    As a German I would never buy a simple Brezel for 2,90€...they usually go at a bakery for 90Cents...

      Yeah I’ve had a few people mention that it was a bad price, I’m not German so I couldn’t know the difference but even I thought it was at least a little high

    The chicken FoodTrucks you find them everywhere over Germany, outside from big Grocerie Stores or on weekly Farmers Markets and any where else!

      Finally, I was waiting for an answer on this, thank you. I wasn’t sure if they were common because I only saw the one in Leipzig and wasn’t sure if it was popular. Now I know 😂

      @@gofortheunknown for some years ago in West-Germany and Austria there was a Restaurant chain with the Name "Wienerwald",the most meals were with roast-chicken/Brathähnchen!

    € 2,90 for a plain Pretzel is in the high price range, I agree on that.
    I could buy a pretzel filled with cheese spread (Philadelphia) and chives for € 2,40. That's actually a good price to me.

      @gofortheunknown  Рік тому +3

      Wow I knew it couldn’t be a good price, glad I have confirmation now!

    As an older german, I call every "Wurst-Semmel" over 2.00€ or 2.50€ expensive... 🙂

    I can understand that you hate american "mustard" aka the yellow stuff. In europe there are many variations, like the spicy ones (Löwensenf scharf), the ones with whole seeds and selected vinegar, the sweet mustard from bavaria. Those are different stuff. Not that you get those on your common streetstand, but in supermarkets.

    @5:30 It is at the upper end of the spectrum.. The Christmasmarket is the most expensive place to eat a currywurst, noneseless because the lease is so expensive. 🤫
    @0:01 €6 for a döner? That was more like 4 or 3.50 a few years ago but it is okay, since you have options. 👍 The most expensive fast food item in GER is IMHO a vegan burrito.

    Rotisserie chicken is common anywhere in Germany. If you can't find a food truck in the streets, you will on a parking lot of some huge mall or so right next to the entrance.

    For the best "Frikadelle" you take minced meat "halb und halb"* or even better 50 percent pure minced beef (German name "Beefhack"**) and 50 percent mixed minced meat. That will then reduce the pork content to 25% logically. The minced meat is then mixed with spices, chopped onions and raw eggs to give it a "doughy" consistency or texture. If you want to stretch it you may add some bread or breadcrumbs. Whether bread belongs into the mix or not is some kind of religious warfare in Germany. Some people may joke that in the end the baker will have won over the butcher when the taste of meat has almost vanished, others say it has a positive effect on the texture, making it more fluffy. * Butchers usually have two sorts of minced meat ready made in their shelfs. You can easily see that. If it is a lighter, pinkish colour with some white dots in it it is half beef and half pork, therefore called 'half and half' for short. **The darker minced meat is pure beef. But why that half German-half English name "Beefhack" and not "Rinderhack"? We have take the term "beefsteak" into our language and that is the background of that usage.

    Well as others have mentioned - the price for your pretzel was street robbery you can see that if you compare it to the other prices. Besides Kaps is a chain that sells industrial stuff, you'll get the real deal at smaller bakeries. The rotisserie chicken is also common in Germany - I can't bleive you've got a hole one for 2,80 €. Was it only one leg? Even that would be a fair price. Only one thing to mention - you named chapter five "Ross Bratwurst" which would mean "Horse Sausage" the correct name is "Rost Bratwurst" which translates to "Roast Sausage".

      @gofortheunknown  Рік тому

      I now know about the robbery yes haha. It was one leg but a big one at that, if someone told me that was expensive I would’ve be shocked. I did actually let UA-cam name my chapters but thanks for letting me know, I won’t me doing that in the future.😅

      I’ll give it to you, I thought the same thing about ketchup on schnitzel but it’s extremely common! I’ve been in Leipzig Germany for about a month now and I mentioned it in so many videos I guess I forgot in this one haha. I’m sure my lady will be in the videos soon!

      I wouldn't call it 'Hendl' he was in East Germany after all, here it's called 'Broiler'.
      But one way or the other, these things are amazing! 😋

    If Rostbratwurst then Thüringer 😉 like if Currywurst then in Berlin. That's the origins. Btw Döner is from Berlin, too. But the original Döner didn't have chicken, but a mix from lamb and calf (or at least beef)

    3,90€ for a "Currywurst" is much to expensive. One and a half year ago it would be 2€ but Corona and the russian dictator/murder is the reason, that german streetfood is more expensive.

    • @gofortheunknown
      @gofortheunknown  Рік тому +1

      I thought it seemed expensive because of how little you got for such a high price but almost everything was the same price so it seemed normal. Thanks for the insight! 😃
