Thanks for the information. I have a question regarding a lamb ewe. She has been with a ram lamb since mid Feb and has come into season quite a few times during that time. We have seen the ram cover the ewe for two of those cycles and still I'm assuming she's not in lamb. I'd guess if she's allowing the ram to breed with her she won't be in lamb. My question is what is the very first sign that she in lamb. Lack of cycles would be my guess. We have the ram on permanent loan and are not sure if he's not doing the job or if they're too young (which I doubt LOL). They are both approx 11 months old. She's carrying a fair bit of weight (losing it now though - Dorpers are REALLY GOOD doers) ;-) Located Qld Australia (fairly arid area).
Will they put their back legs out? First time lambimg for us. First time ewe is sticking back legs out. They're all within the lambing window. She doesn't look super swollen rosy or bagged up. So I'm not sure she's quite ready.
We have one ewe that's pregnant but we are unsure how far along. She is definitely gaining size and changing shape and has a small amount of milk forming. There is no change in vulva yet and bags are not tight yet. How far in advance do you notice that change before they actually lamb?
Hey Nicky, apprentice Aussie Shepard here - totally bumbling in the dark. I have a ewe and lamb in a separate pen (massive fox problem here), the lamb is a month old and doesn't look much bigger than when it was born. The mum is very agitated, although she has warmed to me a bit, when she gets hyped up she rams the gate on the pen and I fear she will hurt herself or her lamb. It makes it hard for me to get feed in for her. How can I calm her, and should I be worried that the lamb is still smallish. The lamb does suckle and the ewe does mother it which is good. Thank you
Good morning! Do you know if the lamb 8s eating grass, hay or grain, or drinking water? At 4 weeks old, if I was concerned that the ewe isn't feeding the lamb, I would likely just pull the lamb and get it going on creep feed. This is the age I wean my bummer lambs.
My ewes are due the end of this month December. Can I start feeding 4-7pm now to get them to lamb 8-11pm or 6-8am or is it to late in the pregnancy? TIA

How'd the lambing go? We notice at least a month in advance that the ewe is bigger. Also her tootie will start to pucker and her bag will swell.

Thanks for the question! Now is the perfect time to get them into the routine of evening feeding for daytime lambing.

Yows? Not ewes?
The content of the video has nothing to do with the title you just give general information that are obvious to everybody nothing technical
