More layers doesn't always equal better artwork though so just have fun and make something your proud of.
@@WickedPaint Nice tip, will do. Just one last thing, do you know where I can get that circuit software in full? I wouldn't have minded a reasonable flat fee part they're charging a subscription and the free version locks you to 20 stencils. Cheers.
Awesome! I've been watching stencil videos for 2 hours now and your video is the first one that was actually totally comprehensive! 😃 Thank you! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👌🏽💕 Which model of Cricut are you using? 🤔
Thats awesome!, I'm glad to hear that my video helped you out. I'm using the cricut explore air 2 and its perfect for stencil projects like this. I'm also about to put up another multi layer stencil video using Inkscape next week so keep an eye out for that.
How would this work if you wanted to do a silhouette of the image first, and then add the layers on top of it to make the colors pop. I was playing with the site last night and it only separated the colors and not the entire image for a silhouette cutout.
Thats a good point and this method does have a few limitations as you've just pointed out. That website won't give you the option to create a silhouette. This month I'm working on creating 12 layer full colour stencil artwork in Inkscape which gives you alot more options for adjustment and control. This video will be out in a week from now and what I do in the video is start with the darkest colours and work my way to the brightest in order to get them to pop.
Lol, good eye. Don't use it very often these days but back when I was a student it was a lifesaver in getting the software I needed to do the assignments. These days I'm more interested in free software like Gimp, I will probably make a video on that soon with an 8 or so layer stencil.
In this video I used Ironlak Sugar spray cans as its a local company, in my latest video I use Loop spray cans which are also good and have a better colour range. I'd use what ever is available to you locally and has lots of colours to choose from but isn't too expensive.
Heyy Buddy, Adobe finally twisted my arm and i committed to a subscription :) i got a quick question, can i use a large vinyl cutter for the stencils coz i can pay a bit more for one rather than cricut What you recon?
Don't worry, soon you'll be making some awesome stencil art and the subscription will pay for itself. I would not recommend a vinyl cutter as stencils need something to hold them together when they are cut which is why the cricuts are good as they have cutting matts. There are other machines on the market so take a look around and see what works for you.
@@WickedPaint I watched a couple of vids on it i just dont wanna make stencils and throw em away after use as i assumed you can use much larger size stencils an a for thicker Vinyl materials, i keep you posted as i think solving this could be a game changer with your app
@KANIVERSE you can also use mylar on the cricut if you want re-usable stencils. Cuts even better then paper and the stencils will last forever if you prefer that option.
Thank you so much for sharing this video :) May I ask you a question? Do you think the fine-point blade included is enough for cutting cardstok? You know, this machine is pretty expansive and I would like not to pay for other stuff :P Thank you again from Italy!
Yes I use the standard blade to cut everything including cardstock up to 250 gsm. As long as you choose the right settings it works really well. I am the same and try not to buy too much for this machine when it is not necessary. Thank you for watching the video, I am working on a new one to come out soon.
Great link to Stencil Creator but after you save can you use other software other than Cricut to enlarge, Im thinking Photoshop or Krita? I would like to hand cut them. Also can you make 90 x 60 cm stencils with Stencil Creator
Yes, taking them into photoshop is great to see how the layers line up and to add a cross in the corners to line up each layer. The stencil creator has limits to the size you can upload so you can either upload the image in pieces or re-size after wards in photoshop.
This stencil maker is great for basic stencils based on small images. If you're looking for a better, more detailed stencil, maybe try photoshop or other software.
@@WickedPaint i started using the Circut Explore Air 2 even after watching your videos at first i didn't know how to work this machine or the software ....i kinda figured it out after i got it the other day playing around with it ...it's complicated at first but I'm on the next day with it now i understand how it works better tho. Thanks for watching the vid and subscribing to the channel. Your right, I could have added a bit more detail about the settings without making the video too much longer. I will keep that in mind for my next videos and try to at least highlight the most useful settings or the ones I use and why. Thanks for the feedback.
Hi! Thanks for the tutorial. I followed the instructions and was able to set up the image on Cricut but when I went to cut the stencil the images became distorted. Do you know why this happened or how to fix it?
