Hope you guys like this one! I've been following this for quite some time now and it's finally reached public early access. I'm doing a full series on this and will likely jump in to cover it more when it receives future updates too!
18 minutes at 2x, is 9 minutes -- that means getting odd-high and in odd-withdrawl faster than most can handle. This is a dangerously short teaser. people may need help
Do a playthrough of this and Barotrauma next. Similar vibe, terror, horror, different take on ragdoll physics. Can be a bit harder solo but the a.i is much more relaiable than like a year ago. More fun with friends or even strangers bu also more immersive regarding lone horror feel solo. Like parking sub by a cave for some minerals to plasma cut into for so to deliver to the respective mining outpost etc
So... I'm totally just going to die of heart attack if Odd keeps backing up on a ledge while shooting. That's a thing that'll happen in my life now lol.
I am guessing the 'We' in the 'We can now go forward with heavy machinery', means the company/whoever sent you. Your team is like, the Recon/Scout unit, investigating the area, before the actual army or true full force comes in behind you and clears everything out. So your opening shortcuts for them to take, not yourself. So the more extra stuff you do, would mean less that the secondary main force behind you has to do. Such as unlocking main areas, clearing infestations maybe, maybe some places are without power and you power it back on, maybe you find something useful. Who knows. --- Lots of people don't realise this, but 'Recon' and 'Scouts' DO more than just 'Move ahead and look for enemies'. They are usually the ones doing some of the most hardest work, such as setting up ambush areas for the main army to use, or assassinating potential risks, or Sabatoging the enemy so the main force has it easier, or unlocking the front door for the main army to sneak in, hunting animals and cooking them so there is food by the time the army arrives. They do a LOT of the 'Prep Work' lol For example. Ever noticed in an Army game, if you invade into a town, you might find a Tent already set up with plans on it by the time your character gets there? That's the work of the Recon/Scout unit. And YOU seem to be that role in this game. Not just investigating what the heck happened, but also setting everything up for the rest of the company/group coming in AFTER you.
This game's atmosphere and subdued soundtrack remind me of quake, but with more horror. Looks great! The indie space really is the last bastion of creativity in the medium.
Here's a tip: if you played an older version of the game: You are unable to reload while on a rapel rope. If you play the updated version: You are able to reload while on a rapel rope edit: 12:12 you can just shoot the tentacles monster, bait yourself with the monster and move back from its reach. you can pull out your gun shoot it
I always feel bad, when mr Odd says to set the vibe and I know I am just listening to him playing while working.... I feel bad for it... but then again... it really helps me to feel good during workhours, so...
Sign: “Don’t step on that floor, it’s slippery.” Chris: “I’m gonna step on that floor.” Sign: “Don’t, there’s a cliff right there! You’ll fall to your death!” Chris: “I’m gonna do it...” Sign: “Don’t! You’re gonna die!” Chris: “Here I go steppin’ again.” _(Chris dies.)_
WOW! Wasn't really convinced on the explanation, but, after watching, I'm convinced! What a tension-filled thriller of a game! Definitely see the Alien influence here.
I got the same vibe too. Not to discount barotrauma though, it's much more physics based than this is. Animations here are significantly more controlled and linear, where in barotrauma they're just suggestions for your ragdoll of a body lol
Same vibes.. oh yes! Hidden Deep is set on Earth/ Tellus/ Gaia/ Terra/ Teias. Under the oceanfloor. Presumably the Mariana Trench. Barotrauma is set on Jupiters moon Europa, beneath the thick icy crust. Between stations and outposts dotted between Europas rockhard ice chunks and...well rocks and biozones with just as terror inducing animals, aliens and monsters. Love em both!
This game is fantastic. All about the ambient creepy sounds that make you feel uncomfortable and threats looming everywhere. Have seen only like an hr of gameplay and totally in love with the concept.
It may be dark but I'd say calling it a horror game is a bit of a stretch. None of the enemies are really scary (that I've encountered in my first hour of playing), sometimes they are just annoying like with the worm creature just essentially being a beginners trap. Its essentially a glorified puzzle/exploration game with a dark theme
I just fired Flashback up for fun the other day. The remake you can get through the Ubisoft (I'm pretty sure it's them) launcher is... okay. It loses something of the original.
Maybe I'm totally spoiled with 90 min Xcom videos and 3 hour Dying Light-streams, but what kind of snack-sized upload was this, Odd?!? This game looks amazing, eerie setting, great sound design, UI-homage to original Fallout/Wastelands, cool game mechanics even this early on in the game.... I look forward to more!
This gives me some strong "Stasis" vibes, I think you´ve played it in a livestream long ago, if you are in the mood for more Stasis 2 is going to drop soon-ish, might be a good pick if you are still in the mood for horror games
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing! The movement and momentum, and the way you climb down the ledges and jump over gaps looks very close to the old original Prince of Persia, very cool!
The game looks really nice! But is there an option to scale the UI? I hate how nowadays with the super-dupper high screen resolution in games the UI elements are so small that you need James Webb telescope to see the amount of ammo you have :D
Apparently the game now explicitely recommends playing at 1600x900 to avoid UI problems So it may not be in the cards Still, you really don't need more than that for this game
I am actually playing it at the recommended resolution and still I need to lean my head towards monitor if I want to see the UI and map. I hope in the future updates there will be an option added to scale the UI. But other than that, the game looks and plays fantastic!
Chris would you be so kind contemplating a playthrough of 'Planet Crafter' (End of March I think)? It's like a terraforming-subnautica-thingy. You'd probably want it.
Looks cool. I learned about it through FightinCowboy. Glad you're picking it up to. I'm curious to see if you are going to get as "salty" as everyone else I've watched playing it hah. Apparently the controls can get a little over whleming at times of panic.
I'm defo buying the game now and its got 64% off right now so even more perfect. I'm a massive fan john carpenters the thing so this will be amazing as there's not much like the thing out there
What the? For me those flying bugs looks... different, not so fat and have a slight greyish, sharper chitin like head. Some random new game quirk or do you play an older version? Here in Norway the game unlocked on Steam, 3 or 4 hours ago and its 22: 26.
Prince of Persia controls and player physics. Nice. I always sucked at prince of persia. But maybe I was just too young back the. This setting is more appealing though, I'll give at least the video a try.

