Thank you for making a "friend not foe" tier. It annoys me when people judge the neutral/helpful creatures as if they're just bad at being enemies. Having spectralids flying around or the mamuta vibing in the arcadia, imo those moments make the world feel more alive and like a real ecosystem.
the piklopedia actually talks about how emperor bulblaxes live in groups while sovereign bulblaxes live alone, so it makes sense why there’s almost always more than one emperor at a time
8:33 Actually if the Arctic Cannon Beetle is able to suck in some of your Pikmin, it kills half of them and shoots the other half in a snowball. Example: 14 Pikmin are sucked in. 7 die. The other 7 are shot out in a snowball.
Interesting, never actually had that happen to me since I normally run away to avoid the snowball/bolder. It does make it slightly more deadly, I still think its not super dangerous though.
@@Invizeronthe second time you encounter it, the snowball can actually knock pikmin off the stage. I had that happen to me a few times. It does have killing potential, especially the second time u see it. But, it is still fairly easy to deal with

12:56 i have never lost a pikmin to a man at legs in 4. in 2, it was buff, but in 4 you can just ride oatchi and spam pikmin at it whenever it isn't shooting, and it dies.
Almost every enemy in the game can be easily countered with Oatchi. In the video he talks about the danger levels of each enemy, but honestly most of them I never had any trouble with because I'm ALWAYS riding Oatchi and most grounded enemies die in seconds if you use Oatchi's rush ability with a full squad.
20:55 I didn't realize this thing made your pikmin dance. I remembered what it did in the first game and wanted to avoid losing a lot of pikmin so I fought it as carefully as possible. I was worried over nothing.
Kinda lame tbh. It was cool in the first game where it turned your pikmin into an entirely new type with it's own design. They even attacked you when you got too close, but now they are just given a "confused" effect, not even changing the designs.
@@barstoolblethins8428 Probably because it would've taken a LOT more programming. Instead of 3 relatively similar body types you now have a whopping 9 with half of them having distinctly different models that would have to be changed to the standard Puffmin when attacked

Funny story about the smokey prog, in pikmin 1 I found the egg, didn't know what it was, walked up to it and said "Neeeeeeat" walked away and grabbed my two parts for the day, and when I got back to base, It was there and killed all my pikmin, and then turn around in pikmin 4 I was doing night missions to stock up on medicine, and the game sent two at me. I defeated one just fine, then accidentally sent a spirit bomb of 45, glow pikmin up its bum ny entire squad dead again. It was hilarious and I took it out with a trackinator and landmine while laughing my butt off
That giant fiery blowhog actually ended up killing Olimar in the shipwreck tales mode for me. That thing is a force to be reckoned with! Sure, he doesn’t effect red Pikmin, but all of your captains and other Pikmin are still at risk from it. Should be higher imo.
The titan blowhogs are actually honestly decently dangerous for where you fight them. That icy one in the mud dungeon with its constant knockback was VERY SCARY
I haven’t had a captain or any pikmin die from the fire, but I’ve had several of the latter die when it tosses them over the ledge. Very underrated threat.
Fun fact: If you're fighting the big Glidemander, you can lose all your pikmin in 1 attack. I think there is an oversight where, if you're entire squad is attacking one of the "gold" pieces when it goes to grab it, all those pikmin currently attacking it will also be eaten.
The Man-At Legs is actually hilariously easy. In Pikmin 2 it was hard but in this game, Oatchi can literally just run circles around it without getting hit.
But if you do get hit while on oatchi, you get stunlocked into a complete pikmin squad wipe, so there is *some* risk to using oatchi to “cheese” man-at legs. Key word being some since oatchi is oatchi and breaks the entire game.
I remember encountering the mama sheergrub for the first time and didn’t think it was a threat. After I beat the main story 100%, I saw it again in Olimar’s mode, and it killed so many Oikmin, and I was like, “What?! It can do that!?” Haha! It’s cool to be playing a Pikimin game with surprises and consequences.
I feel like it was made to throw people off. At first, you assume it is basically a larger version of an already passive creature. But it suddenly becomes a bigger threat than the male versions because it is jumping around.
Fun fact the emperor bulblax is stated in the pikilopedia that they stick together in a pack like formation in younger adults and when they get to a certain age they become a sovern and go on their own
Honestly unless you find a quick kill, the Empress Bulblax fight in the tight room is easily the most difficult fight in the game. By far the most precise timing wise and missing that fraction of a second just means a wipe unless you ration out your pikmin carefully.
