Stoked to come across this. Getting back into surfing after a couple of decades off. I'm 62 , 15 1/2 st and 6'2". Straight away I noticed your a big guy like myself , and you were ripping on that thing then couldn't believe what size you were riding! MR was a big hero of mine growing up in the 70's in Aus. Used to be able to hold my own in the line up but now I would put myself as a intermediate surfer. In your opinion what size would reckon would be good , still want to duck dive. Cheers Martyn Pembrokeshire Wales.
@@MrPododwyer I haven't heard great things about the Deadly Mondo - I heard they used fake Futures boxes, so proper Futures don't actually fit properly...
I've been riding a 5'4 Softech Torpedo @ 5'4 and 42L. Its perfect for me at 88kg. Problem is they don't make them anymore and there is nothing on the market under 5'6 with 40L or more.
hey, great review, i m considering to get the board as a transition board from long 9 to shorter , i m 177 cm and 70 kg you think it´s possible to duckdive the board? which length would you recommend? thanks David
like a great option - you should also check out the new Haydenshapes Hypto Krypto soft (Our review will be live in 7 hours). You can duckdive the board for sure. To make sure you have appropriate volume etc, maybe go the 6'0
I bought the 6 foot version of this in 2021 at 85 kgs, 2023 I’m 95 kgs and 6”2 tall, do you think it will hold me still or am I looking at a new board, I wanna start surfing again 👍
Great Review, love the shape and interested in buying it, i usually surf reef break chest head high but where I live there are no surf shops (East Africa) So am looking for something that will last and not ding as can only really get a board once every 2 years or so when have a mate or myself travel abroad. My budget is small hence looking at the soft top. Plus cannot find surf wax where i live so great not to need wax. Shape looks like it could handle some size not just a groveller. Would you say it is a good option for an intermediate surfer playing in head high waves? Would you say it is a stiffer build than the MF soft performance boards as it has a stringer? thanks for the review, yours is literally the only review of this board on the net, searched everywhere.
hey! bought one, really enjoy this board! do you notice any water leakage when the board is "drying"? I saw that happening with mine, wondering if it has to do with the water that the soft part absorves during surfing
Hey man I was goin to buy it but the one I rent has the same problem…dont know how they use it but It looks like new and it has the same problem…you sure it’s not a fabbrication problem!?
Good question! I would never ride a 37L shortboard as it would feel huge, but 37L in a foamy feels fine! But the 31 litres I ride in a shortboard would feel way too small in a foamy! Definitely add a few a litres to the foamy over a PU/PE surfboard!
I’ve got the Ezi-Rider MR Twin and I find it pretty loose/twitchy with the stock fins. I’ve got it for small days and simple down the line surfing, would you recommend Keels over twins for this sort of thing?
Heey Craig, really nice video ; ) I'm somewhere inbetwen beginner an intermediate. Im 173cm an 145lbs (65kg). Would you recommend this board for my level if i'd take the 41litre 6.0? Or is it more for intermediate to advaced surfers? Thanks for your help
@@TheSurfboardGuide Thanks for the reply, pretty much same weight as me. This may be worth a go then, I was thinking i'd maybe have to go the 6'0 but I reckon softboards should be short and wide. Could you possibly test the Ocean and Earth Fester Foamie. The specs are 5'2 and 40L, might be even more fun?
@@TheSurfboardGuide , my friend just finished a 24 day water only fast. He said you could smell the chemtrail heavy metals coming out of him. By day 6 he noticed mental clarity. He lost 30 lbs in 24 days & feels great! By day 5 the body goes into a state of autophagy so your body actually eats the extra loose skin so as you loose weight your skin tightens unlike fad diets that leave you with loose sagging skin.
@@TheSurfboardGuide The video is really good but you should have mentioned this in it. I'm going to get one but I wanted to know if the grippy top actually did the job or not haha!

Hey mate! I think there are two sizes? Maybe get on the larger one to maker sure it has the float and paddle power!
great review craig! love the chill vibe , softies rule in summer, yeeeow! 🤙🤟
Karl Jakobsson they’re so much fun! This one was particularly good! 👌
Just pulled the trigger on a 5'9" 39L with 3 future boxes, I'm 172cm and 95kg at the moment, but your video gives me hope I "could" rip on it too 😊
Nice rides in there. Like the review style. Subscribed 🤙
Thanks - tell your friends too! haha!
Waiting for mine bought one yesterday for California southern coast :)
how/where did you order one for CA?
Epic - hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Cheers mate, looks like a fun softboard. Any chance of doing a review on the MR/Mayhem California Twin?
Hey mate!
No, it’s not on the radar, and it’s been out a while now. They look epic though, anything MR would be good!
Good review 👍....I'm undecided between these two deadly mondo 5'5 or mark Richard epoxy 5'6?
Oh, who makes the Deadly Mondo?
Hey I had the deadly mondo, sold it and replaced it with this, it's way nicer to surf

Hey! I think the MF boards have a stringer too?
Its a good strong construction, and would tick a lot of the boxes you mentioned above!
Good luck!

Yeah - the 6'0 is going to have lots of stability, and be really easy to paddle!

How much do you weigh coz I’m 81kg and it says 70kg down so idk
92kgs - what says 70kgs?

Yeah, that's around 20 pounds lighter than me, so should be fine!

Do you have to wax it?
If you want to, but it’s pretty grippy...
Are you wearing a brown rashie?
Darren WA haha! It’s a 1mm wetsuit top, and “burnt peach” is the colour.
After seeing it on film, it may be the last time I wear it... 😂

Yeah - but you don't have to.

Yes - when it is new!
