Dave, Weather a billyo. Thrills, chills and spills and boots like swimming pools I gather? Awesome adventure and some good decision making to get off the tops in that bomb.
Oh boy! That kind of rain can be a challenge. This video brings back memories that I'd rather forget but you never forget trips like this. That was a tough tumble down that slope. Tough filming in that. Thanks for your commitment!
I've walked all these tracks and stayed in all the huts mostly on my own by choice. But I've had to watch these videos to see anybody else. I was beginning to think I was the only person out there.
Yeah I’m in the ranges quite a bit and it’s not often I find the huts empty at all these days which is really good to see because I encourage people to get out more. When did you do most of the huts?
Yes, the Kaimai’s do have a good selection of options. This weekends adventure I took a gentleman back to a hut 30 minutes from where we exited out from up a non-track Ridgeline while the rest the party hiked out four hours under dark. It’s great that we have the capability of making those kind of decisions with huts that there. Our next adventure found my boundaries of fear. Due out in two weeks.
Wow, crazy weather. Another great video thanks. Just curious. How did you do the video of Topo map with moving red line showing your track? Thanks Bryan
Crazy huh! Thanks for watching. So funny, I asked another UA-camr that exact same question yesterday. It’s a screenshot off my iPad which I’m drawing over top of, its not perfect, it’s a work in progress but it gets the job done.
I didn’t count on a weather bomb nor Arnold slipping, but people like catastrophic storeys. Thanks for watching Pete, keep plugging away, you only have another 80 videos before we can compare apples 🍎 💯
You be you, you do you! I’m a straight shooting, cheeky, adventurous rascal with a cute dog who suffers fools lightly, my growing community is hopefully following and appreciating that brand. Discover yours, be passionate about what you do and like minded people will follow. YOU ARE ENOUGH! 😘
I walked in similar weather after Motutapere Hut along the ridge heading out to Tuahu. Will have to see if I can find the DC-3 site when I head to Kauritatahi Hut.
Hello Dave. Just watched your video what where you using to film with. A Go Pro or cell phone camera. I'm interested in doing the same thing up here in British Columbia Canada.

“Billyo” not heard that word for a few years…Rained like 👍 thanks for watching

Thanks Jeff for stopping by, these adventures and mishaps are what we’ll be talking about in years to come.

@@OutdoorsmanDave over the last 6 years. Concentrate more central north island and brewers at the moment
Don't see many people there either.
Ureweras
I’ve not done a lot in that area, perhaps send me a invite via FB and let’s explore together?
That weather is something else, what mission, another great video.
Thanks OJ for popping by.
The weather looked a shocker! Good we have the huts for shelter.

Another good video Dave, Pity the weather wasn’t playing ball.
Thanks for watching Chris, that’s the exciting thing about hiking, adapting to conditions and making plans on the go

Wow that just goes to show how a tramp in the hills could turn to custard in an instant especially on your own. Great adventure Dave as usual. :)
Thanks Chris, I don’t mind the rain if it’s warm but I only had a fly tent and night two was out in the open so a sad but sensible decision.
Wow, thats some weather. Is this your new style, rain camp/tramp? I can see why the spike in views. I hope Arnold is OK.

@@OutdoorsmanDave 80 Videos? I dunno if I have it in me. Anyway, its 1 x video at a time and then see what happens!!

@@OutdoorsmanDave Yep, thats the plan. I do like (and Im comfortable) being me. Lets hope that thats entertaining enough!
That dog looks familiar
The one in the hut?
Sorry never met those young men before. What dog do you have?
@@OutdoorsmanDave the dog in the hut is my dog haha
Oh, we’re you one of the nice young men?
@@OutdoorsmanDave yeah, it was good to meet you and your friends up there.
If you go to the latest video on my channel my dog is in it

Have you seen the two DC-3 vids?
Hello Dave. Just watched your video what where you using to film with. A Go Pro or cell phone camera. I'm interested in doing the same thing up here in British Columbia Canada.
In rain a GoPro but normally an iPhone (best)
Enjoyed that one Dave, how is that Garmin watch working out, any issues?
Nah, I love it, as you can see it provides instant intel which could be a life saver. Did you see the unboxing video?

Yep watched that a while back so was keen to see if you were happy with it as am also looking at same or something similar
I pretty much wear it 24/7, it gets death and there are no scratches ♥️
Commentators curse at 6:13 in 😬
I’d almost done the same a month earlier, 1/2 round steps, in a damp shaded slimy area is going to get someone hurt bad eventually 😢
