Joao Almeida I am from England love the Brazil 1970 and 1982 team The quality and skill of Brazilian midfielders and centre forwards have gone worse though over the years What's the reason for that ?
i love the futebol of Holland, yes I too I LOVE Dutch football and especially the referees... But in the final one what I LOVED THE MOST WAS TAYLOR ! WHEN HE FUCKED CRUYFF I was hoping he'd give him red... but in order not to completely demolish Holland he only gave him yellow!
True football fans should not laugh at Zaire. This is a reminder of how football has developed since then. In only 8 years to come, African teams already stunned the world stage -- when Algeria defeated the winners of 1974 edition; Cameroon gave serious trouble to Italy. Finally, the African soil hosted the 2010 edition.
Yep especially in 1990, the Cameroons scared the living daylights out of our boys in Italy and Morocco last Christmas reaching the semis. So they're getting warmer.
Anyone remember the old analogue link up telephone commentary and the hordes of cameramen behind the goal. Celebrating goals as a youth in the front room my mum telling me to keep it down from the kitchen.
This is one of those World Cup Report type shows they used to have. They were just a look back over events and recent games and were in addition to the the live game programmes. Neither Itv or BBC have such shows anymore.
Luis Donado yes it is rare footage it is taken from the itv archives. so the programme has not been repeated since 1974. I have more football programmes like this in the same quality.
There's no surprise. The world is almost as we know it since 1960s. Today we have more "communications toys" without any importance (like smartphones), but the quality and the inventions are with us more than fifty years. Internet was born many years ago. And the human being level was really better than now.

Derek Dougan should have been arrested for crimes against hairdressing! Regarding Carlos Babington, he only ever played once more for Argentina after this World Cup as he transferred to West Germany for 4 years and the AFA hardly ever selected players once they had moved abroad. In fact only Fillol, Houseman and Kempes from this squad played in Argentina in 1978.
Like many Argentines, Babington's descended from an English family who emigrated. He actually comes from an illustrious line. One of whom is buried in Westminster Abbey, or somewhere similar.
It certainly didn't help Babington's ambitions as to the national team that he went to SG Wattenscheid 09, who were a second division team at that time, and - I must say - a mediocre one at that. However, he stayed for a few years and has been fondly remembered ever since.
I like how Brian Moore asks why there hasn’t been many goals scored from around the 6 yard box, then proceeds to show like 6 goals, 5 from in and around the box lol
This was the first world cup where Argentina were seen as a skilful side, as opposed to their thuggish reputation before then.. a few years later Maradona emerged, and the rest is history.
@@paulconnor9362 You're right.. most of the 70 team had gone by 74 I think only Paolo Cesar, Rivelinho and Jair featured so their plan was to play a more robust European style - problem is they went a bit too far!! Got them to the Semis though but sad to see it..
