Nice to see this fruit! I just discovered it’s existance lately! I have never tasted it yet, but if it’s somehow like regular tamarillo, skin is usually not eaten. It’s edible, but not good tasting. Tamarillo pulp is usually used to make juices and smoothies. Even jam or ketchup! I don’t know if it’s possible to do the same with these because of their size
Cool, sounds a bit to much like tomato for me I bought a pearl mango the other day first time I tried, must of been picked to early and not that good but could see its potential and the texture was pretty awesome. If I wasn’t being fair I wouldn’t try it again and say it was crap but reckon a homegrown would be one of the best
I just tried two fruit on mine for the first time last week - it tasted sweet but also a gross bitter aftertaste, which I find super gross. Ive got two trees and I’ll only keep one of them now 😂
Thanks for the updates on those fruits Doug 😀
Do a full tour soon

Haha yeah I think you would need a thousand fruit! I have eaten a few more since the video and they are not getting any nicer, weird vegetable taste.
@@dougs_urbanfarm well, it's good to know! Maybe it's not the best! or for jam? who knows! 😂
I had them at Phillip Wilson's place, I thought they were pretty nice. The skin is resinous though.
They had a vegetable taste to me, and yeah the skin was awful, only tried that once.

Interesting, i wonder what species it is, might be hardier than the regular large fruited tamarillo
Cyphomandra abutiloides apparently.

Yeah I've eaten a few more, that will do me! This tree will be getting chipped.
