I have a Condor pipe knife & a bushlaw blank that I finished up. Both pretty decent, got the bushlaw razor sharp. I'm looking at both of these at SMKW right now, good to find a video that demos their use. Definitely a beast of a blade!
Got my Moonshiner last week. Its a pretty good knife. Easy to sharpen and heavy enough to do light duty chopping. As for the handle. I have used Shrink fit grip tubing. The kind used on fishing poles. So it does not get slippery when wet. I've also heard the Moonshiner makes a great butcher knife in the kitchen. I also have the BK9. Its a bit lighter, and does not have much of a tip. Good review. Oh, I think the Moonshiner would split wood better, if say it had a 24 degree edge.
Looking at your review and many other has convinced me to do it. Just bought the moon stalker and I know I'll love it. All my blades are 7 in blades or less and I'm looking for a bigger one so figured I'd try this since it's at a amazing price
Jug: a friend gave me a slightly used Boomslang the other day. Went right out to the gun club in the country, and batoned a log. I think having the ability to split a log for a fire is not a bad option, and to use this one and save the Chris Reeve for the string and fish seems wise to me. Well worth the $. Five years ago Condor was very inexpensive to buy.
No doubt Israel, you do some great videos, I'm more into Bushcraft/survival, but, I enjoy most of your videos, because their very good, you don't sputter like a bad carburator either, keep up the good work, Condor tool and Knife, is OK for me, the edges roll, and on my Golok, the grind is like a thick scandi, no taper, just pararrel sides, and the edge, but, it's not your fault, I don't blame you, and I really like watching your video, your one of the best.
You probably shouldn't cover the handle scales for a review. People want to see it in stock form. Otherwise, nice review. You've got one of the best knife channels on UA-cam here.
i think i need them, Moonshiner seems like more comfortable to me but the Moonstalker looks nicer probably because of the handle but to me i would choose Moonshiner because its nice and it has nice sheath too
Gosh man I've been looking at those for quite some time now. I like the moonstalker better as well bc of the micarta. I did a...I know...I know..tabletop review on the Crotalus recently I think it has the same micarta. Condor has stepped up some for the money. BTW, if u saw the kydex sheath flaw vid, I contacted Rick Jones the general manager for Condor and he is bringing it to El Salvador at the end of the month and sending me a brand new knife and kydex sheath free shipping! Great vid & comparisons always help.
Thanks for the review I own the moonshiner and a bushlore by condor love the quality and price don't split wood with either one of them although I suppose I could got two axes for that :)
I will put my five cents in the discussion. These are the knives with which they work, therefore their value is many times greater than the knives with which they boast. Comfortable in grip, ergonomic. And I hope that the steel in them is durable and can be easily sharpened in the living conditions. The knife that needs to be given to the specialist for sharpening is not a knife, but an object of art.
Oh hell yeah, I've been waiting for you to review these bad boys! I've been wanting the Moonstalker since it was announced, and I just ordered that one today(I also ordered the new Condor Bombus neck knife too, and just got the 2014 El Salvador machete to boot). Heh, got any other Condor reviews upcoming, maybe the Solobolo, or Daikaiju(I can hope!)?
1075 is actually a better steel for these knives !! 1095 is a harder steel for a better lasting edge, but 1075 can take a bearing better and isn't quite as brittle. 1075 steel is better for hacking and chopping, 1095 steel is better for like military defense knives because of their ability to hold an edge really well !!! 1095 doesn't actually mean it's a better or stronger steel. Also a lot of condors knives are hand crafted with a lot more detail and craftsmanship going into them, then some of these other companys who do not.. Joe flower is an extreme survivalist and knife expert, and condor knives are what he uses. I have to say my condors knife I got off an old guy, and it has characteristics of both knives, it has the handle and sheath of the moonstalker, but the blade of the moonshiner.
I know I'm very late but I have a name for the tactical third option for these blades: The *Moonraker* , after the James Bond film, you can't get anymore tactical than that.
It is called a false-edge, and it has no place on a camp knife OR a bowie/fighting knife. They are detrimental to camp use, and fighting knives have an actual SHARP edge on the back. On doesn't back cut with a false-edge. That is ridiculous.
I really like your videos and your channel. The videos are very well made and informative. You choose to review very interesting knives. I'm smashing that subscribe button and ringing that bell. I'm particularly interested in THIS review since it just so happened I was considering the purchase of one of these knives. I REALLY like the side by side comparison. Keep up the great work!😀 Best regards, JA
Both options look sweet as hell, another great vid man. Wooden handle version reminds me of one of those old west style knives, classy. Keep up the great work, peace.
Another great vid! Does the weight difference have anything to do with the grind, spine thickness, or tang? Or does it seem to just be a result of the micarta versus wood handle configuration?
