This brings back the memories, and some tears! Me, and my stepfather, played this all the time together. He was an adult, but he was heavy into video games like me and my siblings. This Contra game helped us strengthened our bond. He’s gone now, but seeing this video of the game just makes me think about all those times when life was easier and a lot more happier…
That's sad bro man I understand just like you figure that this generation they don't know man that there was enough time it wouldn't have it so easy like they got now I don't run that cuz it's true😎🎚️💯
Nothing wrong with add-ons, but everything wrong with using add-ons, passes, etc to bleed as much money as possible from the consumer. I miss the SNES days. I haven’t purchased a new system since PS3.
Konami and snes were a golden duo. I’ll remember playing this a lot with a friend of mine, it was the reason together with mario kart to play on the snes. We went to sega to play streets of rage 2. Great times!
10:12 - Everyone remembers how sweaty their palms got from here during this climb =P and the relief they felt as they got to the top. The music, sound effects, and especially the enemy encounter designs, all show how much thought the developers put into their game.
I brought this out of the closet after at least two decades and called my brother over. We played on hard and we're still able to finish it. It was like no time had passed. What was it about this generation of gaming that makes it so memorable verse what came later. There were a lot of great titles in the next gen counsels.
Man, the second that boss music would start, my heart rate would increase and my palms would start to sweat. What an incredible gaming experience this was back in the day. It’s still an awesome game. One of my all time favorites.
No DLC, No coin points fuckery. Just a hard ass game with a dope ass soundtrack. Oh and sound effects, that are stuck in everyone's head till this day..
BattleToads has entered the chat Hmm can't remember if its hard on snes like it is on nes or not. If not try Mystical Ninjas on snes on 2 player, fun and the difficulty spikes are halfway through, gets pretty hard. Can't remember if you can choose to play on hard mode, or if there even is an option to choose difficulty, but one to try for sure. This is coming from a guy who can solo contra 3 hard aswell as 2 player and think its just decent challenge. Also MN is another konami game from that golden era on snes.
An absolute throwback to a game that had a huge impact on my childhood. A game that I was able to destroy easily then but would probably lose half way through a run now.
Konami was best known for their games including Metal Gear Solid, Winx Club, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time, Dance Dance Revolution: Disney Channel Mix, Top Gun, Prince of Persia, Tiny Toon Adventures, the Castlevania series, Metal Warriors, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Xiaolin Showdown and Contra 3: Alien Attack
good old times, I used to play this game with my two old brothers and all our friends from the hood, just by hearing the songs I feel the nostalgia of those times
The snes being stressed and outstripd, almost hanging at 46megabits at rom (on the game cartridge), forcing and pushing everything he gots on the SA1 chipset when huge enemies came and players fire up all weapons at the screen ... is magical I can pratically smell the grey and purple plastic heating up on the cartridge and console. This game was (is) my Nemesis. Never ended it. Thanks for playing it here. legend.
Shattered soldier was the worst. Never beat that one. I got so good at Contra 3 that I could make it to the last stage without continues. Shattered soldier handed me my ass so many times I gave up
Nice to see how the game was beat. I never got passed the brain enemy since I always played solo. Can't believe how close I was to beating it. 😂 Still fun memories with many hours spent. 🎮
There was a spot before you start fighting the bosses in the last stage where you can just stand and shoot at the aliens. I would just leave a book on the controller and rack up 1 ups. I'd go make a snack then come back 😂. When I got to 30 I would start again.
That's funny, cause it's one of the easiest bosses, if not the easiest in the whole game. 😂 You can shoot the spinning barrier thing around it to choose which attack it will do. If you shoot the spikey one, it gives out guns and bombs, and you can keep doing that until it's dead.
When I was a kid, I played this game so much that I was able to beat it with out dying effortlessly. I used the Turbo controller, and put the auto turbo switch on to switch guns back and forth with the Crush gun x2 or Spread gun x2. Killed those bosses in a blink of an eye. Good times.
Good effort! Really good... I beat this game once every day during my college life - takes about 15-20 minutes if I recall correctly So it was honestly free-flowing to me. I miss the game. It was a long time ago. Time sure flew by pretty fast...
Year and half to close this game in Very Hard as a kid with some friends. We trained every afternoon after school. A lots of snacks, lost lives, blisters in our thumbs, anger and frustration specially on last stage. An later I had "PCST" - Post Contra Stress Disorder. KONAMI was huge in those times.
This Game, Super Metroid, NBA JAM, Mortal Kombat II, Super Castlevania, and the very 1st Super Mario Kart, DKC, Actraiser, plus so many others I can't think of right now, but the 90's were some great time for gaming IMO.
Contra a legendary game ... 👍 Gave me goosebumps when I remember playing it during my school days now I'm married... Thinking about those where the beautiful childhood days 👍 Thank u for the sweet memories 🙏
That game controller has got to have an automatic feature b/c no figure moves that fast and the controllers didn't respond that fast. I soooo miss this game.
The flame thrower finally got the respect it deserved and got a huge upgrade compared to the first two Contras. In Contra III, it was shortrange blowtorch on steroids, and my favorite weapon.
This game really showed off the scaling and rotation features of the SNES which made it better than any other console at the time. I loved this game. My brother and I played it a ton.
I don't know why but the sound effect of the hands coming through the doors at 14:01 has been stuck in my head for the last 30 years. I even replicate the sound randomly out loud.
