A big thank you to Laurel Mountain Mustang for making the steering on the 1969 Mustang like new. We used their 7 Piece Power Steering Kit to restore the entire set up to factory fresh. Each subcomponent of the entire steering system was cleaned, inspected, replaced and reassembled to factory specs. This is part 46 of the restoration. Will this Mustang Connection car make it to the 50th Anniversary Mustang Celebration?

After seeing the complexity of that power steering system I'm glad I chose a manual rack.

How easy is it to turn the steering wheel on a stationary car not moving? Because in my case it's very difficult to turn the steering when the car is parked, however once it starts moving it gets really easy to steer.

I did everything on my 69 mach 1 New stock suspension rebuilt control valve ,new seals, boot etc EVERYTHING ! ALIGNED but now it steers kind of jerky to the right. Like it wants to oversteer. New shocks front and rear. New coils up front New leafs in back, New bfGoodrich tires? stock wheels ,New bearings, 11in stock rotors turned. EVERYTHING IS NEW OR REBUILT. Now it steers funky to the right
Fantastic on straight away.Any idea ?

It is likely one of the seals in the ram or control valve that are not functioning properly. These systems are tough to get right with all of the aftermaket stuff.

I rebuilt the control valve but now my power steering pump is heating up, any ideas why? It almost sounds like the oil wants to come out of the reservoir.

+Orlando Ruiz You may have the power steering control valve hoses backwards, but not sure that would cause it to overheat. It would cause pressure issues though. Impossible to say without being there or seeing it....

How much did you ended spending? I have a 69 myself but its leaking.

Moises Vazquez I managed to get a good deal at Laurel Mountain Mustang. It really depends on what you actually need. First this is to wipe everything down and de-grease so you can diagnose where the leak is coming from. It may just be as simple as a hose.

It's not a steering rack. So the first thing you say is inaccurate. So you are supposed to be an expert? Use the correct terminology. This is exactly how people learn things wrongly . .people look here for info . give them accurate info!
