I'm Franco American, but I was born and raised in France I'm planning of moving to LA and be closer to my family, I don't care about the cons
As someone who used to live in LA the last point hits hard. It's VERY hard to make friends there because everyone is all about money and they don't want to waste their time talking or hanging around you if there isn't anything to benefit from it. People will come over and talk to you acting all friendly sure but 99% of the time they are simply sizing you up and determining if you can add anything of value to them. LA is a place where despite its gorgeous scenery and countless things to see and do, it's easy to feel lonely.
Yeah that is true about LA. I think it’s more a symptom from a lot of people working in the industry. People have to admit that Hollywood and the entertainment industry can be very superficial. You can’t have it both ways. But if you don’t work in entertainment and hang out with non-industry people, you actually can easily avoid that.
@@clarityofthought of course. A great city to visit. Stay in Hollywood at the Rosevelt Hotel then spend your time in Santa Monica. Don’t forget to drive the 101 up to Santa Barbara. Very beautiful drive
@@clarityofthought I live in LA. Careful, covid rates are super high right now. Visit little Tokyo in downtown LA, Chinatown, Venice beach, etc. lots of good food here but expensive, maybe get some Phở for dinner..
The “fake” people tend to conglomerate in certain areas, which happen to also become tourist hot spots at some point. Go away from those areas and you’ll find people humbled by their success and failures in this city.
As someone from here, I can honestly say, the “fake” people have moved here from somewhere else. They move here to be someone else rather than developing the person they are.
Or, she sees that the benefits outweigh the costs. She’s from Seattle and already had money before moving to LA so it made sense for her but if you’re someone with no money thinking you’ll shoot to stardom the moment you move to the most expensive city in the US, it’s not worth it.

I feel like you hit on a really good point about the people who move to LA. They’re the clout chasers, the flakes, and the people with their heads stuck in the clouds. LA natives, and Southern Californians are actually super chill and down to earth. Don’t let Hollywood get in the way of the genuine Californians 😌❤️
Some California natives, even decades ago, and hippies also had/have their head in the clouds, it has nothing to do with what you described. Dreaming is synonymous with Cali, because of its chill vibe, not a bad thing at all😊

Thank you for sharing I drove and stayed in California for two months..it was great but I lost track of how much money I spent...smile...still love it...
Okay, but homeless people deserve to live. I can't believe people are more concerned with keeping some weird ass egotistical reputation of LA than the stigma that perpetuates homeless people as terrible. Also most were pushed out of their own home state's due to freezing weather, violence and etc. Homeless people are people regardless if they live here in LA or any other state. Plus, it is not exactly like LA residents don't fucking terrorize homeless residents anyways.
Devilina Gurl California is a state that promotes homelessness with the high cost of living and high taxes which is causing a growing divide between the rich and working class people of the state. I’m not saying homeless people themselves are making LA undesirable, I’m saying the conditions present in the city and state that are making homelessness increasingly prevalent are the problem
Not really. Capitalism is why homelessness is a problem not a state. Homeless people don't wish to be homeless nor does anyone. The only reason why there is a huge homeless population here is due to the "acceptance" of homelessness without fixing the actual issue. That rent is too high and that's not due to homelessness. It's due to gentrification and more richer people moving into the area and trying to force poor families out of the area to make the state richer and wealthier but does not actually get rid of poor families. It just makes them suffer.
Excellent video. As one who grew up in Los Angeles I can attest, everything you say is true. It is simply impossible to find the center of this city, and you can't find that magical place to live that will put you in reach of everything you need to do. It's simply impossible. Unless you can work from home and order everything to your doorstep, including groceries, you're gonna be on that road dealing with traffic. No fun. I had a job once where I had to leave home two hours early just to be there on time. It was only twelve miles away. And this was a minwage job...years ago! Traffic has only gotten worse, so I'm glad I can afford to work from home. But I still have to brave the traffic. Yes, we have a lot of shallow phonies here, but I live in what I call Real L.A. What I mean by that, is I deal mostly with regular people with a good head on their shoulders, not fame seekers. I have a lot of Mexican American friends and they live very normal, down to earth lives and don't pay attention to all the silliness.
What I found really sad in LA is the homeless population! Rich Celebrities live next to people who live on the street and I think that’s really upsetting 😪
MountainDrew their fault that they lost their homes cause poor rent control, the companies they worked for went bankrupt, etc. and then you get on a list to get help/housing but there’s a line. Say u leave to explore other options, you automatically loose your spot. It’s deeper than you think.
A lot of these hipsters or transplants don’t know LA. They only hang around gentrified hipster areas around other transplants. Those hipster areas are the most superficial and soulless places in LA.
Honestly that’s the thing about LA, sure there are some negatives but I swear the craziest (in a good way) shit comes out of the woodwork here and it could be the best time of your life.
Lived in LA County my whole life, and I love it. Nothing quite like going to a Dodger game, seeing the city, going to Universal, walking around the Americana in Glendale, quick drive to the beach (at least to Orange County from the valley). Sure parking and rent and food are expensive (as is everything--but there are ways to get around it like taking the bus/train, living in the suburbs, cooking your own meals, etc.), homeless population is on the rise, smog and traffic are mutually inclusive. But that is typically the case in all major cities. When you can look past that, and see that the people here are just trying to survive same as you, you can really see the beauty in it (maybe not so much in the angry drivers though, lol). I'm very fortunate to have grown up here, and I think everyone should give a visit a chance at least once.
The Hollywood bowl is a cool place to go to for concert goers. Hollywood was the best place to go when they had more record stores to go to. I lived in the South Bay all my life and I have been to most of the shopping places and they’re not good because parking sucks and you have to pay for the parking most of the time.
oh gosh, i miss all those things right now.. i would do anything to go to a dodger game, drive to the beach and find some hidden spots in oc right now.. youre absolutely right tho, the view that others have on la versus what us locals see is so different and it really is such a shame...

