One I hated was family group for multiple days. I was single and would go comping on fishing trips. Overnight fishing trips I would have to pack up find another place to park then set up again after the trip.
I wondered when this video started if you might be in New York. What do I win, LOL. I noticed when I arrived in New York for the first time, that state has a sign for everything, "Don't walk on grass, Don't leave your engine running, Don't use plastic bags, Don't breathe after midnight..." We spent a month at a campground near Rochester, that about financially broke me. And they had so many rules. Not to mention the 8 minute shower timers, I HATED THAT.
Saw at one that after quiet time you weren't allowed to talk outside and could only whisper while inside. They had a bunch of stipid rules. This is the only one i could remember.
After our first year with our camper, one thing I don't like or understand is the site lock fee. If you pick a site & pay in advance, making you pay extra to secure it is stupid & wrong, & should be illegal.
I evaluate the spot I want and depending on if I'm staying 4 or more days will decide if I'm willing to be moved at will or pay a bit extra for the lock fee. I have paid before for what I would call a premium site when staying long periods to guarantee that spot. The majority of the time I'm fine with being moved if they need a spot for a longer reservation. I have heard from a campground owner that they do not like the lock fee but the campground reservation app makes them have one. It is a lot easier for the campground to book more efficiently if nobody locks.
#1 is crazy. I camp in a 06 winnebago that has 22k miles on it. Its like brand new still and meticulously maintained. This rule has irritated me before
Enjoyed your video except for leash rule. Gotta have a length rule for leashes. Once walking around a campground someone had a larger unhappy dog on about a 30ft lead tied to his hitch. Well he was on other side of truck and started running at me. By the time he got to this side of his limit he'd run 60ft. Plenty of speed built up to break the lead and keep coming at me. Now imagine it was a little kid or someone traumatized by dogs and not someone willing to stand his ground he was running at. Not saying it's gotta be 6ft but there's gotta be a limit.
I agree with the limit for sure, heck even on walks when a dog might encounter another 6ft is good. I meant more while it’s on your site let’s give them a little slack. Thanks for watching!
@TonyYarusso true but like I said, dog was on 30ft least which kept him in his site until he broke it due to running full speed by the time he got to the end. Otherwise yeah I'd like that rule.
I was in a self service camp ground in Missouri. The rules no one told you are. NO! Dog kennels. Chains or leashes can be left out side for any reason. You must be with your pet if outside at all times. The police came at 5am Sunday morning and kicked the group out I was with because of a kennel was out side.
You pull into a camp ground and the lady behind the desk says I need you social security # to do a background check on you before I allow you to your campsite. I did a double take on that rule!
I have never heard of such a thing. Where was this at? I suppose if someone is dumb enough to give them that number you will get what you get. Forrest Gump said it pretty good, "Stupid is as stupid does"
@@grahamcross5652 That's absolutely terrible.... I won't be complying with any of that anytime soon. I'd rather have to overnight in a truck stop before doing anything like that.
That is what I think about the No Pets allowed on the Beach in Tybee Island, GA. This is all due to dog owners allowing their dog to use the beach and not cleaning up after (IT).
Yes there are some RV park rules that have one scratching their head. I would argue that behind every rule comes a history of many people not acting responsibly. With regards to the 10-year rule, many if not most will allow older RV’s if a visual inspection or photo submission reveals an RV in acceptable shape. Also, I suspect the motivation behind the 10-year rule is not only to insure a decent appearance to their park, but also it is easier, less problematic and avoids hurt feelings to deny entry to someone whose RV is in poor shape. Imagine the fireworks if an RV park were to say we cannot allow you to stay because your RV looks like junk, much easier all around to say we have a 10-year rule. Finally, their park their rules, one can choose to go elsewhere or stay and abide by the rules.
It makes you wonder, how are all the age restrictions usually roughly 10 years. 10 years for an RV is way too short; it should be something like 25 years at least.
I’m not sure I would stay somewhere that charged my guests to use the restroom. I’ve heard of pay showers but this sounds like how a truck stop would be
Check in time after 3 pm, ok with that,, but Check OUT TIME 11 AM,,, so after breakfast not much time to enjoy,,,the other camp ground is check time is 2. Thats not as bad as 11
Near the end of a four month trip from FL to AK. While traveling from Homer to Denali, we stopped for a few nights at a nice, quiet, and small camp ground. The owner was rebuilding after a devastating fire in 2019 so we thought we would stay and support him in a sense by paying a very reasonable daily rate. There were only four rigs in the campground, two of which left the next day. The other was home to a young lady and her hubby who was a seasonal worker. We never saw him, but one day we saw her walking her Pit Bull. An hour later we saw her walking another then another. Turns out in her 22ft TT she had SIX Pit Bulls. Ok, to each their own but about 1000 our second day we heard what sounded like dogs fighting and someone weakly yelling help. I ran over to discover the two largest Pit Bulls fighting, the young lady holding the largest by the collar. She was bloody from bites on her legs and hands. The other four Pit Bulls were off leash and to a lesser degree fighting amongst themselves. I did the stupidest thing, well one of the stupidest things, I ran forward and grabbed the second largest by the collar and pulled him back. I was a stranger, the other four stopped immediately and turned towards me. I seriously thought I had just made my wife a widow, but I just kept calm, talked gently to them and rubbed the side of the one I held and everyone sort of calmed down. She got the largest inside the TT, took the one I had and put him in her vehicle, then put the other four into kennels inside the TT. Once that was done, we offered her first aid but she refused, saying she was going downtown to the walk in clinic. I told her they would ask what happened and this could lead to a visit by local authorities. That part didn’t phase her but my point is this, I don’t care how many dogs you have as long as you can control them and they are not a nuance to others. I could think of no reason why this young lady had six Pit Bulls, how the Park management allowed it - I’ve been asked what breed my dog is at several Parks when I make reservations, and had to wonder if we hadn’t been there what would have happened.
6 ft leash for dogs is the politically correct length. You never see longer or shorter allowances, no matter the circumstance, physical environment or size of dog. So we are stuck with that for the foreseeable future.
I haven't experienced any of these rules at the places we've stayed. My question is Why did the campgrounds have to make these rules in the first place. They probably allowed all dog breeds until a guest got attacked by a pit bull or rottweiler. Same for the leash rule. I don't think they want to make money on those who can't leave on time. They want the site empty to allow for the next campers. Rules as made as a result of ignorant campers. I've been camping or decades and never really had the rules spoil my enjoyment. Maybe they enhanced it. Before making a reservation, you should check the rules. If your offended or they don't fit your situation, find another campground. I've camped at state parks where we didn't see a ranger or camp host the entire time we stayed.
Every park I've been to with the 10-year rule will let you camp with a 10+ RV if it's in good shape. I'd bet the bread rule for pets is an insurance requirement. Bulletin, we wouldn't need all the rules if the average person was such an inconsiderate jerk.

It would make sense to just said “contained within the site” (can’t reach the road), and a six-foot leash when out of your own site.
@TonyYarusso true but like I said, dog was on 30ft least which kept him in his site until he broke it due to running full speed by the time he got to the end. Otherwise yeah I'd like that rule.
