  • Here we have a video of the latest project a 500cc Suzuki. But, instead of a restoration, I am going to use this bike as a donor to show how to do those jobs on your bike which always crop up. Imagine you have just had the bike MOT'ed and it needs a wheel bearing, or the brakes are binding, or it needs a chain adjustment, etc etc etc. My aim here is to use this bike to show you how to do those common jobs. When the videos are finally finished, then I will strip it and turn it into a superb example of this fantastic 500cc machine. Let me know if there is a job you would like me to cover. If I can help, I will make a video and post it on here for you. Take care and keep riding.

    Happy riding and hope you enjoy restoring and riding your classic bike, because make no mistake, the one thing in life that is blooming brilliant is riding a beautiful bike.

    This can't be a coincidence. First you show us how to fix the f650 beamer the same bike i own. And now you got a suzuki gs500 which my mate owns. Brilliant 😁

      Blimey, that's amazing coincidence. The GS is going to be a great resto, once I get started on it. Quite a job, eh! Can't wait.

    i own and ride a 1989 gs500e in original condition minus the 30,000 miles and re-jetted carbs and opened up exhaust. I get an average of 50 miles per gallon of fun. So looking forward to your videos! Thanks!

      Yes, I agree they are superb bikes. Great fun to ride too. The final video of that series (GS500) is coming soon. It, looks, and rides, superbly.

    Can u make a video on adjusting the carbs? My GS500 is definitely running a little lean

    • @RestorationBiker
      @RestorationBiker  4 місяці тому

      Hi, I have done a couple of videos of carb rebuilds. I think I did do the carbs from this bike. The problem is, I do not have this bike anymore, so I can't do any more videos for this machine. Your bike may have a blockage in one of the jets the pilot jet is common for that. It is best to buy new ones as clearing them can be a real pain. They are dead cheap.

    Hi! Was wondering what the items are on the side of the seat placement. looks like the plug for the turners. but whats left of that? Looks like an old CDI box? U can see it 11:37 in the video

      Hi, Are you talking about the 'finned' unit? That is the voltage regulator. It is wired between the alternator and the battery.

      Hi,
      Do not know anything about the MPG yet as I haven't had a chance to ride it . Can't wait till I do as I think it will be great as a 500 cc twin. I will let you know as soon as I ride it. Take care.

    Hi, loving the video series. If you don't mind, would you share what you paid for this? I am looking at something similar condition and wondered what is reasonable. Thank you.

      Hi this bike was a bit of a 'project' I bought it early 2021 I think, and I gave £300. But like all projects the cost of the bike was the cheap part!!

      @@RestorationBiker Thank you :) the one I was buying was a similar price. I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track haha. Disappointingly the CDI is fried too. Your vids are simple, reliable and honest! Thanks :)

      Hi, I do not have this bike anymore as I sold it some time ago. BUT. I did have to change the starter relay on it when I was doing it, so I will see if I have film of me doing it and if I have I will make a film up for you.

    Was it in the sea for few years? 😂😂.

    • @RestorationBiker
      @RestorationBiker  3 роки тому

      Yeah, I know. But I wanted a bike that obviously 'needed' work, rather than one that needs nothing. At least when I restore it, the difference would be more than noticeable

      Hi Many thanks. The handlebars were new on the finished bike. The ones on the bike at the beginning were 'clip ons'
