people you are listening to one of the greatest female vocalist of all time my mum god rest her introduced me to Gladys knight and the pips in the 70s still brilliant today please introduce your kids to her soulful tones they will also love her for life
This is Gladys in her 70s and she leaves the young people for dead. A truly extraordinary performer and just so much fund to watch. The kids don't even know there were still steam trains in the 1970s which actually did go "whoo whoo". Wish I could have heard her live in the 1970s.
Of course Gladys is going to run circles around any other singer. She has always been exceptional. From the time she was a teenager to now. She's one of those rare singers who couldn't hit a bad note if she tried Even at 71 she has no peer. I think she deserves more recognition honestly.
Gladys knows what she is singing about. Singing is one thing. She takes it to another level. Thank you, Gladys, for teaching this 74 year old white boy what “soul” really is.
This rendition of this song is fabulous. It's detailed. It's about trains and personal relations and big cities. Remember passengers be careful around trains because they're big and heavy. I love that they mention Los Angeles prominently, it's a huge crappy town but here is where I've been hearing this song for a long time.
The mark of an absolute pro- she’s sung this song probably thousands of times yet, she’s totally into the performance like it’s her new hit. And having to boot! Mad respect for her.
Can you imagine how great the late Jim Weatherly felt sitting in the front row hearing 3 or more different generations singing and listening to his song that he wrote about Lee Majors and Farrah Faucet's love issues in 1970 under the original title, "Midnight Plane to Houston," and later renamed, Midnight Train to Georgia," per Glady's request? Absolutely AMAZING!!
Gladys makes it look SO easy, because she's a once in a lifetime talent. When you listen to the other two ladies here, it's a lot easier to realize just how incredible Gladys Knight is...and she makes it look absolutely effortless. That's talent, folks.
I listened to this when it first came out in the 70's;..MAJOR HIT!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this arrangement on Skyville Live...great R&B sound. What a talented group, and of course Gladys is always amazing. So many good memories of college days when it came out.
I adore you, Gladys! I was about 11 years old when I first heard this song and I immediately fell in love with your music while the older people dance to your music and I looked from a corner. I understood what "sexy love" was when I heard you. I forgot to mention that it during a beach summer vacation near to my hometown in Caracas, Venezuela. You still sound as wonderful and unique as then. Love and respect, Gladys!
Gladys Knight possesses beauty that defies description. When she opens her mouth to sing, what comes forth is a mixture of soul, pathos and joy. There will never be another like her.
My mom has never liked female singers but one and that is Gladys Knight. I have no idea why she never has liked female singers but Gladys Knight and the pips got her through many days of sorrow, pain, stuggle and being lonely! Love ya memaw!!
Just amazing!! Music of Gladys' era & this tune, simply doesn't compare with the trash nowadays. This was a superb performance & a real joy to listen to once more.
Inspires and connects me to one of my best memories, THE BEST memory actually. Skiing Sun Peaks/Tod Mountain, Kamloops B.C. No tourist accommodation - bunks for employees - leaving your skis ( with "maybe" 6 others pairs) propped in the snow for the next morning/day. I only regret not be able to go back and stay there. Gladys Knight made me think..................Thank you!
One of the best songs ever. And Gladys, you can still sing like you did 30 or 40 years ago! By the way, I love your outfit, Gladys! PS. One time I saw you sing in Las Vegas. I was with several other women. I cried through your whole performance, because I was so happy to be there. It was like a dream come true. I'm sure the other women wondered why I was crying, but it was from tears of joy! I still love you!
GK is uncomparable! Powerful and yet soulful voice. She simply captivates the whole stage and all audiences with her voice. So brilliant and beautiful to see her perform.
Live love love this woman since i was 18years I'm 65 now and still in love seen her 3 times live wish it was more but i live in Australia. One day vegas
This is probably the best recording of all youtube versions and also originals from the seventhies. Fantastic to hear every single note from the base line, see and hear this real brass combo and the best: gladys with her amazing voice and vocalists.
She looks like a million bucks. I am one of those who feel people get better looking as they age. Her voice is still the same as it was 40 years ago. She's in a class by herself. Great song.
I'd suggest you listen to Danielle Nicole's version - no backing vocals. danielle does it all by herself. It's a real blues version. Great song - and yes Gladys is a great singer.
This is such an extraordinary performance, of an extraordinary song, by an extraordinary artist! Period! I am running out of adjectives to describe this. Wow! It makes you really "feel something" as you listen. The level of musicianship, songwriting and performance abilities of popular artists in the 70s and 80s was really quite amazing! These artists and the musicians/singers around them (release date 1973), did not have computer software to help them write songs, or auto-tune. And yet look at what they came up with?! Stunning! A big thank you to Gladys Knight and all the singers/musicians who put this performance together. This has really made my day. In closing, I would like to wish all of you a happy holiday season in 2019, and a prosperous and peaceful 2020! Enjoy! Cheers, Sam.
Nobody can sing it like Gladys!
she is very good
There is only one Gladys Knight and she can surely sing!!!!!!

Ms Gladys Knight has one of the best voices ever. A real gift to mankind.
She is so generous, sharing the vocals with the youngsters....I like that a new generation is going to sing and love that song!
Holy shit...Gladys is 71 in this, two years younger than I am now, and she's still beautiful and singing as great as ever...what a legend!
Gladys Knight 's voice is still as good in 2020, this is music ♥
This is Gladys in her 70s and she leaves the young people for dead. A truly extraordinary performer and just so much fund to watch. The kids don't even know there were still steam trains in the 1970s which actually did go "whoo whoo". Wish I could have heard her live in the 1970s.

Gladys is pure class - and as the saying goes, age will not weary them.
Of course Gladys is going to run circles around any other singer. She has always been exceptional. From the time she was a teenager to now. She's one of those rare singers who couldn't hit a bad note if she tried Even at 71 she has no peer. I think she deserves more recognition honestly.

Gladys Knight's voice never fades, never ages nor will her soul. Timeless.

You are a young ass punk calling her old. Wgat you gonna do when your young ass gets old?
A power voice... with such clarity.
