When I was in 10th grade ( 1971) they had me fill out a form listing my mom and dad's occupation. I answered none of your business. I was suspended until my Mom or Dad bought me in. The next daymy father brought me in. He was pissed off at me for disobeying. The assistant principal asked my Dad what he did for a living. He said " None of your business" 50 years later, I still remember that.

I opened a basic checking account at the credit union I have been doing business with for over 40 years. They asked me my occupation. I said I was retired. They asked what I did before I retired. I asked why they needed to know this. She said, it's the Patriot Act that requires this information. I can't believe how far our government scrutinizes private citizens.

Years ago when I was looking for a job as a Nanny to someone’s children, I applied to an agency advertising in our local paper. The agent sounded very chirpy and confident she would find me a local job. The form she sent me to fill in was very long and asked for so much personal information ~ such as what were my parents and grandparents names, where were they born and when, what did they do for work etc. I became very uncomfortable with all these questions which seemed to be completely irrelevant to my qualifications to do the job, so I refused to answer a lot of them and just put what they needed to know before sending it off. I never heard from the ‘agency’ again and I began to suspect that they were in the business of forging false identities!

If you deny to answer those questions the bank will turn you down for that loan . It's either you play their game or you get nothing . I had a form at a doctor's office ask me if there was a gun at my house . I wrote that it was against my Constitutional Rights to ask that and never answered .

So basically the questions are on the application form and the applicant can choose NOT to answer, however, they’re more likely to be denied the loan if they do not. These kinds of questions shouldn’t even be on the form in 2023!!

The contradictions in the CFPB Directors testimony are comical. I question whether this situation fits the elements of a data breach or whether the former employee was charged with this because they are a whistleblower otherwise known as an “insider threat.”The terms are used interchangeably by the CFPB but the term “insider threat” is used in this instance to alert democratic party members/congress of the threat that an individual has empirical truth of misconduct by CFPB management teams who target republican affiliated depositary/non-depositary institutions. Let's remember who created the CFPB.....Elizabeth Warren. She's a democrat and strongly allied with Chopra as evidence by the many news articles the media reported on about their alliance. Internal CFPB staff can verify how weird their relationship really is. They are both mentally ill individuals who manipulate the rule of law for their own political and personal advantages, all under the guise of "Protection."
Senator Kennedy is right to ask why certain data must be collected from consumers by our banking institutions and then provided to the CFPB for its "examination " to determine “compliance” with the Dodd Frank Act. That’s not logical or reasonable. Folks....the CFPB is polarizing us as private individuals in a capitalistic country. And let's remember who is supposed to be in control in a capitalistic system as we review the definition: capitalism is an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit. No where in that definition does it state that PUBLIC SERVANTS are those in control.
Also, The CFPB director indicated that no social security numbers, no birthdates, no account numbers were transferred, just the names alone. Names alone do not constitute a sensitive data breach; and sensitive data is when other identifying elements like social security numbers, birthdates, or account numbers are connected to Names. For instance, there could be millions of individuals with the name John Doe; however, if that name is connected to a social security number, the connection of those two identifying elements creates sensitive information. A standalone name is not sensitive information. In fact, try googling your own name, and check it out.
