Eh, he seems more like a mix between Thutmoses III and Ahmenhotep III to me. Thutmose III was one of the greatest warrior-kings Egypt ever produced, who brought the Egyptian empire to the zenith of its military power by conquering all of Syria, crossing the Euphrates to defeat the Mitannians, and penetrating south along the Nile River to Napata in the Sudan. Ahmenhotep III, by contrast, was one of Egypt's greatest peacetime rulers. The lore in this universe is so expansive and diverse that knowing all of it is a full time job for sure. Thumbs up and a subscribe for you sir. To have the balls to basically say "I know you're gods, but f*** you anyways" is probably the most badass thing in all of the lore.

I personally want to see Malekith covered next, as I love the dark elves and he’s probably my favorite character (next to Karl Franz).

One thing about Settras and Nehekharas history did always made me wonder. At the time of Settras rule the Elves and Drwarfs had vast empires of their own. The Asur especially had many colonies very close to Nehekhara. Settra expanded into lands that on other maps are shown to have been parts of either elven or Dawi empires. Yet we know nothing at all about any contacts between the elves and Nehekharans, prior to the Druchii captives of Nagash. Considering the long lifespan and magic of the elves, the Mortuary cult had to have focused on them, trying to get the magic to prolong life from the elves. We do know that they have it and from the lady of the lake we also do know that elves can prolong the lifespan of humans. Considering that Settras army was using bronze weapons and animated constructs weren't created yet, I doubt that his armies could have fared very well against either superpower and its strange that he didn't use his incredible determination and charisma to get the secrets of steel and magic from them. Also knowing the Asur, they would have traded with such a developed civilization, with many goods to offer. Is there any information at all about contacts between the two elder races and (living) Nehekhara?
I know it`s an year old comment, but actually living nehekarans had some relationship with High Elves. There is a hieroglyph showing these two together fighting against some demons. There was even some discussion about it, link: forums.totalwar.com/discussion/210238/tomb-kings-and-the-high-elves
You’re shitting on bronze too much, it’s a decent metal, it’s just that irl it wasn’t cost effective because sources of tin were hard to find and secure. Iron was about the same level of efficacy, it wasn’t superior in any way other than cost and abundance. Yes, steel is better, but it isn’t like steel would go through bronze like butter. Absolutely love this video, and to answer your end question, my favourite things of Settra are A: just how damn stubborn he is as a lord, unrelenting, resilient and determined, then B: He's still just an aggro little piss baby at the end of the day. Always throwing temper tantrums and if he had actually just damn well died he would've have spawned the Mortuary Cult, given Nagash his way in and all of these terrible things. Alongside Archaon and Durthu this is now one of my favorite videos you've made, any other lords you might focus in on, in the future?
I know these videos are great on their own, but something about listening to this video as you're playing Settra in Total War seems perfect. Probably will do the same with all the other legendary lord videos.
They kinda shit on Settra during the End Times. But they shit on EVERYONE during the End Times. At least he went out like a boss and wasn't kowtowed. He's one of my favorite characters, up there with Karl Franz.
My friend and I are doing a duo campaign where I am settra and he is malagor. Oh what a fantastic combo. Listening to this while I conquer the lands is so fitting.
In most fiction, the undead would be considered evil, but I love how in Warhammer they're portrayed as a neutral force. I mean you'd think that they'd be chilling with Chaos, enjoying a nice cold Budweiser, reminiscing about all the mortals that they've slaughtered, but lo and behold, it's the high elves that they've been hanging with. Our boy Settra enjoying a nice cup of Earl Grey, whilst confiding with a pair of pointy ears
Hey, Loremaster! My favorite part of Setra’s lore would have to be his final battle vs. Nagash and Archon the Black. It seems like such a huge moment in his lore to finally kill his two biggest rivals for good, just to have it be stripped away by some foul magic and backstabbing.
I'm sure these videos take a lot of research and reading to do properly, and i just wanted to say thanks for going through the effort to make this content for us. This video was incredible. I learned so much in a short less than 2 hr video. Really nice to have playing in the background at work. Please make more of this content, even if it's sparingly.
Tfw ya boi Sotek is back for 2 thicc hours of sweet, sweet lore... Someday we need an Inept General + Sotek collab for that true prison yard good action.
With Sentra getting a major tease during the malign portents event hopefully we don’t need to wait too long to see Sentra return and put Nagash in his place.
