I’ll go ahead and let everyone here know right now. This simple modification makes all the difference. I just used it for the first time this morning, and it’s a completely different gun. It laid down a perfect coat with maybe 10% of the powder this gun used to consume. No sputtering. No inconsistencies. If you own the HF powder coat gun this kit is a must have.

I'm waiting for the HF kit to be ready, so I can order all of it (Eastwood and HF parts) all at once. Love that someone took some initiative and decided to hash these things out. Kudos to you, Sir!

Yeah my harbor freight gun said to set between 10 and 30 psi. Set at 20 and it would belch powder then give me barely anything. I had to run it at 30 and TRY to be gentle on thr trigger while shaking the gun the entire time. Plus I had to spray upwards on some parts and the top feed was not liking that. For now I will order the air tube and the diffuser you make for this gun. I got the link from another video of yours already. Should help a lot to move more volume and less pressure. Thank you sir for this!

Thanks, I just ordered your mixing tube for my HF. Like most HF items, you can buy upgrades made by master fabricators like you, that turn a POS into a nice unit. I bought upgrades for my blast cabinet also. Even after upgrades the cost was still much less than a higher end brand, but works great.

Would it be good idea to drill the single hole to 1/8 or just drill 2 more 1/8 holes in the original one if it that makes it better does the original diffuser work?
You'll have to experiment with it. I never have converted one.
Glad I found this. I drilled the single hole out to 3mm (~1/8”) after using my gun for the first time 4months ago and it definitely improved function. Did u go from the original size hole that it came with right to the 3 holes in the tube u made or did u bump up to 3 holes after trying less? I’m curious now was scared to go too big or add more. so maybe I’ll look into this. I definitely like ur diffuser. I powdercoated some BC racing coilover springs when I first got the gun and it just didn’t come out as thick as a good powdercoat should be 😢.

I have a few cars 20-35 yrs old that I keep garaged and keep up and unless you have a lotta parts to get coated @ a time(@least in MA) it’s gonna get really expensive. Shops charge $100+/hr to coat & another 100/hr for sandblasting/prep

On another note, do you think it’s possible to cut the wire lead close to the gun and add in some kind of disconnect of sorts on both ends so so I don’t have a tether and have to carry the whole unit when I want to clean the gun?
This modification made a bigger difference than I was expecting. I will have them out soon along with the DIFFUSER KIT. I'll have an offer to buy either individually or as paired items. If bought as a pair, DIFFUSER KIT/AIR INTAKE KIT, it will be discounted.
It's a coaxial cable type wire. The outside braided part of the wire is the ground and the very small single inner wire is your positive. Yes you can put some disconnectors on it, but they'll need to be very small gauge disconnectors.
This is what I use on my Eastwood gun. The shield does not need to be connected only the core wire. I have been using this connector for 8 years with zero issues. Makes cleaning and powder changes aheluva lot easier.

Dumb question but when you say you're using 5psi, you mean the regulator is set to 5psi or you're at 5psi with the trigger pulled, as in operating pressure so you're regulator would be set around the 15-20ish psi?

Why buy a professional gun when u can make a cheap gun blow just as good inlets u are making alot of money off powder coating. I just bought the eastwood dual voltage gun and got your diffuser kit. And I can say I'm only limited of what I can spray by what will fit in my powder coat stove which is just a normal household stove I got for free.. I see me building a bigger stove really soon to be able to do atv and dirt bike frames and rims..

Has anyone had success using the HF gun on 2 coats like a color and clearcoat over the top? Or is a dual voltage required. Apologies if too far off topic. Thanks