Yeah, I was playing most of the game without riding Oatchie (intentionally) and that boss killed my entire squad of Pikmin like 3 times. You have such little time to walk into the geysirs
I used glow Pikmin and hit it from behind during its Cavern for a King encounter. That way, I could just stagger and call them back before it starts rolling
The Gildemander was the boss i had the most trouble with just because i was constantly fighting with my Pikmin to get them to target the right thing or to not just choose to hang out doing nothing infront of its mouth despite the fact that im whistling them away.
17:20 in pikmin 2 i went in the cave with the bread bug, and loui didnt take the 25 blue nor the 25 reds with him, i went in the final floor with 20 yellow pikmins, only getting 1 of the 3 items on that floor, and hated them and loui for it. i had to stop soon, but kept resetting to get more items, first attempt was the best one 😭
It's actually pretty horrifying to watch your Pikmin jump manically under Groovy long legs as it methodically stomp on them. Especially in the 3rd phase.
So a few interesting things about 3 of the enemies, the 2 giant versions of the blow hogs can actually stun lock your pikmin even if they can survive the element, they also can blow MUCH faster than the smaller ones so expect to end up with a lot of leaf pikmin instead of flower ones, Moss can be trickier sense it's can be a moving hazard sense Moss can steal your pikmin and move towards you based on how close you are, plus they have a decent amount of health and defense making Moss a bit of a pain to watch out for if you didn't go directly to Olimar, plus Moss can regenerate health and if you aren't careful may end up stealing some pikmin while you're doing something else in the area.
on the empress bulblax fight where you have to use the geysers, i lost a lot of pikmin and got so mad that i literally just switched to oatchi and chipped away at her health until she died
The snowy big blowhog, especially in the last dungeon, is REALLY dangerous if you don’t have enough Pikmin to instakill it. That fight caused me 5+ resets due to just time after time blowing Pikmin off the map. It’s insane.
This is my first Pikmin game; shocked you had Man-At-Legs in S tier. It was by far the easiest boss, you just ride Oatchi in a circle around him and the machine gun laser site can’t land a single hit.
Pikmin 4 was my first pikmin game, and when I got to the waterwraith, I got so panicked by the music that I left the cave instantly. I then later returned and just went straight to the bottom, not picking up anything on the way, and then beating it was pretty easy. I think it's just a goofy lil guy with emotional support rocks and I love it.
The most Pikmin I've lost outside of the 3rd Empress Bulblax fight was thanks to a doodlebug and spidermites showing up together, causing all of my Pikmin to panic in the poison it caused, which distracted me from the bomb rock the doodlebug dropped which started to explode.
Bulborb larvae can be killed with a single slap from your character, and are easily deal with if you use your horn. I'd still keep them in the same tier, because they're funny to watch dramatically explode and melt from a little slap on the snout.
the waterwraith also has increased homing to. i know this because it always stayed very near to me when i was going through the level. it doesnt go off on its own. it stays near you and tracks you very hard.
24:23 the greater spotted jelly float (at least according to me) digests pikmin faster than the lesser one. Proof? Feed the jelly floats at least ONE white pikmin then use a stop watch and when the jelly float dies write down how long it took to digest the pikmin.
fun fact with the jellyfloats, if they are frozen by ice pikmin they'll just fall and insta-die, i think they should be lower on D tier myself (but i guess this is if you take pikmin's powers into consideration with the list since that would make the armored canon beetle D tier as well if you have rock pikmin)
Actually, in the sublevel where you fight the empress bulblax in a small area, I ended up attacking the bulbax from behind, right on the cliff. I did this because your Pikmin get launched off in a way that they won’t get annihilated by the empress bulbax’s squish.
I personally found the final boss (I forget the name) incredibly easy once I found out how to do it, and actually ended up doing it deathless with only 61 pikmin. The first 2 phases are easy, the electricity phase has a dumb little strategy of leaving all of your pikmin behind, use oatchi to bite the electric ball things, then just go around and hit it, the fire phase is easy, and you just have to run up before the red stuff lands
As terrifying and deadly as the Waterwraith was in Pikmin 2...he got nerfed _hard_ in 4 - all thanks to Oatchi, mainly, as the doggo allows for far more compact Pikmin transport. Due to this compactness, Pikmin aren't travelling in a wide arc behind the captain anymore, thus making it significantly easier to maneuver around the Waterwraith than it was on the GameCube.
