Just got home from loading shitty rubble on dusty building site. Checked in and found you playing this, so picked up my banjo and played along. Now I'm legally smiling again. thanks
Hi, I love both; Rachelle with your wonderful voice and Toni because you play so good your guitar and other instruments but not only... Toni, I love because you are a star seed Sister and I 'm sure we come from the same planet, go on this way, make people happy with your music and the energy you spread...
The very first John Prine song I heard, back in 1979. After hearing it, I went out to Camelot Records and bought every different album of his they had.
I’m sure that nothing serves his memory better than singing one of his great songs in a shitty parking lot. He is looking down at both of you and smiling.
Boy that's a great campfire song. In an alternate universe I'm listening to that in YMHA day camp in the summer of 72 when I was 12. But I heard plenty of Beatles , joan Baez, pete Seeger , James Taylor and peter, Paul and mary songs, instead. So things turned out ok. Great video guys. Love😊❤👍 always, David from Flatiron, NYC. RIP john prine
My late brother (Kit) used to sing and play lots of John Prine at gatherings. It always went over well and is remembered fondly. When my brother comes up in many conversations it's often said to me "Nobody does Prine songs like Kit did" I carry John Prine songs close to my heart and always will. That being said, You girls did a fantastic cover of this song. Thanks for sharing.
Woke up this morning thinking about Phil Ochs and his tune "I'm gonna say it now." Then immediately thought of you guys. Imagine you'd enjoy singing it. Know I'd enjoy hearing you play it - please.
I just love it! I was in the Army and they asked me if I wanted to be a truck driver then they gave me a wheel barrow and said here's your truck. 70-72 3rd MP in Germany!
A rare Facebook post I just wrote in honor of these ladies and the joy they bring us: I continue to be amazed by the magic these ladies make-turning old treasures into something new (and in some cases, they’re even better than the originals). That’s true partnership-where they each bring their own set of skills and beauty to the table, and together they work wonders. If I were leading a team, that’s what we would do. If I were leading a company, that’s what we would do. And if I were leading a country, I would do everything humanly possible to do the same. These ladies live up to the spirit of the words below that inducted Tom Petty & the Heartbreaks into the Hall of Fame. I wish we did too: At a time when Rock & Roll was split into a dozen competing camps, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers came along to put the pieces back together again. From the first note of their first record, they were both grounded in tradition, and completely fresh. It was as if they had looked at all the possibilities Rock had to offer, and built their music out of only the best parts. Over time each of the Heartbreakers emerged as a songwriter, singer, and record producer. Each had success outside of the band . . . yet when they came together they put all their talents behind Petty’s vision. Petty’s idea of Rock & Roll was stubborn and rebellious, but full of idealism. To Petty, Rock held up the chance of living a life of community and creativity, without compromise. He never backed off that belief. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers made music like the last of the true believers. They gave back to their audience what they took from Rock & Roll themselves . . . the best of everything. . . .
Great Job! A little trivia on this song...This was the last song added to Bruised Orange Album. Prine said he thought the album was complete but record company said they wanted one more. So he went back to his hotel and said he wanted to write the worst song he could so they wouldn't ask for any more...turned out to be a great song. He basically has 3 verses based on things that happened to him, but he said the chorus has nothing to do with the verses or anything, just made it up.....LOL
So much talent. Thanks to both for giving us the opportunity to listen to some awesome music! Toni is my granddaughters hero. She wants to learn to play and sing just like her. Thankyou for being such a positive influence for her and many other women out there.
Yeah John Prine is an American treasure. I used to play this song as a kid over and over. My mother (a Minnesota girl) thought I was crazy. She might have been right. But this song stands the test. Great video and I like Toni singing a little lead. Keep the videos coming!
I’m almost always disappointed with John Prine covers as his wry humor is usually missing. Not here though! Such a fun song, sung with obvious joy. Well done!
imagine you'll have such daughters... yes! i'm just 55, so 15 years left bevore you. Some die with 4 15 32 44 50 or 95 who knows, how much time we have on earth? Best wishes from germany Nash. Your name reminds me on crosby still nash and young. Yes we listened that in the 70th too over here. Get 90! Old man look at your live, twenty four and so much more...♪
had the opportunity to see John, Kacey, and Isbell play on New Years Eve in 2016. John missed the ball drop (of course) and Kacey had to run on stage to tell him haha. Won't ever forget that night. Great job, guys!
Sounds great. I am amazed a how you don't hear any background noise or wind noise on these outside recordings. I really enjoyed hearing both of you singing together.
John would be SOOO proud!! ❤️❤️😊😊
Lost a treasure in John and found one you all💛
Great version. Beautiful. John Prine would be proud.
Thanks for your amazing performance. The best ever
Can't believe you found a J.P. song I had never heard before!
I'm all for more Toni verses!!
Just got home from loading shitty rubble on dusty building site. Checked in and found you playing this, so picked up my banjo and played along. Now I'm legally smiling again. thanks

Thank you ladies, again. It was fine and shine.
The very first John Prine song I heard, back in 1979. After hearing it, I went out to Camelot Records and bought every different album of his they had.
One of very few times I love the cover over original 👏👏👏😁👍
A Toni verse!!!
I like her voice. They´re both great
So good to hear Toni take the lead for a verse!
I love it when Toni sings!
It's been a while since she sang in Mercedes Benz or Church Street Blues
Lovely surprise! Should happen more often, but the blend of both voices works so well also
Toni is such a natural harmoniser. Really enjoy hearing you both sing together
Thanks for making this sad year bright!😁
Wish I had a John Prine parking lot near me. Thanks for making my day...again!
Wow, this was something unexpectedly nice to find. Thank you.
Happy Sunday to you too
I’m sure that nothing serves his memory better than singing one of his great songs in a shitty parking lot. He is looking down at both of you and smiling.
Great version. Thank you so much.
Honestly it's the most fitting tribute I can think of! Phenomenal performance as well!

Loved the fact that Toni sang a verse on her own!
Having these two in both my ears feel like fishing in heaven.

At least they should live this year over and over.
