    Cool stuff hadn't actually seen that before. Makes sense an OEM is doing it when they are always scraping for every ounce of efficiency.

    I'm in voloots with people who, looking at the spelling, would pronounce the word volute as "voll yute," like volume with a t. However, Webster says it rhymes with pollute.

    Based on compressor maps ive seen with coatings on i would expect 1.5-2.5 percentage points increase. However they werent as large diameter as this one, so results may vary.

      This one is also a bit undersized for the application, so if efficiency is improved, it'll definitely show up on the dyno. I'm trying to get to the dyno and then the track before winter hits... I'd love to see a 2% gain. Thanks for the comment!

    Aircraft jet engines self abraide because of metal creep. Makes sense. Lapping(aka abraiding) is the way to get best possible tight fit.

    I am highly curious about this even if its just 1 or 2 hp thats like a jegs sticker at least so I say worth it.

      I'm working on the dyno video now - it's more than just one or two hp - without going deep in to the data, on the surface it looks like it was worth 21 hp on the electric turbo setup. But I'll know for sure when I post the video - hopefully in the next 48 hours.

    Wonder how much difference it will make? Not sure how you're going to be able to test it to find out, but I look forward to hearing.

      I'm going to test it on the dyno - Ray's dyno has been very consistent, even from different days. Last time, I expected to pick up about 10 hp with the bigger TB, and we picked up 12. On a day with slightly worse weather.

    Efficiency loss/gain will show up as temperature and motor kw used. Your only talking a couple degree difference and maybe a kw of power.
    If a compressor is using 53hp at 72% efficiency, a whopping 3% gain in efficiency will drop the required power down to 51. Same gain drops comp outlet temp 3°. I think 3% gain will be really optimistic, id say around 1%. You get bigger gains by weather changing or water/meth. Tightening up the clearance also cuts down the flow potential of a wheel, if your running it in the choked region.
    It'll be neat to see the test results.

    Can you tell us what this cost? They only seem to advertise pricing for pistons.

    • @AlexLTDLX
      @AlexLTDLX  Рік тому +2

      You'll have to contact them directly for current pricing - with all this inflation and stuff... It's not expensive, though. I'll be dyno testing it quite soon.

    I always thought the way to pronounce volute, is like volume with yout at the end.

    • @AlexLTDLX
      @AlexLTDLX  Рік тому

      It's pretty affordable - I don't know current pricing, so I don't want to mis speak - contact line 2 line to find out. We did do a dyno test and it did make more power on the dyno: ua-cam.com/video/41XEVzvYvSw/v-deo.html

    Say it with me, volute, like volume but with a t 😅. Coloquially it has become pronounced more as an oo though, no one will bash you for saying valute the way you do but it's definitely volute.
