- This starts out as a video of my secret training ground and then turns into a review video of my KTM 250 exc-f which was extensively modified by Solid Performance in Downingtown PA. They are literally thee best shop on the East Coast for KTM, Husqvarna, and now Gas Gas motorcycles. They are also a certified WP suspension dealer and tuner. You can visit them here and no one paid me to say this or anything about them www.solid-perf...
This video was originally made for the IMS Rides video series. It was a lot of fun to work with them.
" This guy on the Honda Africa twin. He's got on a Wu-Tang shirt. I appreciate that" HAHAH YES! tremendous
Hey dude I only subbed a week ago and I've already watched most of the vids. High quality entertaining vlogs. Keep making them cause, I'm not tired!🤙😀
Thanks man. I'm gonna try to keep pushing em out
Impressive riding regardless of how long you have been doing it. At 63 I am working on my single-track skills; it really helps improve overall off-road/adventure riding and exposes deficiencies!
Thank you, racing exposes all
I don´t get why you don´t have more subscribers... but anyway, great channel, always fun to watch.
Working on it and thank you
Bro, you crack me up!! Amazing
Thanks man
Hey Steve, thanks for mentioning the preload on the rear for improving the turn in on the bike. I own an 2018 250 excf and have yet to get the suspension tuned for me 5'11" 200lbs. I've always felt the bike was a little lazy in the turns., I'll have to crank on the preload and give it a run.
Oh yeah! That will help big time
Steve, I am looking for a new dirt bike and am coming to the conclusion that the 250 F is a highly underrated bike, overshadowed by the 350 and the 500, so I am really pleased that a guy like you who can fearlessly desert race bike heavy bikes like the 1200 XE Triumph choses it over anything else, a good endorsement in my opinion. From what I hear, the 250 F has the advantage of smooth progressive and predictable power on its side along with more flickability than its bigger brothers which makes it great for tight woods stuff.
Thanks and if you can test a 250f. The excf's are very user friendly. The xcf-w type motors are very very strong. Totally different in the way they rev and want to keep going faster.
I've got the same bike but it's a '17 and I love it. I'm 6'2" 210 lbs. and it has plenty of power for me. Too bad they stopped making the 250. I'm on Long Island so similar riding areas as you. Going to do my first harescramble with it next weekend.
I'll be at the cdr Orland farms one! On my gas gas 250
Smooth Steve! I love four stroke bikes.
I like the high reving 250 too
Thanks for the video. You are lucky, around by me, the power company sends planes and helicopters out to patrol their access roads. If they spot you, expect a visit from the local LE and probably a trespass violation. Your skills have improved quickly. I used to race mx 40 years ago, contemplating giving masters class enduro a try before I take the never ending dirt nap.
100% get back out there for a couple seasons.
I'm in NJ and I'm a little apprehensive with the legality of forest riding. I'm up North. Any pointers as where to look to see where I can legally ride?
Just be far away from people and houses, plenty to ride up there. Look at the train tracks and weird forested areas that seem closed off. Sometimes close to highways. Don't trespass but if you aren't bothering anyone in the middle of the woods you should be ok
@@steve_kamrad5216 good to know. I'm up in Sussex county area. I'll have to link up and try and find a few groups on FB.
More little bike content. Good stuff!
Everything on the way!
How does the modding affect the lifespan of the motor?
Non. It's a factory ecu and euro tune. Nothing negative
Great one dude✊🏻💨
Thanks bro
"Woods racing" - is this like AMA enduro stuff or something else?
Yes exactly. Tight woods enduros. Gncc would require a slightly different set up
What gearing are you running? Hope you post more 250 riding videos.
12/51. Soon
With the mods you have on the bike.... what would you estimate the horsepower to be? Is there noticeably more low end? Not sure if I want a 250 or 350 excf. I weigh about 190 with gear.
Big power increase! And also just runs better unlocked, you don't need the ecu but the air boot and deleting other emissions stuff helps a bunch. After that, make sure the throttle position sensor is adjusted properly and the map tune is kept up to date every 60 or so hours by a dealer. It seems to fall out of tune and struggle off idle. After that, just keep the idle high. Like 2300 at least. Runs a ton better
Hi Steve, Looks like I live 2 miles from you. How come I never see you in the Pine Barrens? The riding there is a bit better then Trenton!
Lol. I race down there but not much time for training
Nice vid, looking to get one and say goodbye to my xr600. Dropping in to say what up from north Jersey
Oh nice dude I do a ton of D6 hare scrambles right now in Central pa
Also get a deposit down in a bike if you want one. They go fast. Solid Performance in Downingtown pa is the only way to go.
What are the service intervals on the 250 exc-f
Oil changes every 5 to 8 hours, valves at 20 hours then every 45 ish, suspension service at 45
@@steve_kamrad5216 so oil evey 2 days and valve checks every week? No thanks
@@gabrielkopp2036 it's a liter of oil dude lmao plenty of other options though for example I love my WR250R
What mods did you do mate?
They're listed in the video. 2017 ecu, euro map, 500 air boot, timing advanced, suspension conversion to open cartridges
So its okay to ride on the street without a plate? LOL
Plates on my back pack there eagle eye
@@steve_kamrad5216 It was easier to see on your backpack than some creative ways I've seen plates mounted
im 5"6/ 173 cm would this be al size?
You can get s bike lowered by solid
@@steve_kamrad5216 sorry, can u rephrase i didn't understand. my bad
@@maxobery4117 a shop. Solid Performance KTM can lower a ktm easily. Because a 250 and a 450 are the same size
@@steve_kamrad5216 oh okay, thanks cause that was the one thing stopping me from buying one
@@maxobery4117 all dirt bikes are tall. Best to buy the motor you want and get the suspension lowered by a professional. Remember the excf motors are much less aggressive than the "unlocked" xc xcf-w or sx motocross bikes
A 250 is perfect for those tight tracks. On the other hand...don't put 10 hours on a two stroke. You think you don't want one. Then you do.
Yeah I just haven't seen anyone other top A level guys ride a 2stroke well
Nice video. Covid 😂😂😂
Yeah it was a total joke.
