#FosterThePeople #ComingofAge #Supermodel
(C) 2014 Columbia Records, a Division of Sony Music Entertainment
When I was 16 I was obsessed with Foster The People and I had the album Supermodel. I would put it everytime in the car with my godfather (who raised me with my mom, he was like a dad to me). He always asked me “put the third song, I like that one, is my favorite”. Coming of Age was the song. He passed away 6 days ago and listening to this song takes me back to these beautiful moments ❤️
He sure was a great man and father💜
My condolensces

THIS is the type of music that should be on the radio. It has meaning, it's genuine, it's groovy. It appeals to so many people and it's the type of nostalgic music that you'll listen to years from now and remember all the good times you had while listening to it. Love this band more than words can say.
Katie Dunlap where are you from? because where I'm from they do play it on the radio .
LIL B`s EVIL TWIN Nashville! It's all mainstream or indie bands from Nashville on the radio.
Katie Dunlap I agree
Unfortunately it doesn't meet the pop industry's standard of having enough dopamine-releasing bits and irregular jumps in rhythm to satisfy the population's ever-decreasing attention span. You might just change the channel if it was playing on the radio, which cannot be allowed to happen.
Music is a business these days.
Katie Dunlap Oh,ok.I'm from California.
this isn’t a song, it’s an experience. i’ll always come back to it on days i’m feeling down or unmotivated, it always does the trick to get me back in gear
Well put
Well said!
Same here brother!

Got one here!
I am. I was in Jan. 2014 when it was released.

You're alive. Go live!
But we all want to go to.
Mark Foster, please never stop making music
These kids are way out of my generation; being 61 years old, but I heard this song playing on one of the radio stations in a CVS drug store, looked it up, and yeah, this is a kicking great, well written and arranged song by a generation that i don't normally have any interest in. Almost a Beach Boys feel at times!....weeeeuuuuuuuu!
electrictom foster the people actually got to perform with The Beach Boys at the Grammys a few years back!
Not coincidentally they are heavily influenced by The Beach Boys. You my friend have exceptional taste in music. 😎
electrictom Mark Foster, the band frontman, actually said that his biggest inspirations have been the Beach Boys

Video and song are highly underrated
The band is underrated. I'm into metal and metalcore and this is one of the few bands that I could say I love listening to.
+Jesse Simmons Same dude
Seriously underrated
as am i but i try to stretch out my music taste
I know. Both are great. Video is sooooo relevant, to most folks' live's growing up. And great music along with it. What a combo!
I'm absolutely smitten with this song, my God!
Great throwback sound. Never gets old. A bit like the Church 20 or so yrs ago.

Not even a smidgin of dissapoint.
My 6 year old daughter had my phone and put this song on as I'd listened to it on youtube. I now have to play it every night before going to bed cos she loves it so much! She said to me "I don't know why I love it so much, I just do!" Great taste in music my 6 year old!
I was just gonna say you're daughter has great taste in music until I read the last sentence.
Mmhmm

Love how this song takes me thru all the seasons in my life that caused me to grow. Like a coming of age each time. This one will always resonate deeply.
Same here. My favorite for life.
my friend says he hates this song because it's too mainstream
hell yeah it's mainstream do you know why? because its a fucking good song
Dummy
This isn't mainstream ._. Foster the People is so underrated
Roman Gallo I asked every person in each of my classes if they know what FTP is and 98% only knew them by "Pumped Up Kicks" only 2 people knew their whole torches album but even then they never listened to Supermodel. I agree FTP is highly under rated.
And honestly pump up kicks is not even that great of a song, i mean its good. But not OMGOMGOFMGOFMG
Roman Gallo YES! Exactly and I feel like everyone obsessing over it made it worse. That song used to be great until it became mainstream...
Love the old feel to this.
I’m 38 now. Every year of your life you change and shed your old self like the skin of an onion. The person you were on those summers so long ago is long discarded. But then I listen to this song, look up and say, “There you are.”
I feel exactly the same. :)
Hi Chad
Well said
As a teen, my father was in his 50's and he would tell me that he still thought as he had in his teens, though his body wasn't at that point. Now at 57, I can really understand what he meant.