WeAllJuggleKnives not as much as I used too. I have been on a knife kick for awhile now. I need more $. Schrade is supposed to be sending me some 2015 fixed blades soon.
Considering a Condor as go to outdoor blade after watching your reviews. I have an Esee 5 for that purpose at the moment, I used the crap out of it but I'm not too satisfied with it. It is just too short and the blade is too thick. I feel like you need to use more energy to get the same results as you would with another blade of this type. Did you ever think to check out the Carnera made by Viper (Italy)? Looks like a mean and sexy chopper. A bit on the expensive side but hey, as long as it works great I don't care. At the moment I still can't decide between the Junglas, the Moonstalker (or a good machete from Condor) and the Carnera.
Then you should've bought an ESEE-6. It's a bit larger than the 5 with a full flat grind. If that's too small, the Junglas has a full-flat grind and a 10" blade.
jeredsyn1964 For the intro in the beginning, I cleaned it off (action stuff was filmed before the intro), so that is as clean as it gets, the satin finish will eventually look pretty scuffed up even after cleaning and re-polishing.
I don't think they chose 1075 due to price, the price 1075 steel and 1095 steel is almost the same. .At www.admiralsteel.com/shop/ 1075 is .14 cents a foot more expensive in .250" X 2". 1075 is probably will flex more and take a little more pounding than similarly hardened 1095. Also 1075 allows for a slower quench and is,less prone to warping so heat treating can be done in a less technologically sophisticated facility. (I am assuming these knives are made in El Salvador like condors other products) these look like they's make a pretty good camp blade.
Another Glowing Review, what a shock. People, these professional reviewers on UA-cam are "Selling" these products. Look for reviews from just a regular Joe Schmo owner doing an Occassional review on something he actually paid for. The Guys with Channels reviewing hundreds of products are just selling merchandise for that company. In return they receive free Gear,. They are not going to criticise the product because the companies that provide the gear will cut them off. Sorry but someone had to say it.
+Bob Fornly Gear for good reviews is a serious problem, you just have to figure out which ones do that. You have to remember, this is a $50 knife. Not a $200 one and your expectations should be scaled as such. I'd expect much more out of a ESEE Junglas or a Busse Battle Mistress than this knife.
I want the moonshiner because I love leather case. I would get the moonstalker if the case wasn't shit. Would really like your opinion on what to buy? Basically if you had to buy one, which one would it be? Love the video's man. Subbed and liked your vids bro
+WeAllJuggleKnives Thank you for the reply. Was also going to get the Condor Dundee Bowie. Really want a big scary bowie with a thick spine to carry around when I am bear baiting. Well, take care buddy!
I wold like to see a side by side comparison of the moonstalker and the Ontario sp5 survival Bowie. they are both similar in size and weight, and price, but have different steel. which would be the better big wilderness blade?
i beat the living crap out of my condor blades i do it summer winter fall and year around ive done it in -30 and +30 and the steel is built like a tank...i havent been able to break one yet and i dont use an axe ever, ive beaten even the bushlore trougha frozen pine knot...i was certain the blade would snap but the edge slightly rolled...that was it it was fixed on the waterstone and that was their thinnest blade.
+faultroy but the BK9 is cheap, I used it 3 times, and the damn handle cracked ! The condor knives are made much better. I've found a wide, mildly thick blade , with a good edge, made of good steel is all you need. The condor knives above are great, I don't know if your rants are to try and prove your knowledge about knives or how much you backpack but it's pretty pointless. do you even actually own one of the condors moon series knives ???
+faCondo Watch HevnerKnifereview channel on the Condor Moonshiner, I think for young man he proves very well bow capable that knife is. He is a huge Becker fan and loves his BK9 but in that review he is very impressed with the Condor and boy he gave it a good workout. I say save money and buy Condor
Well that review came quickly lol you were a bit unsure about the reviewing of these knives and might get round to it.. but then seemingly in the same video you changed your mind and did a review straight away lol (might be a different video and day, donno). EDIT: oh you've had them for over a monthhh.. yea you probably just uploaded them together then despite being at different times.
C'mon man, that Moonstalker I guess is "tactical" enough ... Too bad is dicontinued (apparently) Kydex, although very cool, I guess is a bit overrated Think a second : kydex is best with shorter knives , "tactical blades" , you could attach those on your shoulder - but with that kind of blades is not feasible ... You would carry on your hip anyways : so, what's the point ? Yeah, I know, G10 is more tough than micarta - but is also more expensive ... I guess Condor made it right with that Moonstalker - too bad is no longer available - as it seems .... So, it seems that I should get the Moonshiner - with all its drawbacks ( though those aren't quite drawbacks - as its stands - our granpas' were happy enough with wooden handles and leather sheats - so I guess it's quite workable after all - how could those guys survive without kydex and G10 I don't know - I'm joking, of course )
If someone sends hate mail ignore them. Don't entertain muppets, its like giving in to Bullies! As for batoning, you only use in a situation were you have lost your mind. In a emergency would you risk a tool to depend on? Make a wooden wedge.
