Thanks Jane for sharing your inspiring recovery!

Im a little embarrassed im a 42 year old blue collar worker and im sitting here with watery eyes watching this video and i dont know why. Ive needed bi lateral tkr since i was 27 but have been putting it off. I believe this will be the year as my knees have gotten really bad the last 12 mos. I think i might be feeling a mixture of joy and hope after seeing this but i definitely has ne in tears for some reason 🤷. She should be proud this is absolutely amazing!!!!

@@goldshadow534 it went very well. At 6 weeks I was good enough to work again. I have a high pain tolerance but I believe anyone who knows constant knee pain would understand that it’s worth the initial pain. Today I climb ladders regularly and I have my second knee replacement come November. I am 6’3” and 280 lbs so I wanted to be strong enough to lift myself easily after my second knee replacement. Otherwise I’d have had it done sooner. I admit that it hurts and pain pills are a necessity but it’s worth it.

Hi Christine. My pain prior to surgery was primarily caused by the very things that used to give me pleasure - hiking and skiing. It got to the point where I would practically cry from the pain. My passions were no longer enjoyable, and my quality of life was considerably diminished. I’m happy to say that now 16 months post-op, I am back to hiking and skiing the way I did before surgery. Doing physical therapy prior to surgery in order to get as strong as possible was imperative in my recovery. I wish you the best of luck. It’s a big decision, but I can honestly say I have no regrets.

swollen?...have you checked on blood work for infections?...i had that done before my TKR but usually infections get worse if not taken care of...and i wouldn't worry about getting full range of motion like in your youth...and if your other knee needs it, by all means...just make sure it is the same size; because for instance if your teeth filling is off just by a tiny hair, it is very uncomfortable when you bite down...so same size will prevent waddling...and modern TKR have innovated technology and digital precision and should last 15 years...and true, TKR are not designed to give you a new knee like in our youth but it fixes the problem of arthritis, loss cartilage, bone mass, pain etc from the years of constant banging on our knees like long distant running, biking etc...and everyone is different in regards to recovery time such as your physical fitness before, age etc ...don't compare yourself with others...just keep at it and one day, you will say "dang i did it and i have close to full range"...blessings...

I had a partial knee replacement with Dr Foran and it had that same half moon shape, much smaller than other incisions that I've seen. It healed fast and little to no pain (seriously) But I'm scheduled for a full knee replacement on my right knee next month and not looking forward to it. Unfortunately, Dr. Foran no longer takes my insurance so I'm going to a surgeon that he recommended. He's great and knows his stuff! Prayers and hard work ahead! For Jane, she definitely put in the work when it came to physical therapy. We hope that you continue to feel better in your recovery!

Birger, there was definitely pain! But it was very manageable. Perhaps there was some luck involved, but I was vigilant with my physical therapy both pre and post-op. It was a lot of hard work. I also give Dr. Foran a lot of credit for his skill. I truly believe it play a huge role in my successful recovery. I do hope your pain gets better and that you continue to see improvement.

I’m not sure why this is posted. This seems nothing more than a show off video. I don’t think you represent 98% of those if had any replaced include myself.

Sorry to be a balloon buster, but this video is bullshit. The vast majority of patients do not have this experience. It is incredibly painful, not to mention depressing. Not for all, but for most. I could not be happier for this woman… But it’s simply not representative of most patient experiences.
