It's great to hear someone say they love charcoal. So do I, but not sure why. That was fantastic. Your manner is light and non-threatening, a pleasure to watch and listen to.
This is so simplistic. Yet you lend us your lens into a dark eerie eve lit only by the moon as we stare into the eye of the squawking watcher of the night. Well done. Love this one.
You are such a sweetie, and a talented artist. I am a watercolorist and have been trying to paint a tree that I saw in Arizona with ravens on it. After several failed attempts, I turned to UA-cam. I found your tutorial, and your atmospheric rendering in charcoal with all your tips, was just great. Thanks.
I've always loved using my fingers rather than a blending stump. I don't know, I just love... and this is gonna sound weird... caressing... the page? I think it's kind of cool that you could take a piece of paper that I was drawing on and find my DNA in it. So you're not the only one, of course :) And I kind of smiled when you said you get charcoal on your face sometimes, because that always happens to me too.
This month's Sketchbox had all charcoal supplies in it, including vine charcoal which I'd never heard of before. And I've never used charcoal before. So this video (which I chose just for the spooky bird) was PERFECT! Thank you for taking the time to make and post it!
I've just begun learning to draw late in life and I've watched many tutorials- this is one of my favorites. Many pieces have much more detail and realism but I like this more than any of them. I can't explain why, it just has more ?personality? Thanks for posting.
This helped me. I am drawing in ink, so a little different than charcoal. But I wanted to state that the commentary while you work was entertaining and somehow soothing. So I may not have been copying because I'm doing a Raven, but you are delightful!
Get a tin box with a lid. Get some willow branches a little bigger round and just as long as a pencil. Shave off the bark. Place the sticks in the box close it up and build a fire around the box, when the fire is out and cool open it up and check out your new charcoal pencils!
I love your work. Your mountain scene drawing helped me create a drawing for my life drawing class. Also on the art supplier stores, Hobby Lobby has great products. I've gotten great graphite pencils from them ranging from 4H to 9 XXB. Also they have online coupons for 20% off so the savings are great. However I wanted to ask you how you like to apply your lines to create movement and the dynamics of your strokes. So for instance if you are drawing a river or a mountain.
That's really cool!!! I like your video very much. It's not like just a drawing it's like a real art. It was funny to work because your lesson wasn't boring and monotonous. And your voice and hands are nice :)) I drew it with you simultaneously (and it seems to me that my raven is not bad) =)
I have one of those eraser pencils and at first I thought it was kind of useless because I bought it to erase highlights but it simply doesn't erase enough for that but I seen how you use it for the layering of the feathers and I'm gonna give that a try. Could you list a few other uses for it in the comments. Also making a tutorial on just how to use that thing might not be a waste of time. Thanks. I thought I wasted my money. I was even going to try a different brand. I have the same one that you have.
This is amazing how you can draw with charcoal I tried this my self and I was proud of my self when I finished. I didn't have all the charcoals you have. I just have a basic set but it still turned out good I think. You should do a challenge were you use what most people have in the way of charcoal and draw something. Not like you will take this suggestion I don't manage your channel. But it would be cool if you did
I love this piece you have done :) I 've had charcoal for months. I've been tempted to work with it but haven't yet. I have white and black pencils a woodless pencil, and a package of compressed . Have you used a woodless charcoal pencil before ? If so, what do you think of it? Cheers!!
Hi there, huge fan of your videos. i absolutely love your style of drawing with charcoal. i wanted to ask how you managed to learn to draw like that? any books that you have read or that you would recommend to me for reading would be a huge help for me to start learning myself. hopefully i hear from you soon, thank you
thank you so much. i love to draw. but some people they don't show exactly how to do it. you are wonderful. i am old lady . my leisure time i like to draw. unfortunately i can't buy a lot of thing where i live. but i have got 6B pencil. so i kept on scrabbling.
i have "how to draw a crow on a tree branch" as the first item on my bucket list. wow, total head rush, you're living the dream man! my second item was "how to make a video on how to draw a crow on a tree branch" what are the odds? like 50 to 1???
This is amazing! You make it look so easy, it's probably just "doodling" to you. haha What do you do with these after you're done drawing them? This one in particular would look really nice in a frame. :)
Do I have to do this with vine charcoal or can I use a pencil instead?... (I literally started drawing yesterday and all I have is a 4b and the usual ones.)
in 8th grade my teacher said that if I blend with my fi ger my project would turn out bad. but I brought her back a drawing of me that looked just like the picture and I kinda changed her opinion lol