I love this video! I'm getting one soon so here am watching your review again....LOL sick I know... LOL I love this knife porn. Hey brother check out HevnerKnifereviews them kids do great vids reviews and his review on the Moonshiner is rock solid and really shows off that blade. I'm probably gonna get the Shiner cause everyone has the Moonstalker in the 69$ range but man the Stalker is beefy.
It makes me wish i had listened to myself a few years ago when the prices were more than fair. Because they might be 1075. But they are good knives. Don't own one myself but never really heard anything bad about them.
Say Heah Is. A $64,000.00 question, Which Knives, Those Condor's or the BK-5 ? Thanx You, in advance. ,, . Oh, Don't forget to vote for me for President of the U. S. heh heh heh. ,, .
Thanx You, Seriously, I do have (2) I bought the first one because Iiked it, and because I wanted to get the whole line of BK's, and I have almost all of them, The ones I don't have, I find no need for them what I use them for, But I have (2) BK-14's in both color Slabs, black and orange. The second one, I got by pulling the trigger on the Bundok BK-20 The Limited Edition came with the BK-20 and tge BK-4 and the BK-5. Then I was at Blade Forum when E. B. was telling us that only 450 Set's were made, And that they won't be made anymore, The BK4and BM-5 were also discontinued. So hold on to yours, I think they will be collectibles, Look at the Camillus BK's, They went up in value, more then they sold originally. Oh, The 1095 CroVan is the same steel as the old Cold Steel CarbonV Knives, I wonder why C. S. Doesn't make the CarbonV anymore, But atleast their using O1 and 3V, That Master Hunter is sweet, I have it in the San Mai 3, I think E B had something to do with the design, Atleast it sounds like it, The way he praises it. Oh, I got my facts from zknives.com (enjoy).,, . Did you ever searched Paulie 4X at Google Plus ? I have a couple of Knives posted, and tell me what you think Ok.,, .
I like the way you did the video. Very captive yet not distracting. Better than what I've seen from others.
Gabe Hall Thank you!

Thanks again wajk, quick, no fuss reviews, I love em!
Beejay Sanders Welcome!

Thanks for the review I own the moonshiner and a bushlore by condor love the quality and price don't split wood with either one of them although I suppose I could got two axes for that :)
this is a good side arm blade
greetings from a Belgian fan and subscriber
Now that's a knife. I love XL fixed blades!
I will put my five cents in the discussion. These are the knives with which they work, therefore their value is many times greater than the knives with which they boast. Comfortable in grip, ergonomic. And I hope that the steel in them is durable and can be easily sharpened in the living conditions. a shiney condor. perfection!
and i can not believe that price!!
G10 AND Kydex suggestion for like $60.00 would be a no brainer instant buy for me.
For the price, the moon stalker looks hard to beat!
Love these two.
Oh hell yeah, I've been waiting for you to review these bad boys! +Fred Brown Yeah these are solid designs from a good company, only retarded people who can't afford them gripe about them.
I agree that 1095 is more suitable for smaller blades. I honestly don't understand why ESEE went from 5160 in the RTAK to 1095 in the Junglas.

I found the moonshiner's swedge was almost sharp. Still a great video.
I think the 3rd knive should be the Hudson Bay by condor since both of them are based on it
so far the most impressive non machete from condor i have seen
checkout the bushlore
nice, but for me i would prefer that the false edge on top be sharpen for a back cut
Ey, have you checked out that new Condor Atrox? I'm so excited for it.
Good job, good vid. Now I want a moonshiner.🤘
I know I'm very late but I have a name for the tactical third option for these blades: The *Moonraker* , after the James Bond film, you can't get anymore tactical than that.
Condor, listen to this man! :D
What is the point of the swedge? Seems unnecessary to me..
On a camp knife, none.
The swedge actually stopped me to get the moonshiner and get the Hudson Bay instead. No regret.
that swedge doesn't belong on those blades at all.
It is called a false-edge, and it has no place on a camp knife OR a bowie/fighting knife. They are detrimental to camp use, and fighting knives have an actual SHARP edge on the back. On doesn't back cut with a false-edge. That is ridiculous.
Cybrok I agree. I prefer the Hudson Bay
Can you please answer why the Moonstalker is heavier than the Moonshiner please?
is it just the handles? Love your reviews.
+Billy Moss Yes, the Micarta handle scales are a lot heavier.
