finally, simple 15 minute meal prep that only requires the work of 2 people going as fast as they possibly can
😂 And don't start the clock until all ingredients are out on the counter and the stove is hot.
It’s still more doable than most who start with all the ingredients already chopped up XD
At least in one case it’s debatable whether having two people actually helped 😂

He almost had a panic attack cooking eggs in an old episode so teaching him to cook would definitely be an experience.

I love how over the last year Lilly has gotten so much more comfortable and she's going from the calm collected professional to showing her crazy
Josh sabotaged Lily by chopping the chili and onions for 5mins
And they were still technically within 15 minutes with 3 servings.

She should have been doing the meat not cutting strawberries

We meal prep on Sunday and I have to say it is nice having meals ready. I have health issues and don't always feel like cooking. We all eat at separate times so meal prep is such a great thing to do. My son and I cook together and it does make it so much easier with two people. The plus side to this is I get to spend some quality time with my young adult son. He works full time and goes to college full time. He does not like to eat out so this was a great solution for all of us.
It also needs to be said that two people can prep 4-5 servings in fifteen minutes, but I don't have a second chef in my house. I prep and cook all alone, so I could do Josh's in like 30-40 if I had a super sharp knife.
I do the same thing when I drop a spoon too Lily. It just means that we feel emotions deeper than Josh does. 😂

When Lily first came on the show, as a trained sous chef, entering the mythical kitchen with next to zero discipline, I fully expected Lily to bail. However as time went on, she’s adapted, and confessed, she wasn’t too great as a sous. She has tons of knowledge and seems to be thriving in the mythical kitchen and I’m here for it. Josh has on occasion looked to Lily for cooking advice. I love that.
I like that Josh has shelf stable sauces but he still puts them in the fridge lol
To be fair, a lot of us Americans may not use these sauces every day or cook that much. These sauces, esp oyster, can oxidize after a couple months and the flavor changes. Subtle, but noticeable imo.
30 seconds in and all I hear is Josh just finished Succession.
I love how it doesn’t matter what combination of mythical kitcheners we get, the chemistry between every member is so comfortable and unique. No one feels out of place and it’s so nice!
Speaks to Josh as a leader. He does all he can to make people comfortable even when he goes batshit.

15 minute meal prep = 2 professional chefs cooking for 15 minutes = 1 unprofessional chef cooking for an hour
I’d say the biggest factor to keep in mind, which can be much attainable by a home cook than a culinary degree, is familiarity. None of them said they’re trying something absolutely brand new to them - they’re either creating something they’re already familiar with, or creating components they’re familiar with and putting them together. That includes an understanding of the end result and the components that can be sped up or altered.
I am far from a professional chef myself, and often with a brand new recipe I do guffaw and take my time with it, but once I’ve tried it once or twice I get a groove with it. I know where I can cut corners and the cues for when certain components are ready so I can work with other components at the same time rather than monitoring it. A dish that may have taken me an hour the first time trying now takes me the 15 to 20 minutes the recipe calls for, and I’m often even familiar enough by that point to change up some ingredients and flavors to make it less repetitive.
Don’t be set back by your limitations - take them as an opportunity and roll with it.
I, for some reason still find it incredibly amazing that Josh keeps shining throughout most series 🤣🤣
Like, you could almost assume he's only the boss because he got there first, but no. Man really outdoes himself and even when compared to also experienced chefs he holds his ground, and at least among the mythical kitchen he truly shines in his creativity and actual honest talent and skill. He truly shows he's not the boss for nothing and is truly insightful about cooking and always trying to learn more

Something this channel has taught me is that the idea of needing to know/follow a recipe is kind of a myth. All you really need to know is flavour. Take stuff with flavours you like and that compliment each other and just kinda chuck it all together, and you'll look like a genius.
one thing any decent chef will tell you, regardless of recipe is "taste your food" lol
Flavor matters, but, personally, I find technique way more important. Once I know the proper steps and which ones are most important to the final outcome, I can literally grab any ingredients and make something good. Throwing random stuff in a pot without technique will just get you the worst possible version of whatever those flavors make. It might still be delicious, but you will rarely make truly great food and sometimes it will go very wrong.
I couldn't keep my eye on anything except Vi's earring! I love it. Carry on.
