    This video was exactly what I needed! While I found other videos about this repair, none of them showed me how to use a multimeter to test the noise filter. I didn't know how to use a multimeter, so the videos just telling me to test the noise filter with a multimeter weren't helpful. I learned from you that I needed to have the washer plugged in to test it, and I could see from your video what setting I needed the multimeter set at and what it should read. I diagnosed that the noise filter was bad, that the new one was good, and that I still needed to replace the PCB. Once I replaced the PCB, everything worked great! You saved me from having to call a service company and from having to replace my washer!

    Thanks for the video - just used it to rescue a set of sheets and to diagnose our LG Top Loader. I was hoping it was the noise filter, but unfortunately it appears to be the PCB Board. Given the age of the washer, it has now washed it last set of laundry. No sense in spending $250+ to rescue this unit, when a equivalent replacement is not too much more. Thanks again.

    I have an LG Wave Force Model WT5101HV and the display panel shorted out with a load of laundry in the tub (in 14 gallons of water). I was able to get the lid open by prying up the top of the washer (as shown in this video) but there was no string. My lock was opened by inserting a small screwdriver tip into the plastic lock area and pushing the lock tab back into the housing. All done of course with the power off. Just so you all know. Thanks for the startup on this...

My question is (since the company's service won't give any price for the pcb prior to the spare part order by their technician ) what is the cost of such a board, as i hear from friends that had such problem that it was almost half the price of the machine!! Thanks and keep up the good work!

    I've been using this video to fix this exact model at my house that had both the noise filter and main PCB burn out. I now have new parts installed, and have tested power is getting all the way to the main PCB, however, that LED indicator will not light up.
    When I plug the machine in, I hear the PCB click twice, about a second apart, and then again if I push the power toggle on the user controls, but it never powers up or lights up that LED. Is there something else I can dive into without calling out a ridiculously expensive service call?

      It's to filter out electronic noise on the power lines from reaching the control board. Raw power is dirty power and often contains high frequency harmonics that mess with the little silicon brains on the main control board causing unpredictable or erratic operation. They do not, however, have any surge suppression capability beyond a simple fuse that opens.

    • @AppliantologyOrg
      @AppliantologyOrg  10 років тому

      Laura Roehl Raw power is dirty power. Clean power is a pure sine wave with no spikes or distortions. Most power in the real world is not like this. A surge suppressor with a 1,000 joules rating gives decent protection for most situations.

    My LG Top Load Washer Model WT5001CW lost all power just before a final spin cycle. After troubleshooting the unit I discovered a blown fuse on the Main Control Board. I ordered the new Main Control Board from RepairClinic.com. I received the replacement board today and installed it into my washer after assembly the unit powered up. I then ran my washer which ran well until it got to the final spin cycle at which time it failed again. My LG washer is once again dead and I suspect the new Main Control Board fuse has blown. What can cause the fuse to blow on the main control board. I've been without my washer for three weeks now...? Steven

    • @AppliantologyOrg
      @AppliantologyOrg  11 років тому

      Merry Christmas, Brad! I don't carry a lot of electronic boards, just a few fast movers: Jazz boards for Whirlpool refrigerators and the muthaboard for GE refrigerators. Beyond that, there are just too many different kinds and they're expensive. Also, you need to avoid extreme temperatures and humidities when you store them or they can be damaged just sitting on your shelf or in the service vehicle. Manufacturers are constantly upgrading boards, too, so if you keep em around for long, you could be holding an obsolete board. Still functional probably but without design improvements.

      Turns out there was a service bulletin on the defective main PCBs. This unit had one of the older main PCBs. So what happened here is the main PCB fried and took the noise filter out with it. Incidentally, when this washer died, it actually tripped the circuit breaker indicating a pretty major short malfunction.

It is why I hate these new machines. I will never under stand why all these parts are needed in the first place except to keep supplying the manufacture with further income. The older washers are the best! Of course you are never going to tell a customer of the above mentioned cause it's supplying you an income.