True, there’s more to LA than the West Side, but the West Side is not all White either. Other than the extremely affluent West Side neighborhoods of LA, the West Side is actually very diverse and I would argue that there’s more diversity in its neighborhoods than the east side and south side neighborhoods of LA. Even the affluent West Side neighborhoods are diverse. White people are not the only wealthy people in LA lol.

it's only nice to live in LA when you are rich and living that extreme life of going out all the time, parties, and whatnot, but when you are stuck on the cycle of working many hours a day and doing chores then it's gonna be a hell of a boring life.
First of all, those places aren't even close did you mean West LA and secondly ppl really think the rest of la is ghetto outside of those vicinities. I can tell you aren't from LA.
Okay here's what I have to say. I'm not saying that any of her points are incorrect, but a lot of the issues in Los Angeles are the same as issues worldwide. There are gangs everywhere, homeless people everywhere, the elite and the poor everywhere, natural disasters everywhere, etc. You cannot escape the negatives that life as to offer. So, one may say don't move to LA because of its issues, but each city has its own. Not everyone wants to move to LA to get rich and famous. Speaking for myself, I am an artist who wants to move to Los Angeles because it is a highly artist-populated city. I plan to become successful in the next couple of years, however whether or not that will happen will be solely based off of the hard work and effort that I put in. I want to be surrounded by people who are interested in the world of creativity and media. Living in the small city I do, it's hard to find people who have similar interests. My point is, if you want to move to LA, do it. If you don't, then don't. It is expensive yes, but there are ways around it. Trust me. All I do for work is brew coffee and toast bagels, but I've planned a living situation which will pay the bills with enough money to take care of myself and have extra left over. People often forget that there's living options other than apartments and houses. You can rent rooms for pretty cheap and work two jobs, if that's what you have to do. If you want something you will go after it and make it work. Don't get me wrong, it's not easy, but what's a good life without hard work?
I agree. Not everyone who moves to CA are only interested in moving to LA. Some people choose to move to San Diego and some people choose to move up north to the Silicon Valley to pursue a certain career. There are affordable places to live outside of LA like Palmdale, Lancaster, Mohave, Apple Valley and Bakersfield.
Yeah exactly, there’s a ton of careers that you have to live in LA for or even get paid more for then anywhere else in the country. Both me and my wife make so much more in LA that we not just don’t notice the high cost of living but live a far higher quality of life then we did in Nashville for example

Devilina Gurl You just disagreed with me and went on to support my argument. Thanks I guess

It isn't their job to give out money but I 100% agree that it's so sad that's how it is.
As a rich celebrity I can tell you it is upsetting. But we can't kill the homeless. Can we?

MountainDrew their fault that they lost their homes cause poor rent control, the companies they worked for went bankrupt, etc. and then you get on a list to get help/housing but there’s a line. Say u leave to explore other options, you automatically loose your spot. It’s deeper than you think.

