Thanks, those were really great tips! Especially the purge button.

Fantastic! I just brought a model from 78 to 2 mB! I knew about 'purge' but I guess i was a non-believer. Now I'm converted!

The low poly slider in the warehouse is a great feature. Never heard of profiles but I’ll definitely check on it. Appreciate the video!

I didn’t even know Material Resizer existed. I’ll definitely be getting that. I also keep forgetting to run a purge. Great sfuff. Thanks.

Another tip for Mac OS users is to use your monitors default resolution or a "clean" multiplier, i.e a 4K monitor can be scaled to 1080x1920. I myself use a 27" 1440x2560 display at work but for some reason I have a 27" 4K monitor at home, and frankly working in 4K on 27" is actually way to small for me, but setting the screen to 1080 just looks wrong to me now that I'm used to my 1440-screen, so I rarely use SketchUp on my 4K monitor for that reason.
When using an uneven scaling factor in Mac OS, it just doesn't handle SketchUp very well at all, so scaling the 4K to 1440 makes it stutter just like the example shown in this video
Gaming on the 27" 4K is awesome though 😄

Lucky you! Gaming would be excellent on that monitor. I usually just leave my resolution on default and have never had issues.

Would be cool if SU automatically creates low(er)-poly versions of components and groups. This way, as you zoom in and out, it could automatically switch between different levels of detail and maybe even toss in an "always face camera" thumbnail representation for objects that look really small on the screen.

@@zack4258 There is at least one extension for that: TIG Matrix Proximity, and maybe Fredo Ghost.

There are plugins out there that can help reduce geometry load, such as Skimp... there may be others.

These 2 are the most popular, but there are others too.

Perfomant... I guess there is no spell check in SU. Yeah... I know. Everyone else noticed and just decided to not say anything.

The only thing that overcomes this is a bigger base clock for your CPU - this is a general rule for every CAD software; it does not matter if you have a dozen cores, as long as your CPU base frequencies is small.

Just tried to install for my 2023 and it said not compatible with my version!!!! So it looks like it only goes up to 2021? Am I right?

Download and install it, you will be good. This video was recorded in 2023 with the version of Mateiral Resizer that is on the warehouse.

Instead of making these videos every year I think you should start working on a new version of sketchup that is optimised for the new computers and that could even compete with 3dsmax. Good program with an easy to use interface but it seems that the creators of sketchup don t really care to bring something new to its consumers