Same, I'm 30✨
20s are the best!
My favorite song from theirs. Foster the People is one of the few bands of the last decade that I actually like and appreciate.
KirbyCrossing You must not know a lot of bands then.
ZazarStudios From 2005 and onwards, no.
KirbyCrossing I'll recommend some decent-great bands, in my opinion, then. The Temper Trap, White Lies, The Killers, Modest Mouse, Franz Ferdinand, Muse, Gorillaz, Phoenix, Cut Copy, The Rubens, Future Islands, The War on Drugs, and Arcade Fire.... I guess... Though personally I hate Arcade Fire and think they are the most overrated band of the past decade, BUT they are good none the less, and you might dig them. Not to mention there's been a TON of artists outside of bands or rock genres, and I will recommend them too. M83, Daft Punk, Sleep Party People, Caribou, Death Grips, Big Black Delta, Youth Lagoon, Danger, and Dan Deacon. There's way more, but those are the ones I can think off of the top of my head. Check those artists out, and you will see that music hasn't lost anything. Rock music. It's still going strong, and always will be. Sometimes you need to just search more, but even several of the artists I have mentioned have had mainstream success.
ZazarStudios Nearly half of those are late 90's - early 2000's though. I don't really like post 2000's rock music anyway.
KirbyCrossing Actually, most of those are 2004 and up, with a few exceptions, but I guess I am mainly referring to the ones who have released music fairly recently that was good. And what do you mean by post 2000s rock? Like as in 2010 and past?
Masterpiece
I always thought the intended feel of this song was something like tragic optimism. It's recognizing that, unlike the things you're told as a kid, unlike what you see in the movies, adulthood arrives amidst grief over the loss of your innocence and how you thought the world was vs how it actually is. But once you arrive there, there's hope because you now have enough experience to know that you can take what they throw at you, and you can keep trucking along in the hard times.
FOSTER THE PEOPLE IS THE BEST BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cant agree more, I love every single song :D
Yepppppppp
Definitely
And mgmt
Yesss❤️
This song is seriously one of my favorite pieces of music to come out this decade, the style of it feels like it could fit right in the 80's yet feels modern enough for the radio. I really hope more music like this starts making a comeback in today's music scene.
Yea bro!
i think that this song is similar to Everybody whants to roule the world of tears of fears
Yes, this was definitely one of the 1000 best and greatest songs of the 10s!! :)
Woe, dawg, this song like aged wine, is served up for now, 2021, just like all their music, way ahead of time, and brilliant! Keep them coming Foster The People!💕🥵

Do you wanna be my girlfriend?

Same with me at 15
[Verse 1]
Well, I see you standing there like a rabid dog
And you got those crying eyes
Makes me wanna surrender and wrap you in my arms
You know I try to live without regrets
I'm always moving forward and not looking back
But I tend to leave a trail of dead while I'm moving ahead
[Pre-Chorus 1]
And so I'm steppin' away
'Cause I got nothin' to say
[Chorus 1]
Feels like, feels like it's comin'
It feels like, feels like a coming of age (It's like a coming of age)
Feels like, feels like it's comin'
Feels like, feels like a coming of age
[Verse 2]
And when my fear pulls me out to sea
And the stars are hidden by my pride and my enemies
I seem to hurt the people that care the most
Just like an animal, I protect my pride
When I'm too bruised to fight
And even when I'm wrong, I tend to think I'm right
[Pre-Chorus 2]
Well, I'm bored of the game
And too tired to rage
[Chorus 2]
Feels like, feels like it's comin'
It feels like, feels like a coming of age (It's like a coming of age)
It feels like, feels like it's comin'
It feels like, feels like a coming of age (And I'm burning the page)
[Chorus 1]
Feels like, feels like it's comin'
It feels like, feels like a coming of age (It's like a coming of age)
It feels like, feels like it's comin'
It feels like, feels like a coming of age
[Instrumental]
[Chorus 3]
It feels like, feels like a coming of age (Yeah, it's like a coming of age)
Feels like, feels like it's comin'
It feels like, feels like a coming of age (Like a coming of age)
Feels like, feels like it's comin'
It feels like, feels like a coming of age (It's like a coming of age)
Feels like, feels like it's comin'
It feels like, feels like a coming of age...