Comparing a peasant village at the edge of a desert next to any major city? You're trying too hard.
A lot of these hipsters or transplants don’t know LA. They only hang around gentrified hipster areas around other transplants.
Those hipster areas are the most superficial and soulless places in LA.
Ikr fuck hipsters they are so annoying and fake
Hipsters tend to do that in every large city or sizable suburb they move to in masses
Live here love it here hope things gets better soon
But LA is an amazing place to live. The opportunities are limitless unlike other places in the US.
Omg so trueee
True
True and it's always evolving and changing which only ads/increases the opportunities. My favorite part about LA.
But what good is all that if you cant save no money to indulge in it and to busy trying to make money.
Ok
Who asked
Maybe Dont Sleep I know a guy that use to live in Huntington Beach that did my taxes when he was alive.,
The Hollywood bowl is a cool place to go to for concert goers.
Every time you show a pic of a spot I’m LA I think about all the times I’ve crashed my whip on that street in gta
😂😂 Bruh! hahaha. it's crazy how accurate GTA is to the real thing. When I first moved to LA that's all I could see.
Do you see celebrities there??
@@christianayala1672 lol
Gaming Douchebag if you're lucky enough yes. Many people have met Zendaya but idk about other people 🤷♀️ Plus LA CA is huge, so it will be hard trying to find those "celebrities." Idk about other places. When I was younger I was thinking I should move there and find Zendaya 😂 I was in LA CA not too long ago and I would look out the car window all the time just in case I see celebrities. (-ω- )
@@prod.antisocialflexerr Yes, you will see celebrities here. My little brothers are part of this swim team and at the swim meet they met Gwyneth Paltro and took a picture with her. Sometimes on certain holidays/events you can go to Pico Blvd and Fig and just go bar hopping around there at night and you'll see many celebrities/athletes. Once you know you live in the same state as most celebrities, you'll tend to not get so worked up about it. There's even an ex-celebrity superman actor that now does solar paneling for roofs.
My father went to one of the most famous high schools in LA and has a yearbook from it... John Marshall High. That high school must've cranked out more than a dozen celebrities from there. I grew up in San Gabriel just east of LA and thank God the homeless haven't really crept into this city like it has to other cities. My hometown has really changed throughout the years... Everyone drives a Lexus here at the very least and now Lamborghinis, McClarens, Maseratis and Ferraris are becoming a norm.
Eye candy and real information. How awesome is Shelby.
there's more to LA than just the west (WHITE) side.
@Nick Soccer that is just simply not true. LA has a very vibrant asian community. Ktown has some of the best restaurants. Japanese and chinese town also have a lot of amazing food. But the traffic is indeed horrible.
@Nick Soccer to be fair, there are homeless and people with tatto everywhere in LA. Its okay if you dont like visiting those places. But your argument is rather weak.
@Nick Soccer I have been to and experienced all parts of LA and its not like what you have said. Its also funny your said none white part of LA cos I think the city has a pretty diversified demographic. and I dont think there is any district could be defined as none white or white areas.
I wish someone would've told me the west side is the white side before I moved here. I swear I hardly ever see black people in Culver City.
3.60$ per gallon is expensive you say **laughs in European**
We easily pay 7$+
People have bigger cars on average in the US and drive more daily than in Europe. Most ppl here have never used public transportation in their lives.
@elin_s really doesn't the entire continent of Europe fit in the US lol
@@evastood4539 no the landmass of europe is bigger than the united states. And also has a bigger population.
Thats because Europe is trying to stop gas emmisions and they can't possibly stop people from driving cars so they make gas really expensive so people are less willing to drive cars
@@americagomez4907 no, gas has been expensive in europe long before global warming was a forefront issue. Gas is expensive because the governments want that tax money.
My biggest concern in LA is too many homeless people. Just seeing them on the street everyday makes me feel so sad and depressed.
H Kim I know I live around Koreatown town and I have to stay strong and positive because seeing so many sad and homeless people can depress me
That's literally one of the top reasons I left LA. I'm very sensitive to my surroundings. I have to be around something beautiful. The cement jungle, as locals call LA, is not beautiful. And seeing so many homeless people struggling is very hard to see. It eventually weighs on you.
I tried to be friendly but at times I was a bit worried for my safety.
thats why you need more illegals, they boost the economy

