Yep, I'm a few years older and was just thinking what your dad and others think. I am always intrigued by bands' styles and influence. When I saw live versions of these guys I was like 'whoa, I've not seen that much electronica for over 30 years. Drum machine, beats, multiple keyboards and upbeat tunes (even if darker lyrics) make this group have a somewhat classic and extraordinary beat. Very cool. 10 years later but still consider this worthy modern music.
What I love about Foster The People is that they're not trying to be just another alternative band, they have their own sound and Mark is such a talented singer/songwriter. This band is way too underrated!
underrated ? nigga they were one of the most popular alternative / pop bands a few years ago. where have you been? I'm not saying they're not good, I love them, but I can name a handful of bands that have this same sound
No, they are underated. If you listen to each song, they put a ton of work into each one. This is a talented group, but unfortunately, they only have one hit song, and it's rarely played on the radio do to it's implications. This is a talented group, and they don't receive much recognition for their work (besides pumped up kicks). That is the definition of underated.
This song and video will always be special to me. One of their best songs and features a blue heeler, a dog breed I’ve owned my entire life. Good question. I have heard this song a few times over the years and immediately loved it. I never knew what it was called or who it was by until today. I am a guy brought up on 70's and 80's rock, but I really like these guys. I lost my mother a month ago and to me it represents keeping going when things are at their worst. It encapsulates her sudden bad turn, her struggle and unexpected death, getting the late night phone call, telling and comforting my kids, the wake, the funeral and all the other arrangements. This encapsulates being completely lost. It was like "sipping poison and having to hold on tight".
Actually, it's kind of an anti-drugs song (so I've heard) - a critique of bored, idle rich kids - kids of Hollywood celebs, can't ever be as great as Mom & Dad are, so give up, get through the day, get so high, can't even sit in a chair without falling out of it. But hey, hey, it's OK. (I don't know if it's pathetic, or what. Can you deal w/ it? Mom&Dad are high-voltage live-wires w/ tons o' natural talent, and what am I? Chopped beef? A normie raised w/ best-of-the-best world-class everything everywhere? What does that make me? A zero? (Someone called Billy Corgan a zero and he wrote a song about it. Check it.) It puts you down before you know it

I've been in places and I won't pretend
That I make it I just fall on my head
When it's strange to take a walk downstairs

'Cause you're coming down hard your joints are off stud
I tried to say that's not the only way

You were pacing, I was insecure
Slip and fall I got the calls of the prison I was living in

This song still slaps hard.
This song really slaps hard even ten years later. It almost reminds me of my painful early days in high school. I’m surprised how much time has passed since then.
It's 2024 and I still jam this song all the time.
Same here

I'm 49 year's old and I'm jamming like I'm 15 watching mad Max the thunderdome
@@michaelacousino2410 hell yeah!!
This is hands down my favorite FtP song and the best music video I've ever seen.
+PhoenixPoptart What about Take On Me's music video?
6 years later and I still stand by this.
THIS ALBUM IS A MASTERPIECE
I still wonder why this song didn't reach billion views. Such a great addictive song❤❤️❤️
Just re-opened Foster the People, nostalgia hits so hard
Honestly, despite how depressing this song is, it's my favorite song ever!!!
Torches was/is supremely underrated
Underrated song, pumped up kicks gets all the love but this is one of those songs that still sounds amazing 11 years later.
I don’t think ANYONE understands how long I’ve been looking for this song!!!! Haven’t heard it in years holy shittttt
Oh my God!! I know how it feels! I just found the name of it today, in 2021. I’m about to go to work, and I’m FLOATING!!!
This will always be my favorite song by Foster The People.
I used to HATE this song, don't know why, I absolutely LOVE it now! Brilliant video too.
same lol
I loved it since I first heard it. I had no idea who Foster The People were when it came out, and I had to search the internet desperately with lyrics I remembered from it to find out what it was. Still is one of my favorite songs, and a great video too.
c00l
God I love this song it’s very personal to me, loved this song when I was young and still had a stable family and a home my old pets years were I only had to worry about my schoolwork and cartoons but even as I grow up I can look back and reflect on my past and the people who made it great this song will always be here and forever remembered.
beatiful voices...i love foster the people...please come of brasil...
Finally i find a song that deserves every single view of the 18 mil it got.
3:59 onwards is something with endless vibes
this production is insane! Great music
If this becomes the world, hit me up to join my guild.
Requirements: none
Skills: basic combat
You need to have requirements bro. Otherwise you'll get stuck with a bunch of useless moochers who can't even shoot lol
Put me on the list also I wanna say you should have the requirement of mediocre survival skills
This should be the requirments to join a guild
Requerments:toughness,emotionally tough,skilled hanf to hand combat,skilled gunsmanship
healthy body,strenght,skilled survivalist.
you can still join but you wont be that usefull
....you can't say you have no requirements and require basic combat.
Kk
Literally never get sick of this song
EVER EVER
But the most important question: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DOG?!
No animals were harmed in the making of this film

It was delicious!
Yep!
This song was way ahead of its time.
Torches was an album that really got me through a lot when I was entering college. I can't really explain it, but the sound and lyrics were just perfect for its time
everything is so disturbed that i don't really want it out of my mind...
love it ;)
it was 2011. my fist day of 7th grade . I remember i just had got the fallout 3 collector's edition from my mom. That morning i woke up to helena beat on mtv and got dressed with my window open and the only visible thing was clouds. Thinking if this is the start i can't imagine what's next. 11 years later im 22 and i still have that as one of my best memories....
"You know those days when you wanna just choose to not get out of bed, get lost in your head again?"
When you find out your favorite song for a few years was released on your birthday 💕
I just want to thank my brothers for playing this song and making me grow up with these types of songs 🥴🤍
This is better than pumped up kicks for me. The Chorus is so catchy. Makes u wanna dance
I like this song even more than Pumped Up Kicks and that was a great tune.
This pumped up kicks and Houdini

Me too
I remember watching this music video on MTV as a kid I spent 10 years trying to remember it and find it. I finally found it today. It felt like a bad itch I couldn’t scratch for 10 years feels good to get rid of it.
47 years old. heard pumped up kicks when it came out and it was addictive. the next one i loved was sit next to me. That one i listened to non stop on repeat for Days. i just heard this one last week. i dont like it as much as the other two but i CANT get it out of my head. every quiet moment and suddenly my brain has it going non stop. such a wicked earworm and a great video too. i guess my brain likes this song more than i realize.
Is anyone here with me 2.2.2022 to hear this underrated masterpiece🤩♥️???i love this song 🎵 for so many years now.Great song&awesome video!!
I cried listening to this I want my childhood back :(
I worship this album! (And their others). They kinda remind me of a modern day Scritti Politti, with these fantastic, catchy melodies and Mark Foster’s high-pitched, angelic vocals. Just tremendously impressive.
Miss these days. I used to live in Miracle Mile, LA.
I swear FTP has the best intros for their songs
Foster the people was so popular back in the days when I was in high school. And for that reason i will forever be reminded of my high school as a teenager every time i hear this album.
Lucky, all i had was GuCci gaNg, TiK ToK aNd PuMp UuuPp KiKs, just because they were trendy and memeable.