The Toady Bloyster's attack does work on Blue Pikmin underwater, they run around until you whistle them just like on land. I actually have lost two Pikmin to that, because they managed to dodge my whistle range.
I actually managed to one-cycle that second empress bulblax fight where it has the larvae. I dont remember my squad but i think it was around a third purples so that helped a lot
Swooping Snitchbugs are theorized to be an important lifeform to pikmin as they can replant plucked pikmin to let them grow further. They should be "friend not foe"
I would say for the artic cannon beetle second fight u were wrong because when the snowball hits u it can launch every sing one of your pikmin off the edge
26:42 it can make the bubbles go off the map and make pikmin fall, I never realized this happened to me until I looked at the pikmin casualties. how the hell did I lose 36
fun fact: when i ran into empress bulblax in 4 in the final cave and saw how tiny the space is i was like "i don't wanna deal with it" and was wondering if bombs and mines thrown from the edge could deal with her. happy to report it actually works and when you do that she never rolls or spawns babies, nor will you deal with falling rocks. you can 100% cheese empress bulblax.
18:52 tbh you are overhyping how much time effects this guy. The two times you fight him are once in a cave with no time limit, and for the white jewel he spends so long stunned from being rushed you can carry back the white onion without killing it just by knocking it down.
Honestly I think man-at-legs isnt that hard, like in pikmin 2 it was a real challenge because your pikmin were slow and he shot FAST, but because you have rush boots and oatchi you can straight up out run his bullets making him a complete joke, what a fall from grace.
The snowflake fluttertail is most definitivelly a moth, the biggest differentiator is the feather-like antennae of moths in constrast with the thin antennae of the butterflies, and also moths have thicker torsos and abdomens, other than legs which this one doesn't even have, but moths have stocky legs over butterfly's thins
Man-At-Legs was pretty pathetic in this game, in my experiences. Just whistle your Pikmin off as it starts to wind up, then get on Oatchi and run circles around it and you will never get hit by the gunfire. Even when you don't have the room to do that, like the one on the table in Olimar's Shipwreck Tale, there's so much cover available that you're never in any danger as long as you recognize the pattern of "shake Pikmin off -> deploy cannon" I could understand Legs being S tier in Pikmin 2 where the arenas are a lot tougher and you can't easily bunch up all your Pikmin, but in this game it's definitely a B tier, and I'd only give it that because I could see veteran players really overestimating it.
When it comes to the Smoky Progg, the Emperor Bulblax, the Empress Bulblax, and Spotty Bulbears with kids around...I don't even bother with Pikmin - I just toss explosives their way. From memory, a well-timed explosion will insta-kill any Dwarves and do a nice chunk to the Spotty, and three or so booms is enough for the Progg.
Yep, the Tusked Blowhog was the first enemy I lost Pikmin to. I hadn't noticed it behind all those pots (forgot which early cave it was) and was caught completely off-guard when he charged through my squad right after Oachi broke the pots
from my experience the only new mechanic of the titan blowhog is that it can oneshot you and oatchi if your in the line of fire at least, the firey one can idk about the icy one
I find moss particularly deadly when the sneak bomb is around. Being able to swallow it means that you can’t simply steal it with your pikmin and instead have to tussle with her to try and steal it yourself
the second arctic cannon beetle encounter is made to screw over players without the mold running boots. which it is entirely fair to expect the player to not have those when trying to clear the game in a 13 day run.
4:53 i literally killed the one in the Bulblax cave (in like the second area, I was completing the area before going on to the next) in like 2 seconds. I was nervous too, but it died so fast. Cant wait for the next one.
Ok so i do think the doodle bug is a lot more dangerous due to the fact that the bomb rocks it drops *can* set off if you accidentally throw a pikmin at one while trying to hit the thing, lost a lot of whites from that experience...
You say the Swooping Snitchbug can't kill Pikmin, but tell that to the one that grabbed a bomb rock off the ground and chucked it at me, blowing up half my squad.