Bruh being from San Fran, rent seems way cheaper there in LA
Matea right
the whole west coast is SO expensive compared to the rest of the country, where I'm at in Washington the rent is pretty much the same, but min wage is even less.
@n s well if you're in western washington cities it's pretty close lol. people easily pay 2000 for a one bedroom apartment in my city. I mean it's not too bad if you wanna live way out in the county
Matea yep
I agree. L.A. can be expensive or reasonably priced (not cheap, per se) depending on the neighborhood.
Shows like “The Hills” showcase Los Angeles living for RICH kids, not your average person that lives in or moves to LA.
They can party almost every night of the week, because they come from families with money and connections.
Money makes life real easy.
true. la is just liek any other city. downtown la and hollywood blvd have tweakers on the corners, smells like piss, has many attractionns. just liek downtown sf. or new york. but its the same as everywhere else. ppl in a rush, on their phone. ect. movies makeit seem like some magical city. i do like to visit la. but it's not like once you enter la your all of a sudden going to be famous
you can live like that in Houston on a normal salary or a slightly above average salary.
I just subscribed to your channel because of this video. You rock.
US People thinking paying $50 for a full tank is expensive LOL. Try living in EU, more like 100 €+...
Unless you live in a dictatorship, it's your own fault. Your government will confiscate as much of your wealth as you allow it to. Stop voting for liberal politicians that promise free everything.
Yes, mobility is a bit more expensive in Europe, but all the rest is way cheaper. Food, healthcare and off course education! And European countries invest the tax money into road maintenance. So in total I think most of Europe gets a way better deal.
Flo Punkt fake news. Healthcare and education aren’t free in Europe, they’re paid through very high taxes.
@@wehatedisneystars i wrote that those things were way cheaper in Europe, not free!
@@LG123ABC I don't mind paying more taxes if it means I don't get bankrupted by breaking my leg. By voting for economically liberal politicians you get your wealth taken away by private companies instead of the government, an entity that has many more checks and balances not to spend it all on a CEO's salary.
I’m from Australia, and love to come hang in LA for couple weeks each year. Get around easy on metro, lyft.... always stay near staples centre at the O hotel..... and get my sports fix, shopping....and fatty foooods! Love it. The city resonates with me.
Yeah I live across the 7th street bridge from the Staples Center.
I felt the opposite, in term of the pollution. It hit like a tonne of bricks - Australian cities you rarely notice it except inner Sydney. But to visit regularly may be nice (I went 20 years ago in late teens so didn't get to experience any night life or that side of what im sure makes the city interesting).
Where are the good places to eat in LA? I always struggle to find great food spots when I'm in Cali.
Most famous people live in Los Angeles, i wouldn’t mind living in Los Angeles but where I live I get free health care.
Lil Ash You should come to California on a visit. Hawthorne, Carson, Torrance, and Lawndale are good places to live. I’ve been to Santa Monica, Hollywood, and downtown la and they’re not places where I would want to live.
@@legendaryTMNICO That's only assuming that the OP can even afford to live in LA county in the first place, especially with the rising rents.

I am also thinking to move there but I am from different country and it'll be way more expensive in LA because I want to be a celebrity and I am ready for all the cons. I'll work hard but do I have to work very very hard like is it super hard. I am just scared any advice guys.

I’m a 25 year old male, $850 studio apartment and no roommates (nice coastal part of LA) car insurance w/full coverage for 2012 Prius (55 MPG) $77 with extremely low deductibles. I buy groceries at ALDI’s and the $99c store. I RARLEY eat out or get coffee. Everything is done at home. My total monthly expenses that include everything is just under $1150. What’s the point of living if you don’t have a life 🤷🏻♂️
THE HUNTER DD33 I work from home full-time and I’m pursuing a Doctorate of Education. I’m pretty tied up. 🤷🏽♂️ also, I have 0 friends here, which I absolutely love. What I do for free is hiking Griffith park/Santa Monica Mountains, going to the pier and walking along the beach at Santa Monica/Malibu, Free museums and many others to name but my point is you don’t need to pay anything to enjoy life. If that’s the case for many, that’s a pretty sad life to live.
850? Where in LA? I havent seen that number in a few years for a studio or a 1 BD.
@@_babyshambles I'm in Coastal San Pedro, right on the border of Palos Verdes. Prior to moving here, I was in North Hills paying $900 for a studio. The Valley was too hectic for me, so I decided to go south. What I love about it here is that there is no thru traffic. Only the locals and some tourists. I find cheap apartments on Trulia Rentals. Craigslist is way too saturated.

My point is we only live once and if you stay inside and never make enough money to spend on things once in a while, you will eventually get older someday and wish that you had more money to do things when you were younger. Trust me, I used to be like you and drive a 1996 Honda Civic with 160,000 miles on it. I only paid $60 a month on car insurance and I never went out much, because I didn’t have a pot to piss in. Long story short, I was bored and miserable. Now I got a different job and I drive a brand new 2017 Dodge Charger. I can go out anytime I want because I can afford it. @Blah blah Baby Wow, you should probably go back to 2nd grade.
@Blah blah Baby where are you from and where do you live?
Don't get me wrong, it's not easy, but what's a good life without hard work?
totally agreed!
gangs, poor people, natural disasters
*laughs in northern europe*
💯
You explained clearly
The only reason people only want to Move to LA: hOLLYwOod
Or “I Want to pursue my career so I moved to LA”
Yeah exactly, there’s a ton of careers that you have to live in LA for or even get paid more for then anywhere else in the country. Both me and my wife make so much more in LA that we not just don’t notice the high cost of living but live a far higher quality of life then we did in Nashville for example
Not going to lie this is what I say to my self, when or even if I blow up and become a profitable UA-cam then I want to move to LA for business purposes. I can collaborate with a bunch of different stars and so fourth.
SiR GriNdeR Not everyone wants to move to that part of CA for entertainment purposes. Some people want to move to other places out of LA like San Diego.
