Quick note: there is in fact a setting for controlling which microphone the camera will use when the mod is attached. That setting is located in the video profile setting and not in the moto mod section that I demoed in the video. By default only the front microphone on the mod is active so my audio test was not picking up the rear microphone in that test. The camera's built in mic definitely sounds better!
There's a setting for using the front mic or the back mic of the media mod. It might have sounded worse than the built in mic if it wasn't set properly.
Great Review, Always wanted to pick one up for my Hero 8 but it just never really popped for me. The GoPro Display mod would be good with this but I hear that has limitation too
Great video. One thing to keep in mind regarding the latency though - since you were passing video through NDI to your switcher, NDI adds latency so that may have allowed the audio to stay very close to synced vs being connected directly to a switcher via HDMI. I know you have to use a NDI device now that you're using vMix though.
Re: 6:37 - can't record and have HDMI out.... Sorry, but you CAN record while using the HDMI output on a monitor. I use an external HDMI monitor while recording all the time. Get a clue....
Hi! Nice detailed review. Is it possible to use HDMI output and connect GoPro to a phone through GoPro app, so you can control camera with phone and see what camera see?
Is it really limited to 1080p60 while using the HDMI out? The video showed 4K60 when you started projecting from the camera. Perhaps limitation of the HDMI cable?

Now I know I will have to return it as soon as I receive it tomorrow morning :( I needed it for continuous recording, placed above a pool table, so I could record on my computer via hdmi & CamLink 4k, since the storage on a computer is not limited to a couple hundred GBs. P. S. I did see a post somewhere saying that it does output 4k at 30fps if the camera is set to 4k at 60fps (some weird quirk I guessed).. But now I wonder how or if it was true, if the specs on the gopro website say it's 1080p across the board...
@@LonSeidman Thank you for your quick response. I was finally able to find one on Amazon that sad it was compatible with GoPro Hero 9, most just said GoPro Hero 7. I didn't know if it made a difference in the cameras.
Hi , I am very dissapointed and angry with gopro!! had my gopro 7 black and I could just connect to my TV with just my HDMI cable and watch clips immediatelly without buying anything else. Bought the Gopro 10 and lost that feature, unless of course I buy this fucking mediamod device that I dont need. I tried to use a direct cable but now GOPRO wont let the direct cable transmit to tv unless you purchase the fucking mediamod device. I am so dissapointed I wont buy again from gopro

I couldn’t find any mic settings.. there was apparently one on the mod for the 8 but not on the 9 as far as I can see.
Powering it via a battery bank would be useful.. and adding my rode video micro would be useful

GoPro 9 Media Mod supports 3.5mm TRS, i tried many microphone brands but none of them worked correctly. The audio comes from only one channel.