Keep up the great work!😀
Best regards, JA
Excellent! Welcome to the channel! I try to show a mixture of the useful, unusual, budget friendly!
does it do well in chopping through shrubs and other chopping tasks?
can you make a review of the Norwegian Same knife?
Both options look sweet as hell, another great vid man. Wooden handle version reminds me of one of those old west style knives, classy. Keep up the great work, peace.
Macho Deth Thanks, bro
Ok im sold thanks for the heads up playa!
***** You'll like them!
Another great vid! Does the weight difference have anything to do with the grind, spine thickness, or tang? Or does it seem to just be a result of the micarta versus wood handle configuration?
Eric Jonas The Moonstalker is slightly thicker, and also the scales are heavier, so two reasons.
WeAllJuggleKnives
You da best! Thanks
i am close to pulling the trigger on the Moonshiner
***** You love pulling triggers!
WeAllJuggleKnives not as much as I used too. I have been on a knife kick for awhile now. I need more $. Schrade is supposed to be sending me some 2015 fixed blades soon.

Nice review.
LOVE YOUR REVIEWS THANKYOU
request - cold steel recon scout vs condor operator bowie
Love the monshiner
That moonstalker looks like an ESEE Junglas from far away
Thanks for the info.
do the condor stratos!!!
Damm the priceses y guys have in dk it is 100 dollars and you need special permit for a knife that size any way nice vid man
I love my Moonstalker.
Would you consider filing or sanding down the swedge to make it flatter? And it would probably have a sick, slight clip point. What do you think?
It is a good idea, it's always great to customize tools to fit your needs!
Oh damn man thanks for the reply I never get reply’s LMAO subscribed now
Excellent! I try to respond to as many as possible, I think I manage about 90% on a good day :D
And just when I was in the market for a big knife :)
I'm curious if the one with out the powder coat cleans up, looks like it got a little gunky from the wood.
jeredsyn1964 For the intro in the beginning, I cleaned it off (action stuff was filmed before the intro), so that is as clean as it gets, the satin finish will eventually look pretty scuffed up even after cleaning and re-polishing.
I don't care about batoning. I like to see throwing!
good review!!!
one thing I'm disappointed in is that the moonstalker doesn't come with the classic condor leather!! sheath i would probably buy it if it did
Same
I don't think they chose 1075 due to price, the price 1075 steel and 1095 steel is almost the same. .At www.admiralsteel.com/shop/ 1075 is .14 cents a foot more expensive in .250" X 2". 1075 is probably will flex more and take a little more pounding than similarly hardened 1095. +Daniel Ruthven I would go with the Moonstalker, more weight behind it.
+WeAllJuggleKnives Hey thanks for the response. How about the different steels, is the 1075 better for a big blade or the 1095?
Daniel Ruthven
Most people would prefer the 1095, but not to a huge degree.
+WeAllJuggleKnives Thanks
i beat the living crap out of my condor blades i do it summer winter fall and year around ive done it in -30 and +30 and the steel is built like a tank...i havent been able to break one yet and i dont use an axe ever, ive beaten even the bushlore trougha frozen pine knot...i was certain the blade would snap but the edge slightly rolled...that was it it was fixed on the waterstone and that was their thinnest blade.
So the moonstalkers/shiners handle is bigger then the bk9?
vanrickenstien Their handles are longer but the blades are like a tiny bit shorter.
I'd bet that the Moonshiner would out-chop the BK9 and the Junglas due to edge geometry, Convexed edges will always out chop conventenal V edges.
+faultroy but the BK9 is cheap, I used it 3 times, and the damn handle cracked ! The condor knives are made much better. BK9 or Moonstalker?
I would go with the BK9 first, because a lot more people have tested it out and really liked it.

I'm probably gonna get the Shiner cause everyone has the Moonstalker in the 69$ range but man the Stalker is beefy.
£89 in UK, in 2024 .....( that's incl VAT ) Jeeeezuz ....that's one way of disarming ordinary people ! 😱
I feel your pain!
Just checked, over twice the price in the UK. They are robbing bastards!
The edge on my moonshiner rolled cutting through a knot on some ash
Piece of cake 👍👍lol
With 1075. The price point is to high.
Yes, Condor prices have been creeping too high these last few years.
It makes me wish i had listened to myself a few years ago when the prices were more than fair. Because they might be 1075. But they are good knives. Don't own one myself but never really heard anything bad about them.
If Condor made these knives without that stupid, baton eating false-edge, I'd by a moonstalker in a heartbeat.
Say Heah Is. A $64,000.00 question, Which Knives, Those Condor's or the BK-5 ? Thanx You, in advance. ,, . Oh, Don't forget to vote for me for President of the U. S. heh heh heh. ,, .
BK-5