I listened to this before my high school graduation, I loved this song so much. Now, three years later, I am listening to it just before turning in my final paper. Going to graduate college on Saturday with my Bachelor's in Psychology, hopefully with Honors :) I still love this song just as much, if not more, than I did three years ago.

I don't know why Pumped Up Kicks has more attention than this to be honest.. This is a fantastic song!
This and "Sit Next to Me" are a vibe.
Да поддерживаю, и я бы ещё добавил broken jaw и pumped
How did this album receive poor to mediocre reviews? I think it's quite fantastic. However, when you read the reviews like the one from rolling stone, you realize how idiotic the reviewer is when he compares every song on this album to pumped up kicks. Moron. Remember when reviewers weren't lazy pieces of shit? Those were the days.
Great album!
How is this like Pumped up kicks damn people are stupid xD, if you ask me I like this song more than that one, it's really an instant classic to me.
One of those songs you can get lost in.
It got some good reviews too
flamezero888V2 Basically, when the reviewer compared the new album to pumped up kicks, it showed the reviewer knew nothing about Foster the People. Most real fans of this band will probably tell you pumped up kicks is their least favourite song from torches. Not because it's a bad song but because it's been so overplayed.
If the Reviewer had of bothered to listen to the rest of torches and threw out some different comparisons other than pumped up kicks, I might have taken him seriously.
Sheppy99
sure it is my least fav
Why even bother reading critics about songs. You listen to them, you like them or you don't,it is as simple as that.
back to the 80´s music..!! great style guys
2014 = nostalgia
cuantos latinos escuchando este temazo?
I wish they would still make music like this
this song is so underrated..
Best one I've heard in years. Easily.
How the hell is this underrated
Very easily
Mark Foster: “We wanted to kind of capture the staple American past times, like classic Steve McQueen. The staple moments in the 70s and 80s that we thought kind of captured what America was in cinema. Those moments made us feel nostalgic about life.”
I wasn't sure about this video the first time I saw it but has REALLY grown on me.
I feel bad for the people that got stucked in 2011 and only know them for Pumped Up Kicks. They have such good music.
This song is dedicated to you stranger. The loves you had, the ones you lost and the times you didn't think you could make it but you did.
The second verse hits me like a friggin train, especially "I'm bored of the game and too tired to rage." Killer lyrics!
This is probably my favorite song right now. Whoever thought music was on a downward spiral obviously havent heard this song.
My dad would play this album when I was around 7. I turn 17 next month. Feels like a coming of age.
I was literally 14 when this came out school days but now i am 23 college life over.
So, you're just beginning to...come of age 😁
From the song production to the video, captures the 80's MTV.
Tim Glover Which is what makes it so amazing...you are on point sir.
Yep, back when popular music actually existed.
#4 on Billboard's alternative singles chart this week. Impressive!
Yes, Alternative Songs :) and going up!!
Marcela Burgess and the #1 album at iTunes. Had a feeling the new album would do well.
Steve Kroll Does #1 on iTunes mean much nowadays? Probably because it's the only decent release out this week. Not to detract from the album: what I've heard is really good.
mattbellamymate Right, who can beat the big names like Gaga, Katy, Justin, the super commercial will always win. Good timing for them! Listen to the record, I think is better than Torches, but that's just my taste, I was not expecting it to be THIS good!!
Marcela Burgess It seems to be getting proper promotion from the label, which is great because a lot of great albums flop because no one knows they're out. They are also in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this evening as well, in case you didn't know.
This band is really good. I grew up with the Beatles, Allman Brothers, The Clash, Little Feat, U2 and this band touched me. Rock on!
Who listen in 2024 in the 2nd quarter
🙋♀️
80's + Foster the People = Decent Song
Amazing*
does everyone get like a shiver when the guitar sounds before the chorus like ascending or something
Damn it I hear this song 24/7
oh yes... the sounds in this song are just sublime.
I didn't before, but now I hear it every time lol
Cari Morris I'm pretty sure when the guitar kicks in they say "doo doo doo doo"
What happens at 2:59 strikes me emotionally.. like we all need some company when one’s heart is crying
41 years old and discovered this band about 5 years ago. They’re incredible. Get me into my feelings.
I'm 41 too!
Its true. All the lyrics are what everyone goes through. You hurt the ones closest to you,the ones that care for you the most. Until you realize what you've done and feel bad for the rest of your life about it.
The very first seconds of the song are enough to take me to a different universe.
Man, aren't they ever!
Honestly, I feel that way for all their songs. It's so amazing, it is indeed like a new universe. I almost fell asleep listening to Foster's music-
Music has that Magical element
If you're still listening to this after 6 years dude ur a legend
Eu amoooo essa música ♥️♥️
Salve pra todos os BR aqui 🇧🇷🇧🇷
I don't understand how Pumped Up Kicks is the only song that made it to Top 40 (to my understanding). Every single song these guys put out is a major hit!
For alternative/indie bands you have to look at the Alternative chart, where they have had four top ten hits. "Best Friend" is #15 this week and rising and will likely be their fifth.
They did it again, amazing tune, can't wait for the album
I guess I'm not the only one in the little bit older crowd loving this tune. I"m 52. Love this tune. So clean.
His voice at the end gives me chills.
this should have been bigger than Pumped Up Kicks
Absolutely! I love this song so much and it's my favorite from Foster the People and one of my favorites of 2014.
I think it will be, it just needs time.
it's not as catchy.
all about the melody in the chorus.
Pumped up kicks will always be their best song
I dont mean it that way. I mean, Stairway to Heaven is zeppelin's most popular song and their best song. But, yeah. might just be an opinion.
I saw these dudes on the street performing outside of universal city about a year or two before pumped up kicks came out on the radio. Even back then I knew they were going to catch on. It was a trip that a band that good would be playing on the street.
"Just like an animal, I protect my pride
When I'm too bruised to fight
And even when I'm wrong, I tend to think I'm right"
I feel this to the core, wishing my aldolescence has got something wonderful to reminisce about, but I'm here left in self-doubt, regrets, and agony.
This band just special for me.... always coming back for them ❤
I think I spend the whole year listening to this song. Because this is how you define true "contemporary music".
3 years i waited

