FourSquare is Class Act!! ...thanks for the reminder "Silence Means Victory"!!!!!!! I was going pick up another Detente since I still see them all the time. But now I am adding Redoubtable to the list. Cheers!!
Just wanted to follow up on my old comment. After about a year now of sipping and learning about different spirits, I can safely say I'm now on the high proof train. You guys were a big influence in getting me to give higher proof spirits a try. Actually managed to find a bottle of the Redoutable a few days ago and can I see why you guys rate it as one of, if not the greatest Foursquare ever released, it's absolutely incredible! Thank you guys again!
Been waiting for y’all to review Redoubtable! Bought a couple bottles then watched your other FourSquare reviews and found a 2008. Thanks for showing a bourbon drinker other great sippers! Also the Doorly’s 12 year may have been a good starter - my go to daily rum 🥃
When i saw your reviews for Foursquare 2008 i went out on a limb having never bought a Foursquare before or really even being a rum drinker and bought three bottles (at $80 a piece mind you)!!! Well i regret it now! I wish i bought 6 of them😅 Seriously good stuff. As springbank becomes too hard to find, Foursquare becomes my favorite new distillery, i don't know why i equate to two...(I was really only getting springbank 12 cask strength), maybe cuz they're both funky and strong, they're both 12 yrs...both beautiful packaging..all of that and more make this rum a great substitute for my favorite scotch
I vote for a Blind Challenge with rum! Love the other blind challenges with whiskey bourbon and tequila. Unless of course you already did then …… I request another!! Cheers!
My life has been turned upside down with this new Delightful Dillon. But then then Dutch spilled half a gallon of high end rum on the table and all is right with the world. 🙂 Thanks fellas! Great review.
Really enjoyed the video with a pour of the2009. The next day my order of the sovereignty arrived total game changer14 year 62% heavy sherry influence. Takes Foursquare from the rum fought bourbon drinker to the rum for the scotch drinker.
Hey guys, new to sipping spirits and was wondering why it's so desirable for a spirit to be higher proof? I've been sticking in the 80 proof range trying to get better at deciphering flavors, but the higher proof stuffs honestly a bit intimidating. Also would you say the Indelible is a decent entry for someone with little experience? The Detente seems to be unavailable in all my usual spots now.
Yeah - it is definitely easier to get into it with the lower proof releases. Try those first for sure. Any of the "lower" proof Foursquare are fine to start with really. You can also try mellowing out higher proof spirits with a little water. Once you get more used to tasting spirits neat, you will probably start to enjoy higher proof releases more - you usually get a more intense flavor experience. Cheers!
@CuriosityPublic Awesome, I'll be on the lookout then! One other thing, I came across a rum from Plantation that's aged 17 years in ex-bourbon, 2 years in Ferrand Casks, and a final year in a Tequila Ocho cask called Guyana 1998. Looks like it has sugar added which would be a turn-off for you guys, but I'd love to see your analysis on how much of the tequila flavor is imparted and how the two blend together.
Finally a review of Redoubtable! I have to say it’s the best ECS of all time and it deserves an official Ultimate Spirits Competition score. The only ECS that comes close is the new Sovereignty which was aged 14 years in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry barrels. Great drinkthrough as always CPU!
I bought a couple when they went on sale. At first I hated it as it had this weird Scotch undertone at first. But after it opened up it was delightful. Fun fact, it spend its first 11 years in Barbados and the rest of its time in Scotland.
@Javier Acosta Here is a breakdown of the labels: Red - Low ABV Blue - Vintage Green - Double Aging Purple - Ex-Bourbon more than 12 years Admittedly, this might have changed because the new Sovereignty is 14 years and double aged but it has a purple label, not green like Redoubtable. But if you look at Isonomy which is the newest release (not yet available in the states) it was aged 17 years in ex-bourbon and is also a purple label.
It is a little different but if you didn't like the 2008 you probably won't like the redoubtable either. That said you might like one of the "red font" ones like Détant better
Given the markup on bourbon these days and the current market, can you guys do an episode about the top 5 or many 6 bourbons that you would overpay greatly above retail for and explain why? I feel like many of us are just paying the premiums, and most of UA-cam bourbon reviewers don’t seem to be willing to pay that much, and obviously you guys love bourbon.
Indelible is lowkey one of my favorites. I'm almost done with my first bottle and already snagged a backup. It also happens to be a great gateway rum for folks who haven't tried sipping rums. With all that said, Redoutable is my favorite is all time. Just blows everything out of the water.

I want more Foursquare.

"It doesn't make any sense but who cares?" is pretty much the ethos of this channel, no? ;)
Love these drinkthroughs. Foursquare is always fun.
Great drink through. Redoutable is tied for my favorite Foursquare with both 2008 and Empery. I can't pick just one.
This was so great. I’ve been trying to figure out what Foursquare to get, and this was super helpful. 👍
More Foursquare

2008 foursquare may be my most prized posession....Also....The 5th Element
Nicely done
Drink rum long enough and the Shibboleth really really shines! 👌🏻

I second this request
Great run through guys. More rum reviews please.

My favorite Foursquare is Nobiliary 14. Best rum I’ve ever had. I have a bottle I’m saving for the end of the world.
Adding "sun-dried grapes" to my shopping list . Great drinkthrough™ as usual!
the 2009 is the one where Dillon droned on and on about Cognac! On that note I've gone through 3 bottles of it. I think it's awesome
Came for the drinkthrough, stayed for delightful Dillon
Do some of Appleton estate! They have many low to high end options an exceptional Jamaican Rum
Still waiting for the glenfiddich world famous drinkthrough. Always a pleasure to watch you guys.
Have you guys checked out the 2010 yet? Been seeing it on the shelves at TW lately
I tasted Redoubtable and was lucky to get a couple of backup bottles.

Great drink through! I have the Indelible and like it all right. I actually prefer the Dos Maderas
Just watched Master and Commander last weekend. Life really is a simulation.

"Why am I so bad at pouring today?"
Today???
I have a Rhumb Runner 15 yr old FourSquare single cask - 62.4% from 359 Spirit. Up there with the 2008 for me.
Think it was one of those TW Concierge bottles that I occasionally FOMO about. But worth the $$ for once.

The Fifth Element? Dunno? Great videos.
Tried doing a Dogpile search on what the green label means. Page Not Found 😬

I'm not as big on Foursquare as you guys are. I gave away my bottle of 2008 because I thought it tasted like hairspray. Is redoubtable much different?
It is a little different but if you didn't like the 2008 you probably won't like the redoubtable either.

love foursquare

You guys NEED Isonomy... 17yr mastery. Cheers!
