Oh hey won't the green wood you cut to make the pipe stems shrink as it dries out though and become less snug? Or does the beeswax coating seal it enough to keep it from drying out? Or did you let the wood dry thoroughly before you took it off the clothes line?
Drilling the holes in the stems is actually the easiest part of the job. The walnut tree finds its own space inside its branch. and I easily open this hole with the help of a wooden skewer. I don't do any drilling. Nature takes care of this for me. You can see this at 9:20.

I fresh walnut tree branch products. There is a very large formation inside. In addition, there is a similar structure in the fig tree. Other trees also have the same feature. If you have this type of tree around you, I definitely recommend you to try it.
Can you explain your step starting at 15:08? That looks like a slender dowel rod you are inserting, but how did you get it to go so smoothly through the stem? I must say, this is one of the most amazing videos on pipe making I have seen and I very much want to try this!
thanks for watching. What I do there is to clear the space inside the branches I used. There is a natural gap inside the walnut tree branches. Of course, a little cleaning is required to ensure air passage through this gap. With this method, I avoid having to perform another drilling process. A fresh walnut tree branch works really well to make a stem for pipes. Then I put these three pieces together using beeswax.

Making a pipe is easy, making a good pipe is hard. Each style of tobacco has a size and shape that works best for that tobacco or blend.. Flakes do well in smaller bowls while ribbon is best in large pots or stacks. Narrow and deep gives strong flavors, wide and deep gives milder flavor and long burns. 1.5"×.75" is a great bowl size for many blends. By the time you get below .65" it is too small. Pots are nice at .85" to an inch. So a lot about pipe making seems to be what tobacco the pipe will be used for. Also, anyone who really enjoys daily bowls finds out briar is fussy and end up buying a Falcon with some spare bowls.
