These Cheap Or Free Things Are Invaluable In The Garden

- These cheap, sometimes free black plastic nursery pots are indispensable in the garden. They are great multitaskers for planting, garden, grooming, overwintering, and using container plantings in the border.
On my recent trip to Scotland, I found some great uses for them that I will be sharing with you and employing in my own garden design! Stay cool out there, my friends😁.

I strategically position black nursery pots around the yard to toss in weeds or garden discards. The black pots blend behind plantings and are not noticed in the landscape. When any of them are full, they are easily transported to my compost.
I do the same thing!
Excellent tip!
Just have to publicly tell you, Linda, and your viewers that you are as lovely and authentic in person as you are on screen. I took a detour on my way home from CO to see if I could drive by Linda's house. It was on my list of things to do and my husband knew how important it was to me. OMG! Her yard is so beautiful and full of happy butterflies and bees. What joy! And to top it all off, Linda came outside and visited with us from a distance since she is sick. I could have spent the day with her like an old friend. Just know she is the kindest and most gracious lady. No wonder we all love her! Thank you, Linda Vater!!--your fan from Bossier City, LA
So nice to see you pop in for a minute. I totally understand about jet lag. I can’t wait to hear about Scotland and all the things you learned!! Welcome back!!!
I love that hubs went on the tour with you. ❤ 0:19 We missed you and so look forward to hearing all about it. There’s nothing like travel to get the creative juices flowing. Have some good rest!
Yay, you’re home !! Glad you had a safe trip. Can't wait to hear about it !
Thank God you made home safe and sound!! I love your yard Linda!! Stewart is awesome!! Great to have him and your friend around!!❤
Happy to hear your garden survived your absence.
Welcome back, Linda! I love those big plastic pots! Always on the hunt for them!
I love to re-use plastic pots! I've made some look like terra cotta by smoothing on some cheap spackle or something before spray painting. I love Rustoleum and can no longer find "Terra Cotta" but there's a cinnamon that's almost the same. You can also make them move heavily textured and make them look like stone.
I know it was wonderful trip but I'm so happy you're back!! Welcome home!
Would have loved if you could have come to Ireland. Look forward to hearing about Scottish trip. Love your garden. Greetings to you all 🇮🇪
Yes, would be great if you come to Ireland, including the north. Have one particular garden belonging to two friends that I would love you to see. xo
Welcome back from your Scottish travels! We traveled throughout Scotland a couple years ago and I still delight in thinking about the gorgeous green landscapes and incredible Highland views, great food, and fabulously friendly people. What a beautiful place to visit! 👏✨
Looking forward to seeing & hearing about your trip. Get some rest…♥️🙏🏼👍🏼🌹Sending love hugs prayers and kindness with a daily dose of encouragement ♥️🌹🙏🏼👍🏼🇺🇸
Scotland weather has rather what is often described as Dreich and dreary ..unseasonally cold wet and windy this year .. Hope you had a wonderful visit .. ❤️😊
Your garden looks gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing. Hope you had a wonderful time on your vacation.
Very timely advice about using black nursery pots! Due to a limited budget and gardening on a small lot in a mobile home community with an HOA restricting what I can plant in the ground, I mainly container garden...I do have some dscorative pots for entry plants but am not opposed to using black plastic pots, I have a zen type garden and have learned how to disguise the pots with the foliage and trailing plants. I do use grow bags in some instances, I was very happy to read your tips!
I hope my nursery has some of those black pots .they are giving to. Throw out...Thanks for that tid but of information.. Glad you had a wonderful trip to Scotland, and are safely back home.. Have a blessed week!! Stay Cool!!
Hi Linda I was watching a garden video in Scotland, it was Shepherd House garden and there you were… ❤ So nice to have you back after your amazing trip. I sent an e mail through LindaVater info but it bounced back. It was a clock all made of flowers in Edinburg. O sure hope you saw it…
Hey - nice to hear from you - Happy you had a lovely vacation -
Great your back, Nice to see you in your garden.
