  • Hi and welcome to part 1 of this refurbish project!
I bought this bike well over a year ago and didn't get to work on it. I bought it with the goal to get it roadworthy again, ride it for a bit and hopefully sone day make a bit of a profit on selling it again.
A friend of mine wanted to start riding and was interested in a GS 500, so we struck the dela that I'll prepare the bike for him.
My original plan was to do everything really needed, but not much more. But for a beginner bike, I just replaced every gasket, bearing and war item on the bike, so he will have the longest time possible without incidents.
Because of other life plans (and poor planning), I had exactly one and a half weeks to finish the bike - and I did!
Watch here the first part of - a couple. In the middle of editing day 3 (of 8), I was already way past the half hour mark, so I decided to split the footage into multiple parts.
In this part, the bike gets fully disassembled, as well as the frame and engine cleaned - finishing with the painted frame, swingarm and lower fork legs. This concludes the work done on the first two days.
    Thanks for watching!
Please enjoy! Leave your feedback, it is much appreciated!

Awesome video, this just inspired me to keep going on my 1991 GS500E. It’s completely torn apart and waiting for paint and gaskets……. What year is this bike?

      Thanks!
Are you documenting your progress, too?
Is yours with an actual handle bar or with the clip-on style?
The bike was a 1994 model!

@@DennisGarage strange, I’m certain that I replied two days ago. Now I’m back here to ask for a favor to be honest 😅
      I’m from Sweden 🇸🇪 :)
I’m trying to find the length of the bike, with the front wheel off as-well as the length with both the front and back wheel off.
I have to travel a bit by car and I’m thinking that I might be able to fit the frame + fork in my trunk, but it’s to far to gamble 😂
But the subframe might be the problem when it comes to the back part length.
I TOTALLY understand if you don’t feel like it though!
Will still keep watching you regardless lol

@@Fleischmann773 Heya, sorry I didn't respond. I honestly forgot about your request becasue I wasn't in the workshop for a long time. I have just now began to work on my sprinter van and as I was shoving unwanted items into the back of the shop I saw the frame of the GS i still have and thoguht about your message.
I also still have a fork but I don't know if i still have the swingarm I think I sold it. I could give you the measurement from the front axle to the very back of the frame, would that be sufficient? Or has your case solved itself due to time?

@@Fleischmann773 I guess we're playing a very slow game of ping pong here.
Unfortunately, someone bought all of the stuff I still had from that bike in the meantime. I'll get the guy I built the bike for and ask him..