Settra the mother fucking Imperishable is my favorite character from WH. I hope in some lore full way CA bring him back. And My Favorite part of Settra is his Willpower. That man just don't want to knee before anyone. Not Even Fucking Chaos God can make him to obey their command.
Settra is here, the most badass character in warhammer fantasy, and I love Settra. I possibly think he might been defeated by a unknown entity of Chaos, other than the four main chaos gods.
Amazing loved this one, Settra really was fleshed out and was an outstanding character. Currently doing a Khalida campaign and now I await Settra to kill me for betrayal haha.
*_YYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!_* Abhorash plz? Kthx. Also, favorite part of Settra: the king does not serve. The king rules. Absolute badass of the highest degree, right here.
Thank you for this! I like the combination of Settra's ridiculous stubbornness and dickishness. Unlike with the Dwarfs I find it funny for some reason. It also plays into his struggle against Nagash. I also appreciate his tactical genius.
Also, great video man. It’s amazing to see you sit there and make those super long videos on the lore. It must take s massive amount of time and dedication to produce these awesome videos! I thank you for that. 😁👍
10/10 as always mate... i rely like your long video´s. i listen to them at work and it makes the day so much better. for your question i think he is just so cool. he is one of fav char.. i think krell is my fav, something about him and his story is so cool. then its rely a coin toss between settra and Malekith, Malekith ingame but story settra takes the cake and after your video on Archaon i like him way more.. i only play the total war game so i dont know much about the lore so thanks to you and a few others i know more and more about how awesome the lore is.
i. LOVE. quest battles and scenario battles and all sorts of things like that. If they can't be put in by CA, surely they can be made by modders, as there is definitely a demand for them.
1:44:10 I sincerely doubt that he's actually dead. Considering that Age of Sigmar has a habit of resurrecting important characters from the World-that-Was (Gotrek, Arkhan, Eltharion, Lord Kroak, etc...) I'm inclined to believe that we'll be seeing the King of Kings again very soon. There is vengeance to be had, after all.
I know you made this, and similar videos, years ago. But I love these types of videos man. Hope one day you release more like them now that we have immortal empires.
My favorite aspect? Where the *FUCK* do I begin? I don’t have the books but your long form stuff tells me so much about the setting, so I’m just going to go with fucking everything
For the final question. I like the one part of his personality he shares (in my opinion) with Tyrion, the unbreakable will. It's the reason I like both of them much more than many of their counterparts.
Coming to Fantasy from Total War, What I love the most about Settra is that he's such a Total War character - "You expect ME to bow to YOU? What ARE you smoking?" And he actually has the power to back up that bravado. He looks at Nagash and gives him the finger... twice... He looks at the Chaos Gods and gives them the finger... Out of everyone who has that level of gumption, Settra backs that gumption up with capability.
Wait wait wait wait!!!!! If Settra DIED at the end of the End Times (a.k.a. swallowed by the void), doesn't that mean there's a chance (a HUGE chance *pray's to the gods*) that he might return in Age of Sigmar? I mean Gotrek and the like have returned in AOS, so why not Settra?
1:29:10 - 1:29:19 - magnanimous isn't exactly the word to use there. Magnanimous means to be generous, to be forgiving, in particular towards enemies. 1:46:14 - 1:46:23 - not entirely sure if you meant the use of penutimate (although it's certainly possible). Penultimate means next-to-last. Basically second-best or second highest. Silver medal placement in the ranking of some kind of 'bestness'. :oP And I certainly agree with you that it's a shame Settra (and other Legendary Lords) lack some of their items. And on Settra's chariot and pyramid being underwhelming (although, to be fair, you didn't mention the last). My favourite aspect of Settra is the combination of power, intelligence and skill on the one hand and his arrogance and brutal ways on the other hand. He is possibly the best megalomaniacal tyrant to live under.. as long as you don't awaken his ire. But still a megalomaniacal tyrant. Altogether not all too bad considering the alternatives in the Warhammer Fantasy world. ..and the End Times are still terrible. But I still enjoyed the video.
not a total war character lore(yet), but I would love for you to cover Gotrek and Felix or Malus Darkblade stories; although most of them are sort of using 6-7th edition background(which to me is way better than the 8th-end time lore anyways) I think it would be a shame that these awesome characters don't get some attention
he will probably avoid novel characters just because it will take a huge amount of research. especially series as long as G+F or malus, i would estimate the only novel characters he will cover are the blood of aenarion (tyrion, teclis and malekith)
My favorite thing about Settra is that despite (or because) of how arrogant he is Settra is one of (if not the) greatest rulers humanity has had in Warhammer.