I loved seeing that so many older enemies were remembered and put back in the game...but did keep being a bit disappointed at how pathetic Oatchi made everything, literally running circles around everything. Even those S tiers were often taken down in seconds without a death with Oatchi around. I still keep coming back to Pikmin though, it's one of my favorite series, even if they keep drifting further from some of the parts that made it so.
6:38 they acctually don`t die they just stand there untill you whistle them back and also if a pikmin gets hit by a snowball 10 times it dies (at least thats what i have been told)
the blizzarding blowhog in the cavern for a king(the cave it was showcased in) knocked SO many of my pikmin off the ledge the first fight, so i rewinded, and it was a TINNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY bit easier since i could actually avoid him, also, HOW IS OATCHI STUNNING HIM IN THE SHOWCASE
Id like to mention that the titan blowhog and blizzard blowhog actually can be quite dangerous, because their so big their attacks blow away the corresponding pikmin type and can knock them into the void, it also can throw them into the void, so i personally would give the titan blowhog an A, and blizzard a B because it cant directly kill
I kinda disagree with your take on the Man-At-Legs. In Pikmin 2, it was terrifying, but now that you're able to ride on Oatchi it can't do a single point of damage to you as long as you stay moving. It's still a tough enemy, but nowhere near the ranks of the Sirehound or the Groovy Long Legs
Did you know the artic cannon beetle can eat Pikmin when they do the harder suck ability and if you are right in front of it, it can eat purple pikmin and you as well
I’ve seen a video where a swooping snitchbug killed about 90 pikmin because it picked up a bomb from a captain and threw it on the ground. It can be catastrophic, but only in niche and uncommon circumstances.

7:09 In the mud pit, sublevel i forgot(😂), I lost like half of my squad because it blows Pikmin into to mud and freezes the ones who don't
fun fact with the jellyfloats, if they are frozen by ice pikmin they'll just fall and insta-die, i think they should be lower on D tier myself (but i guess this is if you take pikmin's powers into consideration with the list since that would make the armored canon beetle D tier as well if you have rock pikmin)
Actually, in the sublevel where you fight the empress bulblax in a small area, I ended up attacking the bulbax from behind, right on the cliff. I did this because your Pikmin get launched off in a way that they won’t get annihilated by the empress bulbax’s squish.
I uave never seen a tier list that ranks things so perfectly
15:50
The nasty stare of otachi at the buttterflys caught me off guard
The Toady Bloyster's attack does work on Blue Pikmin underwater, they run around until you whistle them just like on land. I actually have lost two Pikmin to that, because they managed to dodge my whistle range.
I actually managed to one-cycle that second empress bulblax fight where it has the larvae. I dont remember my squad but i think it was around a third purples so that helped a lot
Swooping Snitchbugs are theorized to be an important lifeform to pikmin as they can replant plucked pikmin to let them grow further. They should be "friend not foe"
Very much agree with this list-except for male sheargrub. That thing lives in my nightmares.
The part with the emperess bulblax, I took one look at the small area and said nope. Stood on the ledge and threw bomb rocks at her that I had saved.
did all the previous enemies become weaker? there should be a masochistic mod that "restores" the enemies to their hardest version.
fun fact: when i ran into empress bulblax in 4 in the final cave and saw how tiny the space is i was like "i don't wanna deal with it" and was wondering if bombs and mines thrown from the edge could deal with her.
happy to report it actually works and when you do that she never rolls or spawns babies, nor will you deal with falling rocks. you can 100% cheese empress bulblax.
22:47 I’m confused, wdym by if I’m a real one? Do you have to kill him if you want 100%?
My friend would die to protect a bulborb so he would hate the clips of you killing bulborbs😂
25:23 hippity hoppity, get off of my property
Proceeds to slaughter family of 4 ice wollyhops(wog)
The snowflake fluttertail is most definitivelly a moth, the biggest differentiator is the feather-like antennae of moths in constrast with the thin antennae of the butterflies, and also moths have thicker torsos and abdomens, other than legs which this one doesn't even have, but moths have stocky legs over butterfly's thins
*snowfake
Man-At-Legs was pretty pathetic in this game, in my experiences. Just whistle your Pikmin off as it starts to wind up, then get on Oatchi and run circles around it and you will never get hit by the gunfire. Even when you don't have the room to do that, like the one on the table in Olimar's Shipwreck Tale, there's so much cover available that you're never in any danger as long as you recognize the pattern of "shake Pikmin off -> deploy cannon"
I could understand Legs being S tier in Pikmin 2 where the arenas are a lot tougher and you can't easily bunch up all your Pikmin, but in this game it's definitely a B tier, and I'd only give it that because I could see veteran players really overestimating it.