Why weren't they more popular?? OMG this is so good and it showcases their Amazing talent...this song is heads and tails above the competition...simply GENIUS!!
Literally torches and supermodel are the only albums where I'm in love with every single song. When I listen to the it's like I get a break from reality. When people ask who my fav band is I always say FTP and they say they hate them. But really, the only song they know is pumped up kicks. This annoys me so much. Every song of theirs is so different from the others! I can't see how anybody could hate them honestly. Like, stop listening to that nicki minaj justin bieber crap. This is real music right here
Shannon Farnsworth FTP is a thinking person's band and Mark Foster is a musical genius. Anyone who hates them, like you said, hasn't looked into their full body of work. Which I know is only two albums but there is so much greatness already.
Hollywoodsteve I agree
now u sir , get the idea ppeople only know pumped up kicks and dont stop basically those are great songs in their right but like u said all of thier songs are different and actually have a message not same bullshit rappers nowadays talkabout (money, sex, and rims) it pisses me off insanely
Shannon Farnsworth Really? There are people that hate FTP? Huh. FTP isn't my favourite band - that distinction goes to OMAM - but they are a close second, and I'm quite surprised that there's a crowd of people that hate this band that large.
FINALY!! Someone else knows what's up
This is such a perfect song. When I first heard it on the radio, I almost made my mom crash on how happy I was hearing them.
GONNA SEE THEM IN MAY! 2014 is great.
poor mom having a kid like you,
I remember when MTV used to play this song, was so in love with it, nostalgic.....miss this type of music
Why do you miss it? There's still music like this type that's being made as I'm typing this.