Hi Barbara, thank you so much for watching and following this tutorial. It shouldn't distort as the files download as png or svg which work great in the Cricut software. One thing that helps to keep all the stencils the same size is taking it into a software like Gimp and adding a plus symbol in each corner so you can align each layer but also use the plus to cut each stencil the same size in the cricut software. If this didn't quite make sense then just send an email to wickedpaintairbrush@gmail.com and I will send you a step by step that will help you through that process.

Lol, good eye. Don't use it very often these days but back when I was a student it was a lifesaver in getting the software I needed to do the assignments. These days I'm more interested in free software like Gimp, I will probably make a video on that soon with an 8 or so layer stencil.
What spray paint brand and finish do you use? If you stated that in the video and I missed it, I apologize.
In this video I used Ironlak Sugar spray cans as its a local company, in my latest video I use Loop spray cans which are also good and have a better colour range. I'd use what ever is available to you locally and has lots of colours to choose from but isn't too expensive.
@@WickedPaint thank you so much
SVG Files are no longer showing up when I use stencil creator. Only PNG and web files...
Great video....
Thank you, I'm currently working on the next one which will have many more layers and color.
Does anyone knows how long do we have to wait between two layers sprayed please ?
Usually 5 minutes till touch dry or use a hair dryer to speed things up
Heyy Buddy, Adobe finally twisted my arm and i committed to a subscription :)
i got a quick question, can i use a large vinyl cutter for the stencils coz i can pay a bit more for one rather than cricut
What you recon?
@@WickedPaint will look in to it budd, thanks
Thank you so much for sharing this video :)
May I ask you a question? Do you think the fine-point blade included is enough for cutting cardstok?
You know, this machine is pretty expansive and I would like not to pay for other stuff :P
Thank you again from Italy!
Yes I use the standard blade to cut everything including cardstock up to 250 gsm. As long as you choose the right settings it works really well. I am the same and try not to buy too much for this machine when it is not necessary.
Thank you for watching the video, I am working on a new one to come out soon.
Thank you! i was looking for this exact thing! and the website is super helpful as well
Awesome, hopefully it helps you create some really cool stencil art!
Hi. What blade do you use for your Cricut?
I use the cheap ones from amazon and replace them after each set of stencils.
That came out pretty nice, what was the machine you used?
I used the Cricut Explore air 2, really useful machine and paid itself off pretty quickly once I sold some art.
@@WickedPaint Thanks mister
Thank you so much!
Your welcome and thanks for watching it too. I will be making some more colorful ones soon.😀
How do you get better photos? The ones I tried looked weird
This stencil maker is great for basic stencils based on small images. If you're looking for a better, more detailed stencil, maybe try photoshop or other software.
Easiest video ive ever watched i couldnt watch the other ones with stencils too many steps involved with using photoshop.
Glad to hear it and hope it helps you create some awesome stencil work!
@@WickedPaint i started using the Circut Explore Air 2 even after watching your videos at first i didn't know how to work this machine or the software ....i kinda figured it out after i got it the other day playing around with it ...it's complicated at first but I'm on the next day with it now i understand how it works better tho. Check out my video first time using the Circut Explore Air 2 Blackout edition and I was just figuring it out still afterwards i made pretty cool stickers or stencils with it.
Hey man awesome video. Think you can make a more depth video of the software and the settings you have it on. you kind of rushed through that part. Subbed for future videos!
Thanks for watching the vid and subscribing to the channel. Your right, I could have added a bit more detail about the settings without making the video too much longer. I will keep that in mind for my next videos and try to at least highlight the most useful settings or the ones I use and why. Thanks for the feedback.
Would I be able to paste all of the stencils in a Google doc and then print?
Hi can i know what is the name of the type of printer That already prints the cut sheets to make my stencil for street art?
I am using a cricut machine to cut my stencil. I use it in all my stencil videos.
@@WickedPaint using programms to make stencil such as photoshop can you print directly with this machine?
@@nicolafusco2842 yes correct, I create all my layers in photoshop then cut them on the machine
What's that stencil cutting printer called? Never heard of it!
Its called the cricut explore air 2, they are very popular these days.
Thanks a lot man
No worries, try it out and have fun!
Thank you
How do you delete the background layer?
Well I had to cheat a little and use photoshop to delete the background...but you could use free software like GIMP to do that
The download don’t save as svg. Do you now how to fix that?
