol solar pumping station.
Great demonstration. Fantastic products
What acrylic panels do you recommend for sticking over tiles please, without breaking the bank

hi can you do a video on how to boost water pressure as our bar shower keeps going hot and cold ! Love your videos by the way
Nice demo. I guess you have to keep an eye on your boiler pressure levels periodically if your system is susceptible to developing lots of air.
Question, i have had a softened water unit installed, should I drain my heating loop and refill with softened water as it wont have the scum and scale from hard water, and I live in a very hard water area ???
Depends on your boiler, some boilers have an aluminium ring inside (Worcester in particular) which softwater damages

These are also on Amazon, maybe worth putting some of these on your amazon link and getting a cheeky payout from the sale? ;)
How do you know when the cartridge needs changed.
I would Introduce a maintenance schedule and change after 5-years.
5:22 James, did this remind you of your AAV incident? 🤣
Sheeeeeeiiiiit son...gonna have to get some of these
You know where to find them! 😉
Also can be fitted on the robo kit on an expansion vessel to vent the system from there 👍🏻
Good afternoon everyone from wellington Somerset
Kept getting air noise/bubbles in a task vertical radiator. Noise was terrible. Fitted one of these nearly two years ago and problem solved

Nice, do they automatically let air in when draining the system?
Very good question 🤔
Hi Andy no they don't let air in they are a one way valve and only let air out. Many thanks
Aladdin Plumbing Products thanks, so if you loosen the cartridge would that let air in? I’m just thinking about when the system is drained and you open the manual bleed values to let air in so it drains faster.
Hello James.
I want to replace my all radiators with this device. Where can I get from and what is called.
Regards
Mohammad
Hi, these valves are available from Screwfix and Wolseley, along with many other merchant outlets
Won’t work on a Viessmann too many issues that haven’t been addressed.
Bought 8 of these and installed 4....worked for about an hour now the 4 radiators need bleeding, so dont work for me.
Nice short video???? That was longer than one of your rants on #alearmy!!
On a sealed system, why are these required as you shouldn't get a build up of air?
So how do you know when the valve needs replacing is there a way of detecting this ?
It may be worth introducing a maintenance schedule changing either the valve or cartridge after 5 years, an easy way of establishing if the valve has stopped venting would be to feel the radiators, to see if there are cold spots near the top.
Seen a couple of these leak when the system was full of crap 😂
Hi are valves are guaranteed leak-free for life - please contact us if you get one leaking. Many thanks
What if you're trying to pull a vacuum on a system...🤔
Could pull out cartridge of those are fitted? Or work quickly 😄
I had the same thought 🤔 I suppose close off both sides of every rad in the house.
Well… so is not so automatic ..
Why would you want to get rid of the labour cost from bleeding 100 rads? Charge the same do less 😂😂 they still need checking 🤷🏻♂️😂
Absolutely rubbish.they clog up and don't do the job.i ve 3 spare and all scap
Please contact us if you have faulty valves as our products are guaranteed for 5 years. Many thanks
Will these work on the old imperial size radiators?
So how do you know when the valve needs replacing is there a way of detecting this ?
They will last for at least 5 years. After this time when the radiator begins to feel cold at the top they will need to be replaced - many thanks
@@niftylittlebleeder thank you for reply I already had a couple in use for 2 years and was wondering on this
