    Thanks for watching. This generator was the cheapest one I could find at stores. Its not new but it doesn't have a lot of time on it. The problem is that it starts but i won't stay running when off choke.

    Thanks. I have this same problem. I'll be pulling my carb tomorrow. I have this one and a 5500W. I use the 5500W with my Hobart 140 MIG welder, so I'm running that one quite a bit. Once fixed, I'll run this one once a month(as I was before) using a vacuum when I clean my cars. Thanks for posting the video.

    Just a quick tip. I've had other carb problems so what I did with the carb studs is I threaded on a nut and cut a screwdriver slot wit my Dremel cutoff wheel. Removing the nut cleans up the threads. Now I can remove the studs with just screwdriver.

    Can't believe how small the air filter was. (if I owned it) After the warranty I would have modded it to a bigger one, you could see dirt coating the inside of the carb. Also would add an aftermarket inline fuel filter. Would recommend it to the customer cause I know people leave covers off of gas jugs all the time and dirt and dust blow in them. (I'm betting that was how the jet got clogged).
    Thank you for another fine fun Video to watch

      @@martinwagnerproductions I was thinking about this. I see filters inside the chainsaw fuel tanks and I think if you just get a fine mesh inline filter. then there is no reason the 50to1 should ever clog it up and it would help keep any big debris out of the carburetor.

      I cleaned the jet tonight and sadly not much luck.
      How does the Governor work? I notice it opens/closes a plate on the backside of the carb.
      Seems like it closes/opens just as it is dying. And I don’t quite understand how the spring tension causes this to happen based on some change in the carb.

    • @hanshyde9108

      Oh, just wanted to add this…. Mine is a bit different. The carb mounts with 2 bolts, not studs, that hold the front face on also. Easier to take carb off, but more a pain to align it all putting back together.
      There is also an anchor screwed to the top of the face and bolted to the AC motor/generator to some some part and the ground. The tank has to be taken off to remove the screw or bolt.
      Great demo on how to get the studs out btw!

      in a non running condition, the plate Is open and the governor is also keeping it open, that is until the engine starts and the governor inside the engine starts to spin. It will then start to move the governor arm and linkage to close the plate to maintain a certain RPM.

    The gen side crank seal popped out on one of mine, it's a 20x30x7 oil seal. That makes for a huge crankcase air-leak, so it wouldn't start (of course) This was an earlier model, I don't think it was the correct material for gasoline/oil. I haven't had any problem (yet) with the crank seal under the flywheel but I think it's the same size.
    When adjusting the engine governor speed, I use a frequency meter shooting for 60Hz at about half load, using a 500Watt incandescent shop lamp.

      @@HomeGaragechannel i used to disparge these generators on the internet....untill in sept 2017 Hurricane Irma blacked my area i was without power for 8 days. for the 1st couple of days i hooked up a 400 watt inverter to a car battery and used that. then i started running one of my cars all night long with the inverter on it. then someone loaned me one of these little buzzy turds and it ran my fans and charged my tool batteries without issue. it ran great. after the crisis was over i promptly went out and bought one.
      here is the thing. these things are nearly the perfect generator. they are light in weight (under 50 lbs) can be stored anywhere. powerful enough to run a 5k window ac. super simple to repair. basically the only things that break are the carb, the reocil starter, and the capacitor that serves as the voltage regulator. if it doesn't run its the carb, if it doesn't produce power its the cap. there is no oil to change. there are no valves to adjust. if you buy one, get a gallon or more of 2 stroke oil for those long power outages. they consume a 5 gallon can of gas every 24 hours. so if you are planning for a week, get 7 cans.
      oh and these while two strokes, they only run at 3600 rpm. about 1/4 the rpm of chain saw and 1/2 or less than that of a weedeater or blower. they don't need high performance expensive synthetic 2 stroke oil. the cheap stuff works just fine in these.

      Try pulling the muffler off an look up the exhaust hole up by the piston you may have carbon buildup in there if so make sure the piston is all the way down so it out of the way an take a screwdriver an clean out the hole then pull the starter a few times then put it back together an see how it runs

    Dude wtf I bought one of these for $10 and it wouldn't run for anything. So I Cleaned carb more thoroughly than shown here, replaced piston and rings (dirty and full of carbon) and have spark when the plug is grounded out of the cylinder. Makes 89psi cold. It won't fire a single time no matter what. Not even a squirt of gas in the carb or cylinder will make it start. Any help is very appreciated.
    It will produce spark regardless of what position the on/off switch is in which I found interesting.

    • @HomeGaragechannel
      @HomeGaragechannel  Рік тому +1

      even though it's make 89 PSI, it would be better if it was higher. I have to wonder if the the engine is flooded. I would take the spark plug out and pull it over several time, and leave it for a few days, that way.

    • @kkc3009
      @kkc3009 Рік тому

      @@HomeGaragechannel okay thank you. Cold psi usually doubles when warmed up as I've seen 68psi cold turn to 152psi when ran for a minute or two with snowblowers for example. I understand it's not a 4 cycle engine but probably goes by the same principle. It had the same psi before the piston swap too actually lol. Perhaps it is flooded or my mixture is too oily but it has never even tried to fire. I have older saws that want oil so that's what everything gets. About 32:1 give or take. Some people have reported (although rare) that it wouldn't fire without a new or better spark plug. And even said it would show spark well outside the cylinder but then would never fire inside the cylinder. It has a torch ft7c or whatever and I believe it's actually supposed to have a bp5es. Don't know if those interchange. This is a powercraft gg900 but they're all the same more or less.

      that's strange
      I'll have to check again, but
      every time I've done cold an hot
      compression tests, they've been consistent
      and there's hardly a difference
