Doug is always a super humble dude for having such a ridiculous beast of a drag car. He's what the sport is all about, thanks for doing a little special on him and the car!
I doubt 1320 will reply, but I really enjoy watching these videos. It seems as almost everyone is together as a brotherhood. Y'all stick together and help one another. Really nice to see. Thanks for putting these videos together. :)
Man I about got choked up when he did, it really is great seeing that there are people out there that love what they do so much, and that seem like such amazing people. Can't wait until the day I can build me a little POS for one of the slower classes and come out to one of these events.
This was awesome. I hope you guys do more spotlight type vids like this. Also, the last bits at the end with him chatting and apologizing when her cussed while the helmet cam was on were genuine and human great way to finish it off.
Awesome guy. Happy to see him win it. I like his Camaro. The way the exhaust exits right in front of the back tires. It's cool to see someone do things their own way. Fast as shit too.
from day one i knew doug was going to take it this year sorry larry's S10 is the only car capable of putting down this camaro or tom bailey's camaro but he didn't compete this time so between larry and Doug i knew Doug would take it this year
i like what Doug is doing...his car is much more street looking than most cars running his times, he doesn't tow a trailer, and he's humble....thumbs up!
Its just amazing to me that these guys are running full bodied cars, driving on the street from event to event, and laying down faster times than Funny Cars did in the mid to late 60's.
Don't think iv'e ever been so in awe over 2 guys lol , Doug and Larry have to be the coolest pair of oldschool MF's iv'e ever seen in my life. Every town needs a couple guys like this for younger fellas to look up to , wouldn't it be such a better place to live!. LEGENDS!.
He seems like a really cool guy. I'm sure this is the big tire orange and white first gen Camaro with plastic totes strapped to wheelie bars I saw on the highway a few weeks ago.
Awesome car! I noticed an interesting intake. It seems to have individual intake runners with an elbow. I have never seen an elbow on indiv runners before. I was wondering where it is from?
That's what I love about racing all the guys my be your competition but if you have a issue or need a part they are all there to help you get back going.
Different octane ratings are being used in Australia (and lots of other countries) vs USA. Your 98/100 be about the same as the 91/93 octane here. We like to be different apparently.
turbos will do that lol, jk but 1400 miles is bound to de-populate the bugs a fair bit. not to mention they ride at night as you can see and the bugs love bright lights
They are measuring the octane rating in a different way than for instance Europe. 98 Octane here in sweden actually has a lower octane rating than U.S 91 (RON vs PON) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating
Why does the car keep breaking it's rockers when cruising? Is it because it has a aggressive cam with a long duration and stiff springs which puts extra load when when cruising?
I dont think thats why, sounds like he has it setup for the long drives in between tracks as he mentioned the gears are good for highway cruising. Im curious to know as well, could be anything from valves out of whack to bad batch of rockers from the factory I guess. Im sure some of the motor experts could possibly chime in here better than I can. But you could be right on your assessment though, maybe its a new setup that wasn't tested fully beforehand.
I know right? I thought it was kinda odd as well. I mean it's not like we are dealing with some stamped iron rockers and stuff. Curious to know what it was that caused it.
Could be a ton of things. This engine has had a long life as far as huge hp TT engines go, so it's possible that the valve springs have softened up a bit over time which can cause a lot of stress on the rockers. but my guess is an imperfect valve train in terms of spacing- probably wouldn't hurt a thing on your average hot rod 350 but these engines clearances and lengths are measured to the nearly the same standards as NASA does with their rockets. The engine produces so much heat and energy that even truly slight imperfections will come out and show themselves eventually
Solid lifter camshaft getting idled down the road for hours on end..needs near constant adjustments to keep from clattering.. one gets too loose and snap..
Damn you gotta have money if you driving on those slicks on the road all the time. Also isn't it dangerous af to run skinnies up front on the road? Feel like that's kind of illegal unless it can still stop well.

could"nt have said it better myself

These guys gotta be living the life man, traveling across the US to race all summer. Goals
Funny that the two fastest dudes there are also the coolest dudes there. This is very much on my bucket list.
I know right?
This was awesome. I hope you guys do more spotlight type vids like this. Also, the last bits at the end with him chatting and apologizing when her cussed while the helmet cam was on were genuine and human great way to finish it off.