I am looking forward to your thoughts of Scotland. I just returned recently from a trip to Edinburgh . The Royal Botanical Garden was wonderful. The city and people are wonderful. I am planning a trip back next year.
Can’t wait to hear about Scotland!
Glad you had a great trip! Looking forward for your upcoming trip videos!
W0W❤ I had to backtrack a few seconds when you picked up the pot; I thought it was metal! You did an amazing job on the faux finish. ❤
I was a decorative artist for many, many years - and I used to do mini Monet’s garden murals on my pots! Haven’t in ages..I sold them. I have a million faux finish recipes in my brain - I need to use them. Easier than wall finishes for sure! I guess a good acrylic spray will protect the finish outdoors. Question about your bulbs that you plant in them and store in the garage. Do they need any light…or will they grow in a dark garage? Thanks…love your channel!❤❤❤
Great tips! Welcome home and can’t wait to hear about your trip!
I miss seeing you enjoy and putter around in your previous beautiful garden. I think it misses you. Well, the other day, we found 20 or so of these thicker pots in the street. Probably blew off a truck.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing all about your trip!!!!!❤
Love the reruns!!
All useful information. I like to reuse these pots too. You gave me a couple of new ideas.
Great ideas for black pot. I’m a fairly new gardener, I usually throw my empty black nursery pots in trash for recycling
Can’t wait to hear - your news about gardens - Thank You for sharing
I love those huge pots!
Welcome back Linda! Was thinking of you and your trip to Scotland. ...must have been amazing.
Welcome home Linda and Hubs, I like these replays with your new introduction. Sounds like you have a cold, please rest up and get well soon. Maybe Leah will continue to water for a few more days. Looking forward to hearing about your Scotland experience , yes that means hubs experience as well. ❤❤❤❤
I can't wait to hear about your trip to Scotland
Hi Linda
So glad you are back from Scotland,UK.
Were you lucky enough to see heather on the bonnie bonnie banks of loch Lomond? Or Gretna Green?
Did you try the haggis?
Yes, the black buckets are super handy❤❤
I wish hubs would tell us his impressions of Scotland
Love the nursery pots!
Because I’m in zone 3 and we can get late frosts frequently, I’ve used those black pots many times to cover plants for protection. 🇨🇦❄️🇨🇦
Love your garden and you are such an inspiration!
My raised bed zinnia garden is all black nursery pots, 20-50 gallon sized. Love the up-cycling! I also use them to line my ceramic pots, which makes for easy fall cleanup.
Welcome home hunny bunny. Sounds like you had a great time. How were those pesky midgets? 😮😂❤ love to all Rosie O x 🏴
Welcome home!!!!
Hi, Linda. Thank you for your video. Best wishes. ❤
Beautiful ❤️
Nicecto have you back Linda.take adequate rest.the videos can wait a few days.
I use them for recycling. I throw my glass in, then dump glass in recycling.
How nice!
Berry good work
I love these views of the old garden. Like seeing a beautiful mature woman at the Oscar’s after seeing the beautiful 20 something actresses
Great ideas with the planters. Can’t wait for your trip of wisdom. I can tell your voice is a little scratchy. Hope it goes away fast. Get some rest ❤
I use my nursery pots also. I after my landscaper plants the plant of my choice into the ground, I keep the nursery plastic container and put it in a basket or raised bed. The large nursery pots are hard to find. I've seen them at Home Depot, they are expensive and they are not good quality.
Good for you hoping your jet lag is over and you get back in shape. You are amazing.
You can never have enough black pots.
You sound tired or sick, take care!
Welcome home!
Never have had the budget to buy a plant large enough to go in a pot like that lol😆
Get a few packages of seeds for flowers that get large. Plant them in the black plastic pot. And then when it’s time to plant bulbs go to the dollar store and buy a package of them. You can make things beautiful on a budget too!
Welcome home.
Not where in the world is Carmen San Diego😂😂😂😂. Thats was a throwback.
