@@birdylove24No, it's Cause these Judges they don't care if the singer actually has a good voice, they only pick singers they know will be marketable. Pop, RnB and blues is More marketable than classical.
The second gentleman should stick to R&B because he's got no clue how to sing opera, at least not how it should be performed in an opera house. He doesn't understand what he's singing (the text and the expression don't match), his Italian is dreadful (he's got a strong English accent and taking breath between two syllables of a word, like in VIN - CERÒ!, is a no go), he inserts all style of mannerisms that have no place in opera (and I don't speak only about the R&B run, but about many other things), he doesn't know that you don't sing Calàf with a lyrical voice like his (and a tone lower than originally written) and, most importantly, he's got no idea about breath support. This means that without the microphone his voice would be drowned by the orchestra. He already is barely audible on the lower notes (granted, not the strongest register of a lyrical voice).
He's NOT an opera singer. He's got no clue about opera in general and about the piece he chose to perform in particular. The mere fact that people choose to performe opera pieces does not mean that they are able to do them justice. He doesn't understand what he's singing (the text and the expression don't match), his Italian is dreadful (he's got a strong English accent and taking breath between two syllables of a word, like in VIN - CERÒ!, is a no go), he inserts all style of mannerisms that have no place in opera (and I don't speak only about the R&B run, but about many other things), he doesn't know that you don't sing Calàf with a lyrical voice like his (and a tone lower than originally written) and, most importantly, he's got no idea about breath support. the problem with singers who use Bel Canto technique is that it is hard to unlearn it and sing pop. The number one rule of bel Canto singing is no action in the throat which goes entirely against pop singers. Yes, classical singers are incredibly skilled and at the height of vocal technique, but it can be hard for these people to sing pop without sounding classical because to them, pop singers sing incorrectly. This is why opera singers have a hard time singing pop because pop singers use muscles in the throat to create vocal colors which go against the rules of bel canto. I'm assuming this is why they would be hard to work with and the judges don't really know what to do with.
