Do you want to sing mostly in English? I think audiences in English speaking countries could appreciate Asian language songs if they just had more of it promoted and available to them. Kyu Sakamoto's song "Sukiyaki" (1961) aka 上を向いて歩こう was #1 on the US music charts and is one of the best selling singles of all time. Now that foreign music is easily available on the internet, I can find music I wish I could've heard throughout the years and new music, too. In the case of a popular singer like Utada Hikaru singing in English, I think she would have had more success with those songs if she had made them in the same style as her Japanese songs, or made remakes of her songs in English. As I understand, she made her English language albums in a way that she had always wanted to as an artist. Good luck to you, Minami! 🙂
