You forgot; LARGEST artilley capability in Western Europe.
Another issue, everyone keeps repeating the 800 miles border thing. When looking at a topographical map, it quickly turns out that of those 800 miles, no more than 50 miles are suitable ground for the kind of tank and mechanized warfare the Russian military favours. There are areas in the North of Finland where the ground clares again and tanks are usable, but more than half of that 800 mile leads to lakes and easily defended crossings.

Forgot to mention that Finland also has one of the largest artillery forces in Europe....look how important artillery has been in Ukraine and do your conclusions how strong Finland actually is. Lets just say Russia would need double or triple the amount of troops and vehicles to have any kind of success even if we would not be part of NATO, plus we have the geography on our side as well, Russian land forces would have hard time to make it through all the forests and lakes we have close to our borders, essentially the only way they could move forward is through the roads and well you know how that has worked out for them in Ukraine...
Honestly as Finn I very much doubt Russia would have attacked us were we part of NATO or not...but NATO membership was/is the final thing we needed to maximize our security, plus its the biggest middle finger we could give to Putin for invading Ukraine, so im in full support of it. Could give us the benefit to get weapon systems and any future vehicles at lower cost too!
The moment Russia chose to attack Ukraine was the final straw that they chose to cut any good or atleast decent relationship with us.

Finland didnt fight USSR when we gained our independence. Lenin agreed to give Finland its independence in 1917 thinking that we would fold back in to USSR after their civil war. Finland did have a civil war of its own in 1918 where reds (communists) with some russian volunteers and whites (legal government) with a little help from germans fought each other. After the war, volunteers went to estonia and karelia to fight for their independence in what we call heimosodat (tribalwars- or kinshipwars). During peace time our defence forces consists of 20 000 professional soldiers and officers, but our war time army strength is 280 000. Finland also has 900 000 reservists who have completed their conscription.

Having the introduction proclaiming that FInland has never been occupied is a stretch isn't it?
From the conflicts with the Soviet Union during of World War 2 Finland lost 12% of their total land area, 20% of its industrial capacity, its second-largest city, Vyborg (Viipuri), and the ice-free port of Liinakhamari (Liinahamari). Almost the whole Finnish population, some 400,000 people, fled these areas (Wikipedia).
So not only did Finland get occupied (partially), but they actually lost these regions to the Soviet Union.
Worth of note is that these regions didn't only get taken over in the sense of who controls the territory,
but also, in line with how the Soviet operated, was repopulated by Soviet citizens as the regional Finish citizens had to flee.
My understanding is that the Finnish people in general no longer have any interest whatsoever in ever reclaiming these territories as there no longer is anything Finnish about them other than that they once very much were.

Finland, since it's independence in 1917, has not been occupied by a foreign invader. It's irrelevant to mention the partial occupation and territories lost to the USSR in WW2, when the USSR never after that occupied the rest of the country like with most of eastern Europe after the war. However, there were concerns that this was going to happen from 1945 onwards, and there were people involved with the military who stockpiled weaponry in secret stashes to arm guerrilla forces to fight a possible occupation from the Soviets. This thankfully never came to pass though. The Finnish capital, Helsinki, is also one of the few European capitals of a country involved in WW2 that was not occupied by a foreign force. So based on this, I don't think it's a stretch at all.

Finland didn't exist then, nor did it during Swedish rule, Finland as a nation became later. So you are wrong.
We were invaded but not occupied, not in winter war nor during continuation war, that is a fact, our capital was one of the few that didn't face enemy forces during WWII, even Russia had that, but we didn't as our defensive lines held to the end of the war.
Yes, the peace treaty dictated that we loose part of Karelia, but it had nothing to do with the lines dranw in war. Most of the war between us took place in Russia, not in Finland. Also that land mass was only 10% of our land, not so much.
But sure, if you feel brave enough, feel free to come here and test us, this time we have army, back then we didn't.

In WW2 Russia had 10-30 times more troops, tanks, artillery and airplanes, than Finland.
They could not take Finland. They tried in 1939 and 1944, and could only advance few tens of kilometers at max.
After WW2 Stalin could have tried again anytime, but he did not try anymore, because he knew how bad it went in WW2..
In Finnish front, over 1 million dead or wounded Russians between 1939 and 1944.
That was same amount as Soviet losses in Stalingrad - against small Finland.

Finland will move away from AK-pattern, but not because of Nato. The current platform and the old 7.62x39 ammunition are coming to the end of their service life. The procurement for new rifle is already on the way. It began before the crisis in Ukraine. It will most likely be a Sako-produced AR-pattern weapon in 5.56 or 7.62 Nato. There has already been some "leaked" pictures of new weapons. They are planned to enter service after 2025.

Hmmm ... Finland was never 'occupied' by Sweden. The South-West areas of Finland were integrally involved in the overall historical process that ended in the a political entity that was called Kingdom of Sweden. That means the subjects of the Crown o the 'Finnish' side of the Gulf of Bothnia had exactly the same obligations and rights as the folks on the 'Swedish' side.
BTW I don't claim that all this happened totally peacefully and that the situation of the peasantry was always not anything to envy. But that this all applies both to the 'Swedish' and 'Finnish' sides of the realm.
However they were quite obviously talking about the time after the declaration of the independence.

they meant "never occupied" more as in the government and independence of finland was preserved, they did lose fairly significant chunks of land following the winter war but the country of finland still existed, independent from moscow
this of course does not take into account the fact finland wasn't an independent nation for most of its history, but in the context of the video they're talking about the post-1918 modern nation of finland

Finland wasn't occupied by the USSR, they signed the armstice because the Soviets wanted the peace as much as the Finns did because their losses were too high (Stalin's officers promised Finland to Stalin and Stalin even decided the new government "Kuusinen" but it never happened). The Finns won almost all of the battles but techincally lost the war because Stalin wanted to be the winner. Finland was never part of the Soviet Union like the Baltics did (the only country in the Stalin's group he got in the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact but never got). The Winter War was one of the reasons why Hitler launched the Operation Barbarossa because he thought the Soviet Union is weak because the had so hard time with the Finns.

You're confusing to Moscow Peace Treaty which was not occupation, it was agreement between Finland and the Soviet Union). You can also watch the Winter war documentary made in Russia with their veterans (Зимняя война / Bair Irincheev), it says Stalin needed to get the peace as much as the Finns did because the losses were too high.

We got that covered by ourselves.