But it's still lacking

Yes, please! This looks amazing!

You play the best games so well, Mr Odd. Top Shelf.
So... I'm totally just going to die of heart attack if Odd keeps backing up on a ledge while shooting. That's a thing that'll happen in my life now lol.
9:16 🤣 "warning slippery surface" walks on it, ragdolls dramatically off ledge and dies... WHOA it is pretty slippery! thanks for the laughs Chris 👍😄

Odd: "I haven't played a real good Sci-Fi in a long time"
Xcom: "Am I a joke to you?"
Especially this season.
This one might be more accurate.
This game's atmosphere and subdued soundtrack remind me of quake, but with more horror. Looks great!
The indie space really is the last bastion of creativity in the medium.
I get giddy whenever Odd says to set the vibe! There are not enough youtubers caring about the vibe.

The one thing i always love about your video series' is your "set the vibe" advice
don't think i would've ever found out about this game unless you hopped on it. much love !

Excellent upload, Sir! Very "deep" game indeed.
WOW! Wasn't really convinced on the explanation, but, after watching, I'm convinced! What a tension-filled thriller of a game! Definitely see the Alien influence here.
It looks like Baratrauma but with way better optimization and animations. Also, it gives me those vibes that should be present in this game. Cool
I got the same vibe too. Not to discount barotrauma though, it's much more physics based than this is. Animations here are significantly more controlled and linear, where in barotrauma they're just suggestions for your ragdoll of a body lol

And way less content and potential.
Looks sick! The logo looks almost exactly like the SOMA logo heh
yup, somehow remind me of SOMA too!
So excited for this play through and didn’t even know it! Glad you’re exploring extra it is so satisfying. Can’t wait for more!
This game is fantastic. All about the ambient creepy sounds that make you feel uncomfortable and threats looming everywhere. Have seen only like an hr of gameplay and totally in love with the concept.

