    ROUTE - explore.osmaps...
Join me on a recent solo hike up Helvellyn from Swirls Car Park ( Postcode - CA12 4TW)
This is a paid car park. It had the option to pay on your card and there are toilets.
There is a free to park layby a little further on.
This year I am trying to hike up at least 1 mountain a month. This month I have been really busy at the weekends with family commitments, so I left May's hike until the last minute.
The weather has been AWFUL all month (May 2024), and unfortunately I didn't get any nice summer views but at least I managed to get this months Mountain done . I chose this route because I have done it before, and there is a pretty clear and unexposed path/route up to the summit.
Visibility was forecast to be really poor, so I thought it was safest to do a route that I was familiar with and one that would be easy to follow safely in poor visibility. It is the most direct route up to the summit, however, this means that it is also steep and the first half up is a bit of a slog.
The rocks on the path can be splippery when wet, especially when the grass is growing between them so mind your step and take it easy.
I always think the ascent of a Mountain hike is tough on the mind, and the descent is tough on the body, but the feeling you get at the top makes it so worthwhile.

    Hello mate. That was great.
Had a lot in this vid. Good drone images to start with, at times the clouds looked really nice.
It was pretty much all yours😁
Seagull nearly stole your camera and your van broke down😂👏👏
Really sorry to hear about your father in law. Please send my regards to your Mrs ❤
My mother passed away 10 years 53. Cancer. It's a git.
You are picking up with your videos now. I'm still new myself, you have more subs than I did. It will come my friend.😉
Looking forward to your next one👋

They really do add a different dimension to a video don't they. I've got to admit, I find it a bit of a faff sometimes, but it's definitely worth it. I love Helvellyn, but I have only done this route, i'd love to go up from Glenridding via striding edge!

@@Hiking.and.mountains they are and I think it's worth it for the views. Yeah I think if I went back there it would be the striding edge route. 😊

Hi mate, such a shame you didn’t get any views on the Summit. I feel your pain,nI’ve had Helvellyn in exactly the same conditions.
    All the best mate,
    Dave 😀🥾⛰

Thanks mate, it’s one of those things. Sometimes it’s beautiful, sometimes you can barely see 10m in front of you 😂. Still good for the body and mind to get up there though ⛰️