Dasacht095 Any Lengendary Amazon Lord? or Any Cathay Indi and Nippon love please.
I know these videos are great on their own, but something about listening to this video as you're playing Settra in Total War seems perfect. Probably will do the same with all the other legendary lord videos.
Love listening to your warhammer vidoes, amazing work
They kinda shit on Settra during the End Times.
Damn, your lore made me buy Tomb Kings DLC. Amazing!
I love that in all my campaigns the imperishable takes about 2 turns to perish in battle ;D

Even 1 year later I still listening to it 😅
This pleases me greatly.
Perfect time to play a Tomb Kings Warhammer campaign on Total War thanks for the lore vid very helpful
Currently doing a Khalida campaign and now I await Settra to kill me for betrayal haha.
nice XD as you should. Still remember how that went?
My favorite part is how badass the will power he has is . That is insane
And people still ask me why my favourite faction are The Tomb Kings and I must say … “Battle for the creator gods”!
Volkmar the Grill lmao, Sotek your channel is awesome keep it up!
Love these vids!!! Thank you for the work sir!!!
Settra is an utter badass
Thank you for the effort you put into these videos Sotek!
When an unstoppable force meets an immovable object
*_YYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!_*
Abhorash plz?
That's because unlike the Dwarfs, Settra has the power, skill and intelligence to back up his claims of superiority.
@@yehiahuzayyin7972 as a dwarf enthusiast I gotta agree XD SETTRA RULES
Really an underrated channel. great job mate.
Automatic subtitles can't figure if Settra is (et) cetera or Citrus The Imperishable Food Product.
I just came from apparently watching only the old character lore videos. Holy crap this is so much better. And I liked the old ones.
Alright that's it, I'm gonna conquer the world in mortal empires with Setra.
I love Settra because he is just larger than life, probably one of the best and exceptional humans to have ever live (unlive).
i. LOVE. quest battles and scenario battles and all sorts of things like that. If they can't be put in by CA, surely they can be made by modders, as there is definitely a demand for them.
This was awesome! Thanks a lot!

I sincerely doubt that he's actually dead. Considering that Age of Sigmar has a habit of resurrecting important characters from the World-that-Was (Gotrek, Arkhan, Eltharion, Lord Kroak, etc...) I'm inclined to believe that we'll be seeing the King of Kings again very soon. There is vengeance to be had, after all.
we need more of this Sotek. love this
When you start getting into Warhammer lore, and you discover the master early on in that process.
Big fan of his absolutely ridiculous number of titles. That and a sun spear is pretty cool.
I know you made this, and similar videos, years ago. But I love these types of videos man. Hope one day you release more like them now that we have immortal empires.
When I killed him with grom on warhammer 2 tw I earned the title "settra the perishable" :D
Queue the South Park response "You killed Settra! You bastard!"
Was it personal like with Surtha Ek?
Amazing video! Thank you so much.
My favorite aspect? Where the *FUCK* do I begin? I don’t have the books but your long form stuff tells me so much about the setting, so I’m just going to go with fucking everything
My fav thing about Settra is his personality yeah sure he’s a arrogant person but he has bite behind his bark quite a lot actually
For the final question. I like the one part of his personality he shares (in my opinion) with Tyrion, the unbreakable will. It's the reason I like both of them much more than many of their counterparts.
I wish he could keep making more videos like this
Coming to Fantasy from Total War, What I love the most about Settra is that he's such a Total War character - "You expect ME to bow to YOU? What ARE you smoking?" And he actually has the power to back up that bravado. He looks at Nagash and gives him the finger... twice... He looks at the Chaos Gods and gives them the finger... Out of everyone who has that level of gumption, Settra backs that gumption up with capability.
The best part of Setra is his gigantic sandstone balls.
Wait, he's vulnerable to fire but his blade produces intense heat? Ohhh-kay...
Denaxfri87
One of the novels tells of a Stormcast named Setris, who leads The Imperishables, and has a major beef with Nagash...
It was actually pretty lame af though. Cause it was just a nod and they didnt focus much on the character last time i checked
Favourite part of settra is his absolute arrogance and indestructible strength of will.
Love the visuals.
Settra woke up and chose conquest
1:29:10 - 1:29:19 - magnanimous isn't exactly the word to use there. Magnanimous means to be generous, to be forgiving, in particular towards enemies.
1:46:14 - 1:46:23 - not entirely sure if you meant the use of penutimate (although it's certainly possible). Penultimate means next-to-last. Basically second-best or second highest. Silver medal placement in the ranking of some kind of 'bestness'. :oP
And I certainly agree with you that it's a shame Settra (and other Legendary Lords) lack some of their items.
Hah, I couldn't help myself.
How to kill Settra?
Destroy the universe then maybe you'll succeed but have a plan B, just in case.
not a total war character lore(yet), but I would love for you to cover Gotrek and Felix or Malus Darkblade stories; although most of them are sort of using 6-7th edition background(which to me is way better than the 8th-end time lore anyways) I think it would be a shame that these awesome characters don't get some attention
he will probably avoid novel characters just because it will take a huge amount of research.
especially series as long as G+F or malus, i would estimate the only novel characters he will cover are the blood of aenarion (tyrion, teclis and malekith)
