  • Molds sold for sugar craft can be used to cast wax for lost wax casting. Here we take a sugar craft mold and adapt it for hot wax injection.

If you haven't already bought one, a hot glue gun is basically all that is. put the injection wax in it, and use a stick to push it down.

Hi we make the wax injection guns in house, they are for sale on our etsy shop under steedcraft. There are lots of bits and pieces on our facebook steedcraft page that you might find interesting - there is a button to our big cartel shop on there as well
    cheers
    Quin

Hello, I want to make copy of a piece of jewelry I have, but I cant use conventional Rubber vulcanization mold because I'm pretty sure the piece will melt, and your idea is pretty good, what material you use to make the mold?
    thanks

The wax injector is a converted glue gun, make your own by all means we simply offer them by way of support. However do proceed with caution, I am not encouraging anybody to tamper with a mains electrical device. Molten wax is a conductor of electricity so be sure to seal your gun. The gun as standard also has a tapered ingate that will not allow the non stick plunger all the way in this needs to be carefully reamed.
    yours Quin

Sir I wanted to make a plastic molding of my chess set which was given to me many many years back. But the pieces started to wore out (breaks in corners and material deterioration) since the chess pieces where made from brittle ceramic type of material. I really would like to make a replica of my chess set so that I could use the plastic replica and keep the original one. Could you make a video on how to make a molding for one whole chess set?. And is it possible to make a molding of the entire chess set or maybe just the 16 pieces all at the same time (placing the 16 pieces on a flat stand and pour materials for molding) and not individually? How should i do it? thanks very much.

Joseph Theman HI Joseph, I would make small molds to copy each peice one at a time as large molds loose their rigidity and can get tricky to make as air bubbles can get trapped. there are a huge amount if 2 part silicine molding materials around - the shore number will tell you how stiff they will be. the yellow ninamold shown here is very easy to use you simply warm it up and pour it in. these methods will give you a mold from which to make a wax to take in to the lost wax casting process. good luck enjoy and let us know how you get on cheers Q
