When you do that, people who are also going can see the profile of the person who RSVP'd and there was a Japanese girl who contacted me and sent private messages on the event site saying she was going too, but she wanted to meet me first and have dinner before we went to the large group. I thought this was fine and agreed to meet, so we just met in a public place and we went to dinner after. Everything was fine from that point so after eating, we went to the language exchange event, but apparently it had been cancelled. I was pretty bummed out, so I was going to head back home since I literally had nothing else to do that night, but the girl asked if I wanted to go to a bar for a drink, which of course I know a lot of Japanese do after work. I agreed to have just 1 drink and we went to the bar. After being in the bar, I had my drink and just casually talked to her and was getting ready to leave, though she asked if she could sit next to me. I said "sure why not?" Though it's still odd since most Japanese are quite shy. After sitting next to me, we talked for another minute but then she suddenly put her hand on my leg and asked "where do you wanna go after this?" and at first I was thinking "uhhh well I'll be going home, but then she said "can we go somewhere alone?" I was super surprised by how forward she was, though I think this was her purpose from the start to meet me just to later have fun, but I had declined since I literally just met this girl and didn't know anything about her. There are stories of these kinds of girls who do this stuff and then try to charge you money when going to a hotel, so I wasn't gonna let that happen. Super shady.