I'm so glad Mauler told me about you. Love your playthroughs. Cheers!
Gives me a little nostalgia for games like Flashback and Gemini Rue
I just fired Flashback up for fun the other day. The remake you can get through the Ubisoft (I'm pretty sure it's them) launcher is... okay. It loses something of the original.
Wow, that's a more realistic metroidvania-ish kinda of game. Very cool.
Psychoghost did a playthrough of this during early access. Looks fantastic.
So happy to see you playing it Oddball!
Vibe set! So keen to get my teeth into this one
Looks cool! Excited for another video!
I like it! The tension it provides despite the simplicity of its art style is commendable!
This is so cool! I'm already loving this.
Love the side scroller vibe, can't wait for the next ep!
All I can say is I'm glad you're playing it and not me. I could never play through this
pretty interesting game, looks pretty good, too! I look forward to seeing more of it!
Very cool - looking forward to this :)
Wow, I love the atmosphere of this! Can't wait to get into it.
Thing vibes on this one
This gives me some strong "Stasis" vibes, I think you´ve played it in a livestream long ago, if you are in the mood for more Stasis 2 is going to drop soon-ish, might be a good pick if you are still in the mood for horror games
Reminds me quite a lot of Prince of Persia. I loved it back in the day.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing! The movement and momentum, and the way you climb down the ledges and jump over gaps looks very close to the old original Prince of Persia, very cool!
I love Daedalic it's one of the best german publishers
The game looks really nice! But is there an option to scale the UI? I hate how nowadays with the super-dupper high screen resolution in games the UI elements are so small that you need James Webb telescope to see the amount of ammo you have :D

Looks awesome!
Daedalic's come a loooong way!
This game looks great! Def going to buy a copy, thanks!!
I would love to have this on the Switch! This is my type of genre for games and movies!
Movement, even graphics reminds of "Flashback" game.
I wonder if this game will have the same kind of stealth/hide elements as Flashback had.
The character movement gives me such prince of persia (og back on the Amiga) vibes!
You have such an eye for interesting projects
Chris would you be so kind contemplating a playthrough of 'Planet Crafter' (End of March I think)?
It's like a terraforming-subnautica-thingy. You'd probably want it.
Intriguing!!
This is like Peter Watt's Rifters trilogy
Cool !!
Movement reminds me of Prince of Persia on Apple II.
Bro stood there and let the little fleshy boy touch him twice
Curiosity, where did the other vids in the playlist go or are they cued for release?
You HAVE to co-op with luckless on this
Looks cool. I learned about it through FightinCowboy. Glad you're picking it up to. I'm curious to see if you are going to get as "salty" as everyone else I've watched playing it hah. Apparently the controls can get a little over whleming at times of panic.
The movement is jank, but if you go slow you don't have to fight the controls that much
Hoping they get it fixed for 1.0
Yeah I've been playing some and got a feel for it. Play cautiously and it tends to click. But yeah definitely some little touch ups needed.
reminds me of carrion
Girl I am just watching this now and I am so scared.
14:43 my man!
Nice!
I'm defo buying the game now and its got 64% off right now so even more perfect. I'm a massive fan john carpenters the thing so this will be amazing as there's not much like the thing out there
reminds me of the old Prince of Persia DOS game. ;)
You missed checking the bottom of the very first pit you jumped over at the start ^^;
What the? For me those flying bugs looks... different, not so fat and have a slight greyish, sharper chitin like head. Some random new game quirk or do you play an older version? Here in Norway the game unlocked on Steam, 3 or 4 hours ago and its 22: 26.

The title screen reminded me of SOMA. Same dev?
I don’t think that Daedelic has any bad games.
This game looks so sick....🔥🔥🔥
8:45 LEL

*Single shot ... single shot ... single shot single shot ... single shot single shot single shot ... turns single shot into full auto and barely survives*
Game looks really cool.
damn this looks SICK
Is this prequel for Carrion?
Want more ASAP!
Game says: Shoot at walls to attract nearby enemies
Odd; doesn't do this
Classic Odd.
Ammo is limited and if you run out you have to restart
Still, you can use the harpoon to attract enemies (which is unlimited) but the game doesn't tell you that and it's still slow
Very similar in look and playstyle to The Fall.
They should release it on console. This seems really fun to play but I don't have a pc
this game reminds me of Plasma Burst 1 and 2
This game kinda reminds me of barotrauma
whats the thumbnail image from? i want to use that for my D&D game i'm running to make my party shit themselves.
Nice game
Old school prince of Persia or Blackthorne.
Likes earey 😈
Yo what's the thing in thumbnail
This is one of those games that is going to have some great r34.
lol what how?
Whatchu been smoking, homeboy?
I've been waiting for a game like this for years

Bummer...side scroller. Hard to get immersed in that.
Iunno, dude, from the comments this seems like a you problem.
No console version well sheiit
Psssh… this isn’t that scary… then I found a silverfish in a pile of clothes while watching and just about jumped out of my skin 😂
