    Buying an ADL as a donner action was what I was going to do last year to start my precision rifle but they stop selling them before I could, now I'm seriously considering this. Thanks for the great review

    for those who want to put a magpul PRS on it you will need the a1/a2 buffer tube. The RPR comes with a 6 position carbine tube

    I have the Gen 2 RPR in 6.5, 2nd day at the range shot .5 MOA on first 5 shot group at 100 yrds. Great shooter. Only issue was I had to work in the stock folding button so it would work smoothly.

    I want the .243. But I'm gonna take that 26" barrel down to 22" for suppressor use. Gonna be running a Deadair Sandman-L and I'd hate to have the likes of a flag pole hanging out the front of the rifle and trying to get that into tight spots.

    Always enjoy your videos Ryan keep up the good work. I personally would like to see some PRS match shooting.
    I'll be shooting my first PRS match at K&M in april. Can't wait. Looking to send the Tempest off in the next month.
    Just for conversation, have you seen the new DMR2s Bushnell put out at shot? I'm very excited about those. MAP is supposed to be 1449$ which will render ERSs pretty much dead. Considering the DMR2 has zero stop, low profile turrets, illumination, and a throw lever.
    Also really wanting to sell my ERS to fund a Razor AMG. What's kept me from owning the full size Razor Gen IIs was always the weight. Razor's new AMG is 29oz! So i really want to swing that thing for the 6.5x47L match rifle i'm getting built.

    As always, great review. I was waiting to see what you thought on this rifle. Now I am definitely getting it! Did you happen to break-in the rifle. Didn't know if it's needed. I know the barrel is cold hammer forged. Since you were having great results, I want to follow your procedure.Thanks!

    • @Ryansrangereport
      @Ryansrangereport  8 років тому

      I've never broken in any rifle. Never had any need to, they shot just as good out of the box as they did after 100 rounds.

    I just subbed! good video! I picked up a RPR in 308 2 weeks ago and put a Viper PST FFP 6-24x50 on top. What is the hand held tool you are using to help you adjust the scope for the long shots??

  • @Tw-fi3nq
    @Tw-fi3nq 8 років тому

    Ryan for the price point of the burris is there anything better? I'm really leaning towards that over a PST. What do you think? The big advantage for me is that it shares the 34mm tube as my Gen 2 vortex. If you had to pick the Burris or the PST which way would you go for the RPR? Also how were the ergonomics with your rings? I have been reading people recommend extra high rings greater than 1.45

    How is that Burris XTR II holding up? I am debating getting that over a Vortex PST for my new rifle. Great video, thanks!

  • @Sasr14c8
    @Sasr14c8 8 років тому

    Every body is talking about the 6.5 Creed-moor and it's excellent accuracy at long range but everything I have seen and read about the 308 makes it look bad, 1 MOA and over at a 100 yards is bad for a precision rifle, I want to purchase this rifle in 308 but I am being put off by the reviews, I am leaning towards the Sig Sauer SSG 3000 even if it only comes with 5 round mags. RPR is selling for £1399 and the SSG is selling for £1440.

      +NIGHTFOX At this time I don't think so, for the price this is a rifle you could pick up, but a decent scope on, grab some factory ammo and head straight to a rifle match. That was hard to come by before.

  • @TaskForceSixTwoSix
    @TaskForceSixTwoSix 8 років тому +1

    I still don't understand why top precision rifle shooters still prefer bolt action rifles. Since rifle manufacturers can make semi-auto rifles that have sub-MOA accuracy, you'd think that competitive shooters would be switching over to these semi-auto rifles in order to shoot faster.

    • @Ryansrangereport
      @Ryansrangereport  8 років тому +3

      +TaskForceSixTwoSix Sub MOA does not cut it anymore, and they are not as consistent. People want sub 1/2 MOA accuracy, and they want to shoot longer COALs that a semi auto can offer. Also brass gets beat up in Semi autos and is harder to reload.
      If my bolt gun is shooting over 1/2 MOA it's getting a new barrel. Everything from ergonomics, to lock time is better on a bolt gun. The only thing a semi auto offers IMO is speed. So you can miss faster.

    • @TaskForceSixTwoSix
      @TaskForceSixTwoSix 8 років тому

      +Ryan's Range Report
      Aren't the GAP-10s supposedly capable of sub 1/2 MOA accuracy? I also don't see why you couldn't make a semi-auto rifle that was chambered for 6mm or 6.5 Lapua.

    • @Ryansrangereport
      @Ryansrangereport  8 років тому

      You can, and I've seen people shoot them in 6 Creedmoor. That being said, they still beat up brass, and don't get the same velocity or SD/ES as a bolt gun. If I was in a "war zone" I'd prob prefer a semi auto, because the targets are bigger and usually closer in. For PRS style matches I want every bit of accuracy and stability I can get out of a rifle. For me at least that's why I shoot a bolt gun.

    • @TaskForceSixTwoSix
      @TaskForceSixTwoSix 8 років тому

      +Ryan's Range Report
      But if you're a sponsored professional shooter, then you don't really have to worry about reloading, right? And why would semi-auto rifles produce inferior velocity? I'm sure that you could have one made that has a 26-inch barrel. As to semi-auto guns having greater velocity spreads from shot to shot, why is that?

    • @Ryansrangereport
      @Ryansrangereport  8 років тому

      I am a sponsored shooter, and hardly anyone gets free ammo. On top of that mass produced ammo is not going to be as accurate or as consistent as what we can make in our garage. On top of that we develop these loads, and tune them as the barrel burns out.

      +Is mayonnaise a instrument I've shot deer at 416 yards with mine. 140gr Berger Hybrid. Went through both lungs and the heart. Lots of jelly! Deer hopped up and fell over about 20 seconds later. 200 yards with a 130 VLD that was smoking at 3000fps. It was a huge doe, she was DRT. And last season with my 6.5x47L 300 yards on a good sized buck, another dual lung heart shot, 50 yard sprint and dead.
