  • Bob Ross fans! It’s ‘time’ for some happy trees, and we’ve got just what you need: pxlfy.me/BobRossWatchMightyMo...
You’ve seen him before - he's the quiet soft-spoken guy with the fuzzy afro hair painting mountains and trees with big brushes in a matter of seconds. Bob Ross is public television's most beloved personality and here is the behind-the-story look at his journey to becoming America's pop-culture icon.
This docu-story reveals the personal life of Bob Ross through the loving accounts of close friends and family, childhood photographs, rare archive footage - what you know: his unwavering dedication to wildlife for example, and what you don't know: Bob Ross' straight hair, his fascination with fast cars, and so much more.
You'll see rare film clips of Bob Ross with mentor William Alexander, and the very first rough-cut Joy of Painting episode. And you'll learn how one little TV commercial to advertise local painting classes slowly turned this gentle-mannered fellow from simple beginnings into a viral phenomenon that continues to allow millions around the world to realize their dream of becoming an artist.
Enjoy fascinating interviews and insights from some famous Bob Ross enthusiasts too, such as talk show pioneer Phil Donahue, film stars Jane Seymour and Terrence Howard, Chef Duff Goldman, and country music favorites Brad Paisley and Jerrod Niemann.
Bob Ross: The Happy Painter is presented in three parts: The Man, The Television Artist, and His Legacy.

He would never know that he still inspires one person like me in 2021 to start enjoying the painting, after almost forty years of thinking that I have no talent in art at all. It's been almost 2 months since I watched his show The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross on BBC by accident, and now the time of painting is one of the happiest time of my life.

Yes I agree. A friend introduced me to his paintings about a month ago. I was immediately mesmerised. So I did a search to find out he'd died so long ago and yes that he'd left his legacy to his son, only to see the others fought it in court by saying Bob was their employee so couldn't leave it to his son. Money hungry... And sad, after his loving nature, they hadn't learned from him at all 😢

I'm 16 years old, even though i wasn't alive when Bob was, he still is a big part of my life. When i'm going through a tough time or i'm having some form of panic attack or i'm over thinking a situation or just not happy , I always put an episode of his show on and he calms me down, he's one of the only things that can turn an awful day into a better one, his happy attitude and calming voice just gets to me and watching him paint is mesmerising to the point that the problems go away. You're not just watching an art teacher when you watch him, you're watching someone who feels like a close friend do something that they love to do. We need more people like Bob Ross in our lives, he just wanted the best for everyone and everything, he will not only forever be remembered but he will forever be missed.

    1. Watch the first 5 minutes of Bob Ross and get an idea of where he was headed.
    2. Change the channel to Tom and Jerry or The Flintstones for 5 minutes.
    3. Switch back to Bob.

More people need to experience his dedication, and sheer love of his craft. It shows that an honest love for your own hobbies can be a driving force; for anyone who just takes the time and risk to achieve their most precious dream, can infact reach it through not only hard work or dedication, but through the love of what you are creating.

He said once, during one of his paintings, that he'd been a mean son of a gun at one time until he discovered painting. So I guess in a way painting really is magical, because painting brought him peace and he didn't feel mean any more - so he explained, with brush in hand. The man certainly did have magic paint brushes. I think we could use a few more Bob Ross's in the world...

Late September 2020 here, and I firstly want to thank the Public Broadcasting stations for continuing to air The Joy of Painting.
Although I have never set brush to canvas myself, I feel enriched after watching Bob turn a blank canvas into a work of art, all the while affirming his viewers' value and abilities in his soothing, joyous, and therapeutic demeanor.
The man was - nay, still is - a treasure, and I wish that he was still available for me to thank him personally for sharing himself with us all for so many years. Rest in peace, my friend.

His shows, really his calming voice, his advice and inspiring outlook on life has helped me more than he’ll ever know. I love how gentle, loving and compassionate he was with animals. I hope he knew how loved he was and still is. He made me feel like I could paint.

I feel like Bob would be absolutely blown away and humbled by how popular he is now. I think he’d marvel at something like the internet being the big reason he’s had such a resurgence in his popularity. This world especially now would be so much better with him, but also in a way, he never left. His message was by far the most profound thing he gave to the world. A way of finding confidence in yourself as long as you’re willing to practice and don’t let mistakes (aka happy accidents) get in your way, to just roll with what happens and not freak out. Genuinely applying this to other aspects of your life besides painting and you’ll be more successful. It’s like another way of giving yourself the permission to “fail” so that you can learn from it and grow.

Have you ever considered the many, many dots in Bob’s life that had to connect for him to spread the the joy he did through his program. Chance encounters driven by someone’s misery, an understanding wife, various moves across the states, a video tape in the incorrect format, a cost saving hairstyle, a year long search for a mentor that he’d only seen on tv, a personality that should be all’s envy and a talent in painting. A slight altering in any of those events and Bob might never have been known. A scary yet also fantastic example of how life works. RIP Bob, you add to my life still to this day.

I have sever Anxiety. Upon browsing on suggestions, I found his channel. And since then, his videos became my Therapy. His calm voice and his words of wisdom. Huhu. Bob makes Impossible things possible.

I can relate. I was struggling with school because of severe anxiety and the crappiest one of all, bullies. I was fond of art back then and I still am to this day, so I just watched some of his videos to calm me down. I hope everything is going good with you! God bless.

I had the same experience one guy spoke of in this film. I had never ever painted and ordered the Ross kit and canvas. The first time I had the knife up to the canvas, all ready to start, my hand was shaking and I had butterflys in my stomach. Amazing how nervous I was, and I laughed, thinking how funny that was. Took me a little bit to calm down. After that I was ok. The second time I really created a nice mountain. I was so shocked that I sat there staring at it for 10 mins, fascinated at how great it looked. Never thought I could do it, and succeeded! Thanks Bob Ross!

I remember watching him as a kid. Years later when I was in the Army, we would watch his shows when we were on guard duty, during our rest periods. Fast forward 20 years, I'm now a full time professional artist. Thank you for your gift Bob, not just as an artist, but as a truly wonderful human being .

That qoute right there inspired me to achieve my personal goals on my fresh canvas. Maybe a different canvas but it's still art.

I absolutely adore this man. Watching the Joy of Painting has gotten me through so many hard times in my life. There was something Zen-like about his voice and beautiful paintings that would never fail to clear my mind from whatever troubles I was going through. I can't explain it exactly, but I know many others have experienced the same.
Thankfully, his career has been so wonderfully archived that the world will always have him when we need him .
