Genuinely impressed by that Knight trap into Queen attack tactic in your first game after puzzles. Good job! EDIT: sure the computer doesn't love it but it was good calculation and you gave yourself more practical chances with a queen on the board in my opinion. EDIT2: And honestly that second game was great. Awesome episode, NL!
The reason H5 was evaluated the way it was is because they messed up moving their knight. Your move wasn't winning their queen by force, they lost their queen because they didn't sack their knight. It is still definitely an amazing move against a human because they're definitely going to try and save the knight
If anyone's curious about what was going on with the analysis regarding the Queen trap, it didn't think it was that spectacular because they expected white to play knight takes f3. Pawn taking doubles up the pawn structure for absolutely no reason. I sort of wish the review looked more at opponent mistakes instead of jetting past them, haha. I -think- the reason the engine called rook takes Queen brilliant is perhaps because they saw it as capitalising on that mistake AND it was the 'only good move' which is sort of obvious to a human. And yeah, they don't consider their queen to be worth a rook and a knight, which makes sense since it was a proactive knight and a rook on an open file, while their queen wasn't doing much, so despite technically being a 1 point difference it didn't care that much. The move they liked was trading the b6 knight for the d4 bishop is a positional trade up, particularly because the Queen then has to take the bishop's spot where it isn't doing much. The line shows getting the black queen much more involved on the diagonal with the knights which is also a lot more beneficial. btw, I'm not even officially elo rated, so take this with a grain of salt
At the end of that second puzzle (at 2:05), couldn't black move their queen or knight to F6 stop the mate in one? It would block your rook from getting involved, so no matter what you did the king would have either F8 or F7 to escape to (F8 escapes if you check with the knight, F7 escapes if you check with the queen).
Warm up, and pog down boys. This will be the last chess content for a good while. If I know NL (which I do NOT) this hour long video will herald a great dearth in chess content hereinafter. Be warned…
Sorry NL, I dissliked the video by accident, I of course immediately rescinded this dislike and replaced it with the like I originally intended. Apologies for any confusion. Regards A Sheep
"You are just a guy" is one of the many based NL quotes. And I love it!
@Cry "Get dusted" has absolutely entered my everyday vocab as a result of this man.
A near-death experience makes a man ruthless in chess. Grandmaster here we come

"Bet not" XD
The computer saying H5 was bad, and then saying that H6 would have been the best follow-up was so effing funny.
10:07 You know it's insulting when they give you the back rank mate puzzels.
The simultaneous threat on every piece is a beautiful sight to behold.
I absolutely love these videos. Watching someone who is way better than me, but not some chess genius strikes the perfect balance for learning
Watching you play puzzles at an intermediate/advanced level is really enjoyable. Would love to see more of this in the future.

"I like to make warming up and cooling down moves at the same time.
I think the puzzle content is pretty pog tbh, would love to see more
“We talk about pushing your ass straight in, I’m going in a little deep, it’s a little deeper then expected”
Wise word from GM NL
he does look a bit like a certain “psychiatrist turned actor” i know
excited to see this is an hour long episode.. feels great
9:51 "This is a mate-able position." Simmer down egg
Comment to feed the algorythm and keep NL bringing chess content.
When your puzzle rating reaches 2900 the last puzzle should just be the starting position.
40:27 had me physically suffocating from laughter
What a dishonorable victory!
I loved this episode of bald man yells at the computer for telling him that he’s wrong.
That first game was absolutely bonkers. What an ending.
thank u for bringin back the chess. U shinin
I never even knew you played chess. This actually helped me so much with puzzles.
At 17:34, Rf7 doesn’t work because after Rxf7+ Qxf7, white plays Qc3 forking the black king and the A pawn
Almost missed this one 😱
Loved watching you do some puzzles
32:10 The start of the Psycho Attack
Feeding the algorithm for my beloved series, thank you egg
Chess, a gentlemens game. This Way of the Hunter pre-roll ad looks pretty good and gentlemanly.
NL on any puzzle game: I'm just a guy
NL on Chess puzzles: Galaxy brain
What an awesome episode. Even with puzzles and analysis. Thats how i love it ♥
44:30 I was SCREAMING at my screen at NL not seeing that, then going on to brag about his cool Queen capture LMFAOO
34:54 The "Psycho Attack Gambit" pays off XD
Ive been waiting for this video!
"What you look for in puzzles is always 'can I checkmate or take material?'" puzzles sound weirdly similar to regular chess huh?
NL's gonna message Levi to get some validation for h5.

40:45 is the greatest POG moment for me this video how does he get away with it
I loved the "What a dishonorable victory!" XD
That first game was something!
12:56
It’s a forced mate no matter what. If king moves, queen delivers check then checkmate.
Sheeeeesh, the egg is back and the pog is flowing.
I laughed my ass off at first game analysis xD
40:24 "oh no, my queen."
uh oh, your clock..
finally ive been looking forward to some chess
great content as always
Mate the video hasn’t been out for 5 minutes
@@blakeholtzman5974 They just going for that UA-cam karma updoots lol

Chess content is so good.
the second puzzle is not mate yet since there is Nf6, but you win the queen
At the end of that second puzzle (at 2:05), couldn't black move their queen or knight to F6 stop the mate in one? It would block your rook from getting involved, so no matter what you did the king would have either F8 or F7 to escape to (F8 escapes if you check with the knight, F7 escapes if you check with the queen).
Looks like it, but then you win the queen instead
I think NL should start playing 15 minute games, because our beloved egg gets substantially more time to perform cool attacks without blunders
“Stay Relentless”
Love you northern egg daddy 🥚
Can someone explain the victory at 40:47? I don't get it.
The no Monica had me dying
Those 2 Games are Great. 👍🏽
NICE WINS NL
Love the chess content
So much win
41:00 dutty winnin.
Feed the algorithm = more chess
egg dad is pog
I watch your channel only for the chess 👍🏻
If he treated every game like a chess puzzle he would be quite a bit better o feel xD
Oh it's a chess puzzle?
When the coach said h5 was mid that was the moment NL became Heisenberg
I heard Magnus declined to defend the WC title so he could face off against NL in pogchamps. Source: dude just trust me.

30 seconds in and already I'm just a guy
