    I can’t tell you how happy I am to find a tutorial like this! I’ve seen tutorials for needle felted armature but never with stop motion in mind, so this is a godsend. I do have a couple questions tho: what was the wire twisting tool you used? And what was the point of the parts in the head and neck-is it supposed to make the head removable and/or posable? (I’m really hoping the former, as my goal is to make felted armatures with heads that can be removed so I can give them different expressions!)

    • @JoWingStudio
      @JoWingStudio  2 роки тому

      Thank you so much. I used a electric screwdriver to twist the wire and it can change the head.

    • @primejourney946
      @primejourney946 2 роки тому

      You’re very welcome! And thanks-I thought it was a screwdriver, but I wasn’t sure. And what a great way to remove the head! I was trying to figure it out on my own-I was thinking of using magnets lol, but this is a way better idea
      I do have one more question: what gauge of wire did you use?
      (I’m also going to definitely check out your skillshare class! 😃)

    This is awesome! The materials are relatively easy to find too. But, I was wondering if polymer clay would be a decent substitute for the apoxy?
    Greetings from the one and only NYC

    • @JoWingStudio
      @JoWingStudio  3 роки тому +1

      I haven’t tried it before. If the polymer clay is retained the structure strongly, I think is fine.

    • @anametuerartist2250
      @anametuerartist2250 3 роки тому +1

      Polymer would probably work, i'd say if you were gonna use normal polymer then you'd wanna bake it, but if you wasn't gonna bake it, you could probably use the harder stuff that is grey, the normal is like a tan colour. either way if you're gonna use polymer for this, you probably wanna bake it when it's on the wire armature for like 15mins? just make sure your armature metal isn't gonna melt or cause a lot of smoke when you put it in the oven and make sure to let it cool fully so you dont burn yourself on the metal. (Just saying cause i know i would forget this lol. also if you've already done this, let me know what it came out like since i might use some polymer too.

      Depends on how big you make of the foot to keep it balanced. You can add a blu tack on the bottom of the foot to keep it stable.

    I heard that wires in armatures break after several bends. Is there a way to prevent that from happening?

    • @JoWingStudio
      @JoWingStudio  2 роки тому +1

      It will break eventually. However, you can make sustainable wire by using thread, wrapping it around the twisted wire at 5:27.