For the robotic spider, you can chuckle under it and go in circles while under it and easily defeat, it quite easily
Yep, the Tusked Blowhog was the first enemy I lost Pikmin to. I hadn't noticed it behind all those pots (forgot which early cave it was) and was caught completely off-guard when he charged through my squad right after Oachi broke the pots
When the groovy long legs has taken some pikmin i always throw ice bombs so they get frozen and i can whistle them back
from my experience the only new mechanic of the titan blowhog is that it can oneshot you and oatchi if your in the line of fire
at least, the firey one can idk about the icy one
6:30 no pikmin wont die if you dont whistle them unlike other conditions they just chill quite literally
I find moss particularly deadly when the sneak bomb is around. Being able to swallow it means that you can’t simply steal it with your pikmin and instead have to tussle with her to try and steal it yourself
That dancing enemy was one of the hardest ones I fought even with riding oatchi , but if you’re not riding on oatchi that thing is a PIKMIN genocider
the second arctic cannon beetle encounter is made to screw over players without the mold running boots.
which it is entirely fair to expect the player to not have those when trying to clear the game in a 13 day run.
its criminal that the airhorn sound groovy long legs makes isnt even mentioned
when i encountered the sirehound i really was like "finally, a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary!"
Wogpoles grow into Wollyhops, the arch-enemy of everyone that played the original Pikmin, so the Blue Pikmin's hatred is completely justified.
4:53 i literally killed the one in the Bulblax cave (in like the second area, I was completing the area before going on to the next) in like 2 seconds. I was nervous too, but it died so fast. Cant wait for the next one.
Ok so i do think the doodle bug is a lot more dangerous due to the fact that the bomb rocks it drops *can* set off if you accidentally throw a pikmin at one while trying to hit the thing, lost a lot of whites from that experience...
really?! do the ice ones go off too?
8:02 my man with a plan
8:32 and my bro in snow
its kinda funny that ever since pikmin 4 released, dandori just kinda became a word
it has been a word. they didn't just pull it out of there ass. it is a word.
@@dropfish3109 I meant more like it became a word people actually know, not just some fancy word that gets used once a week by barely 100 people
You say the Swooping Snitchbug can't kill Pikmin, but tell that to the one that grabbed a bomb rock off the ground and chucked it at me, blowing up half my squad.
12:53 this boss was really easy for me, you just run/swim in circles until it's done shooting
6:38 they acctually don`t die they just stand there untill you whistle them back and also if a pikmin gets hit by a snowball 10 times it dies (at least thats what i have been told)
They don't get killed by snowballs
the blizzarding blowhog in the cavern for a king(the cave it was showcased in) knocked SO many of my pikmin off the ledge the first fight, so i rewinded, and it was a TINNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY bit easier since i could actually avoid him, also, HOW IS OATCHI STUNNING HIM IN THE SHOWCASE
The 2 emperor bulblaxes and the water wreight had me screaming
I kinda disagree with your take on the Man-At-Legs. In Pikmin 2, it was terrifying, but now that you're able to ride on Oatchi it can't do a single point of damage to you as long as you stay moving. It's still a tough enemy, but nowhere near the ranks of the Sirehound or the Groovy Long Legs
I had no idea it was called man at legs. I just called him the armed thing with no arms
that's a great name.
Bro NEVER looked at the piklopedia
I couldn't belive the confined space empress bulblax. Looks like something from a rom hack.
Did you know the artic cannon beetle can eat Pikmin when they do the harder suck ability and if you are right in front of it, it can eat purple pikmin and you as well
I just fought the groovy long legs and yea… it is definitely one of the hardest so far lol
26:19 “Pikmin 2 Boss music”
The Pricklepuff
26:18 / 29:33
Seeing the thumbnail, I'm kind of diappointed the video wasn't just the S tiers vibing to long legs' jam
I’ve seen a video where a swooping snitchbug killed about 90 pikmin because it picked up a bomb from a captain and threw it on the ground. It can be catastrophic, but only in niche and uncommon circumstances.
