I use both size cans for storing tow chains. Your standard 20' tow chain stays clean, stores nicely in the truck. The Fat 50 can hold a 20' tow rope and a couple of medium snatch blocks.
I keep all my recovery gear and winch stuff in a 40mm ammo can. Makes it easy to grab and pull stuff out. Keeps all the mess contained too when stuff gets muddy or all wet from snow.
I learned from my great uncle he and I are electricians and we put our tools in metal ammo cans to do our work looks like a national guard supply room in the shop lol
I use a 30 cal can for 4 standard glock mags, 1 33rnd, and one 50rnd, with a glock 17 and glock stock. all fits perfectly, not too snug and not rattling around either.
This is exactly how I store my PMAG’s alternating them. I fit eighteen 30rd mags, and two P60 drums one down, and one up. I use the 5.56 ball Ammo can, and in another I fit boxes of .45, and my 1911. I also use the tall thin rocket ammo cans for MRE’s I can fit two boxes in one can laid flat under my bed.
If you are going to bug out, have enough large empty cans to transfer important papers from your fireproof box/safe to the water tight ammo cans. You can double up on water proofing by using freezer (stronger) ziplok bags, or even use your food sealer ( you can always cut and reseal) instead of relying on the ziplok bag seals.
I bought a dozen of the.50 caliber ammo cans from Clean Ammo Cans. Haven’t even opened the box yet. But I’m getting ready to. I have some new ammunition to put in them. Clean Ammo Cans is supposed to have some of the best surplus ammo cans out there. A dozen of them will hold a lot of ammunition.
Just wondering how many loaded 30 round 7.62x39 AK mags would fit into a 50 cal ammo can or a SAW ammo can? I think that at least 6 would fit into a 30 cal ammo can laying on its side and I know that both the 50 cal and SAW ammo cans are significantly larger. Thanks
@@GunsandTactics I figured metal GI mags would hold together. There are a lot of questions about cracking and feed lip damage to Pmags over time, especially gen 1&2 before dust covers.
Hi Dave, I make desiccant and VCI packs for ammo boxes to defend against corrosion. I'm not looking for a plug or anything, I was just hoping if I can send you some samples to test and provide your opinion if these are something you would use. I'm a small start-up in IL and would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks, Pat
Im planning to get some ammo cans to store my fully loaded 30 round mags for my a.r. And for my a.k. what size can fits them best with least wasted space
Solder a bare metal contact point (for a detachable solid bolt - for bugging out) to the largest can you can get. Attach a heavy gauge copper wire to the contact point (bolt to the can). Run the other end of the wire to a permanent copper ground rod or pipe going straight down into the ground. The longer, and deeper, the better (2 to 3 feet long?). Be very careful not to penetrate water, sewage, or electrical lines. Now you have a Faraday Box for an extra phone, a small laptop computer, or electronic medical devices, etc., that would survive an E.M.P.! Line the inside with cardboard. Nothing should touch the inside metal surface. Another option is to use a large metal garbage can, using aluminum tape for A/C duct work to seal the lid. Be sure to waterproof all the contents, individually.
Use the same ammo can he recommends for “block mags” I don’t own OEM block mags, I own American made PMags and Amend2 32-34 round mags. They stack top to base just fine.
Shove your hand into your junk drawer or under the seat in your truck . whatever writing or scratching thing you find ...use that . did you really ask about what marker he used ? A Marker .
Brothers. Had a big falling out. Royalties. Licensing rights. Copyright issues. It got ugly. He went his way. I went mine. Just kidding. Same guy this is where I publish my new content. I had a video on LF announcing the move. :-)
did I miss the mention of silica gel packs?....hmmm conditions of interior matter more than how the hell you stack them.unless you like rusted springs?
I had a side opening 50cal as a toolbox in my car along time ago...I wish I didn't get rid of it because I can't find another...at least in good shape 😞.
the first thing taught to everyone from basic military in the uk army. was you never leave rounds in a mag for long periods that was a basic even on ops in afgan we would unload mags weekly and strip and clean never ever leave rounds in the mags as will damage the spring long term
@@GunsandTactics That suppose to mean something? Military budgets are from lowest bidder, they dont have say in anything where budget cuts are enforced by higher power.
I do agree that a lot of military contracts are based on cost however if you read the studies regarding magazine durability tests it just might surprise you how well the plastic magazines perform.
@@GunsandTactics I just do not see it that way. They function, Im ok with that. But do they out perform in anyway that they should be considered in a kit. Hell NO. They have much greater failure points. Absolutely zero way to repair them too. You can repair a bent or dinged alloy mag. You can NOT repair a chipped feed lips or cracked body of a plastic mag. Besides for the price of plastic you are paying for some quality manufacturer. You can literally buy two high quality alloy mags like for an example surefeed or GI mags. Not only that your sacrificing quality but your overpaying too. I get what you’re saying but the reality is magazines are a disposable consumable item. I have gone through numerous metal magazines as well so it is just one of those things that you have to keep up on. For what it’s worth I have had far less issues with pmags then I have with US G.I. metal mags. We have a couple hundred of each that we would issue at classes, pool mags etc I know my data size sample is only a couple hundred of each but we replaced the USGI mags more often and had less and less issues with PMags so we started using those more and more.
I got a backpack filled with mags i call the mag bag lol
"Like Tupper wear, but for men!"
I like the old 5 cell comblock AK mag pouches. It keeps the mags protected, portable and organized- AR and AK

As always, great video! I also store excess med supplies and misc gun parts/accessories (until my garage is complete) in Fat 50s.
Thank you!
I keep all my recovery gear and winch stuff in a 40mm ammo can. Makes it easy to grab and pull stuff out. Keeps all the mess contained too when stuff gets muddy or all wet from snow.
Anything would be better then the grocery plastic bags I use my AR mags.
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for uploading!

Use the "69" technique for the PMags so they fit better.
THE AMERICAN RIFLE / 5.56 what is that?

For float trips, we use saw cans for chips and bread. Keeps them from getting crushed and wet.
My grandfather wants to be cremated, he wants his ashes to be placed in a small ammo can because it is sealable.
Anthony Shepard lol

Also work great for storing snow chains

Home made med kits are a good use for the smaller cans.
Now i can fit all my 90 10rnd mags in one box. Thank you :)
Keeping garden seeds for prepping in them.
I have the tuff plastic type, and keep 50+ cigars with 1 moisture cup.. humidity is great but still place a cedar stick inside...

Is 50 cal containers safe to store food? I planning to use one as fancy Tupperware)
Great video
Yes....Store the AR mags "69" fashion, works at my house...
I keep my towing straps and net in a can behind my truck seat. I buy cans when I have the space and money.
Will leaving mags in airtight ammo cans cause damage to springs?
Very informative.
great vid thanks
Can you store ammo in the mag for a long time in the Can
Use silicone on the gasket and bearing grease on the lid hinge inserts. The can will last forever!
Some dude who went to Home Depot silicone/glue aisle: “I can’t open it now! It’s sealed shut”

I take craps in an ammo can when I go camping. I also use it to cook food over the fire

any effects to the mags with long term storage?

A standard .50 cal ammo can will fit 24 AR15 mags standing upright like he showed them in the fat .50 can.
I would be interested how the poly mags and feed lips held up 4 years later! The Ammo should be fine, but what condition are the mags in?
I found some usgi mags that have been loaded for 15 years I’ll make a video
