Fields of Gold

This #SlowAirSunday features a love song called "Fields of Gold" that was written by Sting in 1993 on his Album "Ten Summoners Tales." This beautiful song has many interpretations which change for many of us as we experience Life, Love and Loss. It celebrates the beautiful moments in life and holding onto hope that true love conquers death. When we experience great Love it comes with so many beautiful Golden moments that take our breath away. When we lose the ones we love the pain is deep. This song brings with it a sense of faith and hope that one day we will meet again.
I was asked by a family to play this at a Memorial service for their beloved Grandfather who loved this song. I want to dedicate this rendition of "Fields of Gold" to Navy Veteran Richard Joseph Lesch. This will always be your song to me. I am honored to play this in memory of the great love that Richard has for his family. Rest Easy Sailor. Til we meet again.

You definitely play with your heart and soul and I can hear it in every one of your tunes. I sense you have gypsy blood and it courses through your veins just like me when you play and get in to the zone. I have just recently picked up the bagpipes again after many years of falling out of love with them and I think I have found a kindred spirit in you. I have been resonating with your wonderful recitals of 'She moved through the fair' and 'Suibhail'. The former tune bringing me to tears. A big thing for a masculine Glaswegian :) Where can I get the bagpipe music for Suibhail? I don't mind paying for it in some way. There is not only a folk sound to these tunes but for some curious reason they also remind me of the American Indians. Maybe their sense of loss, maybe the sense of freedom they convey as the tunes seem to float on the wind like free birds.