I second that motion! good to see a stand up guy having all them issues come and take the W ! He earned it for sure! Bad Azz Camaro !
from day one i knew doug was going to take it this year sorry larry's S10 is the only car capable of putting down this camaro or tom bailey's camaro but he didn't compete this time so between larry and Doug i knew Doug would take it this year
Well done gentlemen. Great video as always. You picked an awesome person to follow along. Seems like a genuine guy
drag racers really are like family, always there to lend a hand, awesome video!!
i like what Doug is doing...his car is much more street looking than most cars running his times, he doesn't tow a trailer, and he's humble....thumbs up!
It's great to hear someone so happy to talk about their car and what they're doing to change things up.
America where you can drive a 6 second car on the road. You guys are so lucky
Awesome car and one of the coolest guys out there.
Real gentleman. Deserved the win .
What a lovely guy! Well deserved. 👍
great video guys, love the soundtracks too
Wow, I have around 630HP and can't imagine how it is to put down 2000HP and hook. Amazing car.
Seriously dude..
it's a race car dude.
Lol "its a race car dude".... cant just let someone have their moment can you.
+BiigTee89 no shit its a race car do you make 600hp just to talk to people saying oh i got this hp but dont use it
Great guy, that Doug. This is awsome. We don't get that over here in Europe, an event like this. I was born in the wrong country
I wanna shake this man hand....that thing is a beast💪
Its just amazing to me that these guys are running full bodied cars, driving on the street from event to event, and laying down faster times than Funny Cars did in the mid to late 60's.
car is beautiful. would love to see this run the standing mile! I know it's not at all set up for it.
Damn I hope I find something worth that much dedication someday. Awesome video!
Great VLOG guys and story. Enjoyed watching him finally take the trophy home.
What an absolutely beautiful car and awesome driver! So humble and kind!
Great video! Super cool owner!! They run into problems, they put in work and get it done!!
I give props to those guys, I barely can make that kind of drive in a regular car
One man army +++ Crazy Camaro
TWO HUNDOO!! nice run... holly shit. So much work involved.
That was great, man. What a cool dude and great ending to it all. Now go get him some more rockers.
The aluminum fenders, and the miles put on are impressive. And no trailer? Dude is badass. Way cooler car than some of the longer wheelbase garbage
that first pass was instant thumbs-up
Don't think iv'e ever been so in awe over 2 guys lol , Doug and Larry have to be the coolest pair of oldschool MF's iv'e ever seen in my life. Every town needs a couple guys like this for younger fellas to look up to , wouldn't it be such a better place to live!. LEGENDS!.
Another great video. Almost want to slap a turbo on the LS in my Jeep CJ.
what I love most is that beautiful orange color.
I'm not a Camaro or Chevy guy but that thing is pretty damn clean
That wheel spin at the end👍
not reeeealy wheel spin, they all run with a certain amount of slip, like 10% or something
+shredBucketheadshred still a very sexy camera shot! Counting the rotations before the car goes anywhere
calcagno4545
oh TOTALLY :)
Thats a good ol'boy right there! congrats Doug
He seems like a really cool guy. I'm sure this is the big tire orange and white first gen Camaro with plastic totes strapped to wheelie bars I saw on the highway a few weeks ago.
Awesome video guys!
5:35 those eyes didn't blink once 👀
i wana see this guy take on those outlaw racing guys from Oklahoma... lets go
dude has mad charisma, congrats to him on the win
Good to see doug finally win one!
17 minute video? Shit I'll grab the popcorn
Awesome car! I noticed an interesting intake. It seems to have individual intake runners with an elbow. I have never seen an elbow on indiv runners before. I was wondering where it is from?
Glad to see Doug win he's a nice guy!!
LOL @5:26 Eyeball cam is weird! He doesnt blink until he pulls the chute, lol.
That's what I love about racing all the guys my be your competition but if you have a issue or need a part they are all there to help you get back going.
hell yeah doug. bringing the win back to stanfeild!!
Amazing he can keep it running in good tune while it's eating parts like that
exactly what I was thinking
That sure is one gorgeous Camaro!
Cool guy and a great-looking car!
Beast
To have a car with that power only break rockers and O2 sensors amazes me.
great video and yes that is one bad azz Camaro! Keep up the good work
That's racing!!!
Nice ride
I have met doug. He is the most humble guy ever
Real nice down to earth guy right there. #DougCline
Seems like a super nice guy
Cool! Humble Guy!!
awesome vids!!
