Whilst not specific to iPhone’s, I’m glad you pointed out about getting down low. I see so many people taking shots of their kids standing up and cant understand why they do it.

One thing I love about the XS is that, while you can choose to use depth control with the various lighting controls (Natural Light, Contour Light, etc), you could instead use it with one of the colour filters. I like to use the Noir filter, with the depth set to f/1.4. Put your subject against the right background with these settings, get the camera at the right distance, and your portraits can come out looking like works of art. You can, if you want, switch HDR on or off to see if that makes a difference. And, of course, you can adjust the depth after you've taken the shot. And you don't have to use these settings just to take portraits. Any situation can work where you have a subject of some kind that is at some distance from the background.
Now, if only you could use one of the lighting controls at the same time as one of the filters! Obviously, some combinations won't work, but I'm sure Apple could code the app so that Studio Light and Contour Light would work together with the colour filters.
By the way, your presentation, pacing, video editing, and even voice control, put your videos amongst the best quality tutorials on UA-cam. Thanks for making so many of your videos available for those of us who can't afford the training.

@@sparklelistz It would take far too long for me to explain how light works in photography. But f/1.4 is what's known as the lens aperture, and it's the focal length of the lens divided by 1.4. If you Google 'lens aperture' and 'lens focal length' you can get a description of both.

great work I am from India and started watching this during the lockout time. I have a Nikon D5100 and felt it was very heavy. `I was not happy to carry it around and my friends were telling me you have a I Phone that will be good enough. But my concern was the memory will be full soon and also by evening its charge will be come down So I bought a canon SX 710 Hs which is very handy and also powerful. But now you proved that the IPHONE photo is as good as the others or even better. Myself being is doctor it is very useful for my documentation of patients. THANKS, THANKS A LOT

Bro I have iPhone 7 Plus and I also update my iOS 13.1.3 but in my iPhone camera this feature is not shown why???
I have an iPhone 10max and am upgrading to the 12 when it comes out. Most of my "portraits" are shot candidly. I catch my subject in the moment.The photos aren't taken in portrait mode because I don't have time to set it. Thus, I find myself spending my time on Snapseed. After I've edited my photo, I go to the Looks mode and see how the photo looks if I choose Portrait for it. I usually get a lovely effect. This video has great information since I don't know much about editing with the iPhone app. I basically use Snapseed. Thank you!!