Class act,beautiful car !
This real racing!!!!!! Pack that shit up and get to the strip....nothing cooler than that!!!!!!
Still so weird that you guys have to run 91 from the pump. Bit spoilt here in Australia getting 98 at every pump and 100 at some.
Different octane ratings are being used in Australia (and lots of other countries) vs USA. Your 98/100 be about the same as the 91/93 octane here. We like to be different apparently.
+JD Stankosky Hmmm that I did not know, thanks for clearing that up :)
Great to see doug cline win he deserves it!
reminds me of a drag boat you can almost see those tires skimming the tarmac
sweet ass camaro thanks guy's
can anyone tell me why his lifters kept breaking and the 02 sensors kept failing?
wasn't the lifters it was the rockers and maybe the 02 sensors were failing because of the fuel?
+shredBucketheadshred ok why would the rockers break?
An son McKibbin
massive and aggressive cam profiles, limited oiling to the top half of the engine, HUGE spring pressures etc
It's so weird to see a race car like that have bugs splattered all over the front
What about the slicks? Don't they usually last like 1000-1500 miles? And what does he do about the rain when he drives?
They drive through it (the rain)
shit i didnt even realise he didnt swap them out. maybe a buddy carries his in a trailer or something and they swap.
Damn, that thing dumps as much fuel as a diesel lol
Damn that's a shit ton of bugs on the front when he's at the gas station
turbos will do that lol, jk but 1400 miles is bound to de-populate the bugs a fair bit. not to mention they ride at night as you can see and the bugs love bright lights
I love Larry but Doug seems like such a nice dude. Pretty cool he finally got one after all those years and all the broken parts.
why is the highest octane 91? is it everywhere like this in the US?
basically
They are measuring the octane rating in a different way than for instance Europe. 98 Octane here in sweden actually has a lower octane rating than U.S 91 (RON vs PON) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating
Negative. 93 octane is readily available in most states outside of Cali. Also some states have 100 or more octane at the pump!
I never seen 100
amazing owner amazing Camaro
FUCK yes. That's allot bald eagles screaming goin down the road bubba
what colour is that?
Doug cline AKA Cool Hand Luke
Legit fella
One badass car.
That title.. is Larry doing it as a foot race?
last i remembrr this car was running 3100 plus horses not 2200hp
You must be thinking of the other 69 Camaro that runs, it's more of a bronze orange, like a burnt color, I'm assuming
Were from in N.C?
Why does the car keep breaking it's rockers when cruising? Is it because it has a aggressive cam with a long duration and stiff springs which puts extra load when when cruising?
I dont think thats why, sounds like he has it setup for the long drives in between tracks as he mentioned the gears are good for highway cruising. But you could be right on your assessment though, maybe its a new setup that wasn't tested fully beforehand.
A rocker fail is too much ratio, normally. They must have real nice heads and studs...takes a lot of strength to bust rockers.
I know right? I thought it was kinda odd as well. I mean it's not like we are dealing with some stamped iron rockers and stuff. Curious to know what it was that caused it.
***** what do you mean by "ratio" ?
+MrManuel1329 Compression ratio
this is what it's all about...
I was just wondering what causes an engine to eat so many rockers? improper clearances?
Could be a ton of things. This engine has had a long life as far as huge hp TT engines go, so it's possible that the valve springs have softened up a bit over time which can cause a lot of stress on the rockers. but my guess is an imperfect valve train in terms of spacing- probably wouldn't hurt a thing on your average hot rod 350 but these engines clearances and lengths are measured to the nearly the same standards as NASA does with their rockets. Solid lifter camshaft getting idled down the road for hours on end..needs near constant adjustments to keep from clattering.. one gets too loose and snap..
What happened to Mr. Larson and that BA Camaro??
6:37 what are air cleaners??
awsome
Damn you gotta have money if you driving on those slicks on the road all the time. Also isn't it dangerous af to run skinnies up front on the road? Feel like that's kind of illegal unless it can still stop well.
Ive done it lol, in the rain boy. Its scary as hell 💀😂. Na slicks are cheap when you know good people.
aww I almost cried
is thatbthe camaro that went into the sand at the end of a track and filled the turbos up with sand
So where was the "battle?"
lol I can barely understand what that guy is saying. "parka darka durka durka dorka duuur" XD
need to manufacture your own rockers
nice
why was the engine breaking so many rockers?!
